‘We Will Not Comply!’: NRA Holds Massive Rally in NY to Protest State’s Restrictive Gun Laws

The National Rifle Association on Thursday held a massive rally in Albany, N.Y. to protest the Empire State’s restrictive gun laws signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in January. The state’s massive gun control package gave New York the strictest gun laws in the United States.

NRA President David Keene fired up thousands of supporters outside the state Capitol, saying “we’ve lose battles before, we’ll not lose this war.”

“We’ll help you defeat the politicians depriving you of your rights,” Keene said. “We’ll do whatever is necessary. We will not allow those freedoms to be taken from us.”

NRA membership has seen a steady increase as lawmakers continue to debate future gun control legislation. Keene said the NRA now has close to 5 million members.

Keene also reminded New Yorkers that big and small businesses could be impacted by new gun laws, using a green Remington Arms union T-shirt to make his point, The Business Review’s Adam Sichko reports.

Sichko, who was at the event, has some more details:

Dozens of buses brought protestors from all corners of the state. Organizers kept referring to a crowd of 10,000, though that appeared to be an overestimate.

Many in the crowd raised American flags or yellow “Don’t Treat on Me” flags. A number of signs compared Cuomo to Hitler and invoked communism. Others had messages such as: “If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words” or “I’m a mom and grandmother here to protect and defend their future.”

One sign was especially pertinent: “Founded in 1816: Remington stays. Cuomo goes!”

Police estimated the crowd size at 5,000 at around 1 p.m. Thursday, Times Union reports.

The crowd could be heard chanting, “We will not comply!” at one point and later “Cuomo’s gotta go!”

In addition to outlawing semi-automatic rifles, or so-called “assault weapons,” New York’s new gun laws ban a broader array of military-style weapons and also restricts ammunition magazines to seven rounds, down from the current 10. The law also creates a more comprehensive database of people barred from owning guns, and makes New York the first state to require background checks to buy bullets.

But that just is more of a reason for the NRA to keep fighting for America’s gun rights, Keene explained.

“Our strength comes from the fact that that broader community of Second Amendment believers in this country is not simply made of Republicans or conservative or Democrats or liberals or factory owners. It’s made up of all Americans: farmers, union workers and all the rest, police officers and veterans,” he told supporters.

I’ve always wondered what it would take. The government is embolden because they steal our rights and we do nothing. If we don’t do something they will do more next time. It’s 7 round clips this time it’ll be 3 rounds next time.

I read a police officer stating his defense of the second amendment. The police worry me, I understand why they want to be a police officer but if some idiot lawmaker puts something on a piece of paper then those police officers are sworn to do it. I wonder how many are going to give up their pension to stand for our freedoms. Those rights have been stolen in every other country and it’s the police that enact it. What makes you think we’re so special. The people that founded this country were willing to make sacrifices to implement change. I don’t think this generation will make those sacrifices and they will lose what has been fought for. Case in point; read an article about a man selling 2 30 round clips, was questioned by the NY police a consequently was put in jail for having 30 round clips. You can’t tell me they wont do it. If they think they aren’t going to be able to feed their families they’ll do it.

  One question. If they do it so they can feed their families, isn’t part of that taking you or anyone away so you cannot feed your family? If I am willing to enslave you so I can feed my family, and kill you if necessary, then that leaves very few options for those I wish to enslave.

A coincidence, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was at the United Nations was attending the “World Wide Small Arms Ban Treaty Conference. I can here her now….”OK” “OK”… If I disarm the citizen from arms having military characteristics “semiautomatics” but allow adequate for arms hunting, home and personal protection. Will that suffice….

“We will not comply” is exactly correct. 3 things I will never do: turn in firearms, register firearms, or let anyone from law enforcement or the government into my house without a warrant. This will cause what is known as M.A.D., mutual assured destruction. Needed: patriots across the nation willing to do the same. Body counts speak far louder than words.

I don’t think 5000 is a massive crowd. Not at all.
The majority of gun owners don’t go to rallies of any kind. They just know in their hearts that they are in a messed up country where right is wrong and wrong is right and they fear speaking out will cause their best means of direct defense to be taken from them for coming out in the open. A huge class of silent dissenters is growing at lightning speed. Thats why you can’t find certain kinds of ammo.

I take it Encinom is the new smurf or clueless troll. Seems to me he has been in the basement too long and ingested too much koolaid. I wouldn’t defend Encinom’s right to say anything, people like him or her are worthless and just take up oxygen. Most gun owners are not inbreds Encinom, they are law abiding patriotic intelligent people. Most inbreds are liberals cal surprise. LOL.

Here’s a way to spread our message. On every piece of paper money in my wallet, on the bottom border written in fine Sharpie is the following:

NO GUN CONTROL – ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ!!

Conventional wisdom (and probably US law) is that it is illegal to deface money. How much more can it be defaced after having tax cheat Timmy Geitner’s signature on it?
