Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said this week that the sequester would cut “core” areas of her department. Preparation for the cuts began last night, when she reportedly authorized the release of hundreds of illegal immigrants held in local jails to save money for upcoming sequestration. Fox News reports on the DHS decision:
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said Tuesday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement released more than 500 detainees in his county alone over the weekend. A spokesman for Babeu told FoxNews.com that ICE officials have said they plan to release a total of nearly 10,000 illegal immigrants.
Arizona officials at both the state and federal level are outraged, with Arizona Governor Jan Brewer saying of the release: “I’m appalled to learn the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has begun to release hundreds of illegal aliens from custody, the first of potentially thousands to soon be freed under the guise of federal budget cuts.”
ICE claims the releases are necessary to save money ahead of the cuts, but can that justify such action even if true?
In December of 2012, Tom Coburn released a report detailing the wasteful spending of the Department of Homeland Security. The report details spending that include Zombie apocalypse training, underwater robots for cities that have few bodies of water, and armored vehicles for tiny communities.
On ‘Real News‘ Wednesday the panel discussed how the sequester will effect DHS, if the cost for holding illegal immigrants in jail is the first place the DHS should cut, and what real-life consequences will come of Napolitano’s decision. Feb. 28, 2013 at 10:08amWhat would be the effects of the release of the illegal imigrants?
Let’s see: would it be increased gang violence? Would it be increased drug dealing? Would it be an increase in drunk driving and the resulting deaths associated with it? Would it be more home invasions with bodily harm or death to the home owner? Would it be increased physical assaults on the streets? Would it be an increase in rapes? Would it be an increase in auto theft and car jackings? Would it mean an increase of homeless latinos in shelters?
There certainly are no jobs for them, there aren’t enough jobs for Americans.
Big Sis, Nepolatino is a complete failure. Her ineptness is so blatant that she is the laughing stock of every terrorist and enemy of the USA. This action by her only goes to prove the point.

Feb. 28, 2013 at 7:35amThe complete lack of sanity and/or balls by EVERYONE in Congress is amazing. These massive cuts are the equivalent of 5 or days of total government spending and these madmen are still spending more than last year. Maybe the sob’s who rule us could sell some of the ammo they are hoarding, or maybe the big SOB in the White House can cut back on his pie consumption or his spouse do with 2 or 3 fewer staff members than the 40 she has now. Gee, It mus t be good to be King!

Feb. 28, 2013 at 2:34amThis had better cost a lot of government knuckleheads their jobs. Anyone in the administration who had anything to do with this extortion of the American people should go to prison for a long time.

Feb. 27, 2013 at 11:13pmIf one crime is committed against someone the ICE should be sued. I am afraid the price will be the death of some innocent citizen all because obama got mad and wanted to punish the people. He is unfit to be president and he has committed crimes agains the constittion and the people by allowing these criminals freed for spite. He said he did not condone this but he is lying. If he didn’t….then send agents now to find these people and return them to prison. That will not happen because this spoiled little Kenyans socialist is behind this release. He is unfit to be president.
