Texas Man Takes on 3 Home Intruders With a Rifle — Find Out What Happened

When Randy Magdeleno arrived home Wednesday morning, he found three burglary suspects running around his Houston home. It was a terrifying situation, he said, but thankfully he had his gun to protect him.

The problem was, the .22LR bolt-action rifle was unloaded. But the burglars didn’t know that.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Magdeleno said he heard voices as soon as he entered his home after dropping his wife off at work.

“So I grabbed my rifle and I came around through here in my kitchen,†he told KHOU-TV. “It was scary, I didn’t know what I was walking into and hearing people running around inside my house at the same time. I didn’t know if they were carrying weapons around or not.â€

After retrieving his rifle, Magdelena ordered two juveniles to the floor. The third suspect was upstairs but the homeowner was able to order him on the floor as well.

“I sneaked up on them and told them to lay on the ground on their stomachs,” he said.

“I wanted to keep them calm because I was outnumbered and you know, like I said, at anytime if they felt fear, I know they would have overtaken me,” he added.

Houston, Texas Man Holds 3 Burglary Suspects at Gunpoint Until Cops Arrive

(KPRC-TV)

While he had all three suspects detained at gunpoint, he speed dialed his wife and told her to call 911. Police arrived minutes later and took the three juveniles into custody.

It was really the best outcome anyone could’ve asked for. KPRC-TV reports the suspects were just 14-years-old.

A short time later, one of the suspect’s father brought his son back to Magdeleno’s house and made him apologize for the attempted robbery.

The Northwest Houston neighborhood where the robbery occurred has apparently been hit with a number of burglaries recently — and homeowners are tired of it.

“We aren’t going to put up with this,” one woman said.

As we’ve pointed out in the past, breaking into a Texas home is not advised. Burglars enter at your own risk.

perfect reason for semi-auto rifles ,,multiple targets ,oh and granted 22′s aren’t that dramatic but they will kill your a$$ dead,,,no grand exit wounds ,no gushes of blood just a little slug entering and then rooting around and around shredding the innards

I’m really getting tired of the misleading links on The Blaze. I got here from a teaser about pork meat mixed with moose meat in IKEA stores in Europe. This sort of thing happens too often. It also happens with the video links, which purport to be about one story but end up something else entirely, and then, if you think you’ll be patient to follow through subsequent video links, you have to endure ads and never know what story will pop up afterwards. I’ve already stopped clicking on video links because they seldom take me to the story they’re supposed to take me to. Now I’m about to give up on The Blaze entirely. If you had someone at The Blaze purposely sabotaging the site to drive readers away, I wouldn’t be surprised.

Last heard, more people in the USofA were still being killed with .22LR slugs than with all the other calibers combined. The .22LR, however, will not stop any threat bigger than a squirrel. Most people won’t even know they’ve been shot until blood loss into their inner cavities produces faintness, unconsciouness or death if not treated. Shoot somebody coming after you and he can still beat you to death before he feels any ill effects. Don’t know of anyone who wants to be shot with a .22 either.

Just avoid Gunbroker (prices are insane) and CTD if you don’t already. CTD cancelled the ammo orders of someone I know saying they couldn’t get the boxes. Then the next day they re-listed the ammo for twice the price and changed the listing to “in stock.” Bastards.

    Stupid troll,
It’s not about taking a life as some far out of proportion revenge for the simple act of “messing with your stuff”… It’s about the fact that they were stealing his stuff, stuff that he likely gave up a great portion of his life to be able to afford, stuff that is likely irreplaceable family treasures. All a bit more serious than what you tried to portray, but still not enough to justify taking a life. but that’s not all that nit’s about… It’s also about that they stole his sense of peace and security which also cannot be replaced and with that they put him into a situation in which he had no reasonable expectation of the outcome. He had every reason to believe that his life was in mortal danger. In the heat of the moment he probably noticed that the perps appeared to be young, but was he really going to ask them for ID’s when they might just as quickly reach for a gun.
If you break into my house, you had better hope that the conditions of the situation allow me to very quickly determine the nature and level of the threat. And if I am you had better consider yourself very lucky because if I believe that I or my family might be in danger I will not burden myself with the tedious tasks of crime scene analysis and criminal profiling. I will remove the threat in the most expeditious manner possible!

The father who made his son come back and apologize might be a great dad, or might simply be well read enough to know that if he does this judges are more likely to give the boy probation rather than time in juvi; or if I were really cynical, the dad was teaching the boy the ‘ropes’ on how to work the criminal justice system. I’d really like it to be the first scenario… but unfortunately, in today’s environment it might be the least likely of the three.

They entered a house illegally with the intent to commit a felony. They did this knowing the risks of not only being arrested but yes, having the walls painted with their brains. They knew the risk and decided it was worth it. If he would have had a loaded gun and needed to use it it could have ended better. Now, the great state of Texas gets to spend tax payer money to have costly court hearings, possible juvi time (that costs more money) only for these obama slaves to only learn how to be more careful next time they break in..They will continue to commit crimes like this, in and out of jail, each time they are released getting another baby mama knocked up with a future Dem voting entitlement drain on the country. The cycle continues..

A Stoic is a believer in philosophia doctrine which is based upon belief in metaphysics and dialectics, This is the same doctrine upon which Marx & Engels defined their system of Communism. Stoic actually means porch or open breezeway, is where the students of Zeno attended seminary school at Acropolis (literal worship center and location of the temples of the gods of Greece, specifically Athena). There they learned philsophia doctrine from their teacher Zeno.

The Apostle Paul railed against this doctrine and specifically the Stoics. You will find that written in Acts 17 and Colossians chapter 2. Stoic-Philosophia doctrine is the base doctrine for what most people refer to as Communism, Socialism, or Progressivism. Most people gloss over this fact, miss the doctrine, and as a result of their ignorance, find themselves assimilated to it. Mr Obama is a Zealot believer in Stoic – Philosophia doctrine (metaphysics and dialectics according to Zeno) as are most of the people he associates with.

    2. A .22LR isn’t going to stop or even slow down a determined attacker.

    3. You should never “brandish” a firearm. Not only is it illegal but if one of the little thugs had a gun you loose. Never, Never, Never pull a gun you are not ready, willing and able to use!

      @Joshua

Brandishing a firearm is producing a gun with the intent to threaten. For instance “GET OUT I HAVE A GUN! Or Joe Biden’s “let go a couple rounds out the balcony” or something equally as stupid. To pull a gun without the intent of using is is a good way to draw fire from an armed intruder or worse get that gun taken away and turned on you.

I would HIGHLY recommend anyone who want’s to use a firearm for home defense go take the NRA’s “Refuse to be a Victim” class or take your states CCW class even if you don’t intend to get your license. If you are not 100% sure in your own mind that you can use that gun even if it is some 12 year old who broke in you shouldn’t be trying to use a gun in a break in. 12 year olds have been known to carry guns and USE them in commission of crimes.

Yes I am an NRA certified firearms safety instructor, range safety officer, pistol and rifle coach.

Because most shot with a .22 rimfire die days later. Only a central nervous system hit will put someone down and stop the attack. A determined criminial can easily fight back through multiple gun shot wounds that impart far more kinetic energy into the body – a CNS hit, kinetic energy and massive bleeding are what stop an attacker.

I’m glad it turned out the way it did. But that was absolutely foolish to 1. go searching for criminals and 2. with an unloaded weapon.

tired of the p/c — it IS what it IS — ANYTHING that causes ‘emotional distress’ in another human being is for all intents and purposes — an ASSAULT. The bayonet is — an INTIMIDATING ‘assault’ weapon designed to induce FEAR in an adversary — same as a certified letter THREATENING ‘possible action’ if one doesn’t ‘comply.’ Both are generally used in ‘battle.’ — One with HONOR (remote-site drone operators don’t count) – the other cowardly ‘shot-gunning’ for revenue — a human being who’s natural state of being is say — 6 foot 4 (as Lincoln was) facing down a midget like McClellan has an ‘intimidating effect…’ — Now we get to ‘sue’ for anything we can construe to be an ‘assault’ upon our “emotions….” — Militarized police are — ‘assault weapons’ designed to intimidate the public into compliance —- real or imagined — THAT is the Goebels’s intent…. As I read the story, the rifle was in the house and the kids already inside when he arrived home, if it had been loaded and they’d found it, he may have been the one dead when scared kids saw him walk in. A loaded gun needs to be in the right hands to be valuable.

Wood shed action should be the result – however the father would then be charged with child abuse and the perp teen would learn another lesson, that “the nanny government” will protect you over your victim’s right every day of the week. Just make a complaint about child abuse (physical or sexual) and you get off scott free and the other person is marked for life, even if it was not true. Hopefully, we will correct this problem of false claims soon.

In the mean time, kudos to the victim for his positive actions in removing criminals from the neighborhood.
