Outrageous: Boehner Blasts ICE for Releasing Hundreds of Illegals Ahead of Sequester

House Speaker John Boehner on Tuesday blasted the decision by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to release hundreds of jailed illegal immigrants and blaming federal budget cuts.

“It’s very hard for me to believe that they can’t find cuts elsewhere in their agency,” Boehner (R-Ohio) told CBS News. “I frankly think this is outrageous…I can’t believe that they can’t find the kind of savings they need out of that department short of letting criminals go free.”

ICE officials said they have released “several hundred” immigrants awaiting deportation because they couldn’t afford to hold them with an expected round of spending cuts set to take effect at the end of the week.

“In order to make the best use of our limited detention resources in the current fiscal climate and to manage our detention population under current congressionally mandated levels, ICE has directed field offices to review the detained population to ensure it is in line with available funding,” agency spokeswoman Gillian Christensen said in a statement Tuesday. “As a result of this review, a number of detained aliens have been released around the country and placed on an appropriate, more cost-effective form of supervised release.”

The announcement came after Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano had warned that the $85 million in cuts, known as the sequester, could affect detention policy, according to the Washington Post.

“I’m supposed to have 34,000 detention beds for immigration,” Napolitano said Monday. “How do I pay for those?”

According to the Post, ICE said it’s not dropping its immigration cases against the released detainees and that they will continue to prosecute and monitor them outside detention facilities.

“All of these individuals remain in removal proceedings. Priority for detention remains on serious criminal offenders and other individuals who pose a significant threat to public safety,” Christensen said.

Real easy, you ground Air Force 1. The President of the United States of America uses Air Force 1 in wasteful manners, why can’t Congress put a limit on how often and where he can take that thing? He abuses Air Force 1 instead of working at the White House (the job he applied for) but runs around in “campaign mode” obviously doing things his future competitors can not do?

“I’m supposed to have 34,000 detention beds for immigration,” Napolitano said Monday. “How do I pay for those?” buy not spending on art and other unnecessary things. Use some of the money you saved by not enforcing immigration laws, the possibilities are endless.

Here’s a theory. After “Fast and Furious” caused ARs to get into the wrong hands in Mexico, the Mexican Government voted February 18, 2012, to ask the U.S. Senate to release a list of names of gun owners in the U.s. border states, CA, AZ, NM, and TX. “Fast and Furious” led Mexico to push Obama’s agenda for gun control.
Now hundreds of illegals who committed crimes in the U.S. were released from prison, but not U.s. citizens who committed similar crimes. Why? Is the Obama Administration hoping for the same backlash, this time from Arizonans and others, to regulate guns and/or to grant amnesty to millions of illegals, so they can get jobs and not commit crimes?
Is it part of the “bottom up, top down” agenda the Obama Administration’s regulation Czar laid out as his plans two years ago? Wait until the people cry out for Government intervention to stop some planned agenda, and then clamp down from the top down on what, gun control, or push amnesty? Implement martial law? We see so much “push to shove” already, in executive orders, bypassing the Constitution, ignoring Congress and the balance of powers, etc. Glenn reported it was to start with a nudge, then next, a shove.
If they essentially disarm the border states, while lessening national defense, FBI, and border security, will the drug cartels and Hezbollah do? Neighborhood Watch has told us we’ll be on our own, don’t expect the police to answer calls in a disaster.
Time to pray for God’s help and guidanc

This is nothing more than a political ploy the cuts are not even in effect yet, DHS has enough to spend on 8 million rounds of ammo, they turned them loose in Arizona. This is this Administrations immigration policy and after this stunt any immigration reform should be off the table. These are the worst that they have let loose on the Citizens of Arizona. Deport all illegals including all anchor babies. And return all the monkeys in this administration to the zoos they escaped from.

The Obama administration wants more money and more power, and they will do ANYTHING to get it. They released large numbers of criminals into the public, so what wouldn’t they do? Would they knowingly let our enemies attack us? I think the answer to that is yes.

I was president of a company for years and am here to tell you, if you unable to find less than 3% in cuts in your operating budget without major changes in your operations, you are a very poor manager . That goes for you too Mr. President. You are the worse manager of this country, by far in my lifetime.

How can a small (2.4%) cut in the future budget cause such an overreaction by the Chicago thug in the WH? The thugs from Chicago are bullying and maximizing political games on the American people.

Obama’s continuous lying on the effects of cutting the rate of growth of the government, his incompetence, his lack of leadership, and his attempts to make the process as painful as possible is dispicable, but releasing law breakers is nothing short of extortion which endangers Americans. Time to impeach Napolitano now as a start of getting rid of government failures like Reid, Pelosi, and Obama.

That’s funny, I thought that Obummer just said that we would have to release criminals from jail if the sequester hits, but they have already been releasing them, I wish the president would explain this.
