Hannity Lambastes Dem Congressman Over Past Ties With ‘Radicals’ Like Farrakhan: ‘He Spent Years Spewing Their Hateful Rhetoric’

Following the explosive on-air clash between Fox News host Sean Hannity and Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), it was hard to imagine the situation getting any more fiery. But allegations last night on Hannity’s show continued to link the congressman to some controversial figures — individuals who are seen by some as divisive, dangerous and unpalatable.

During a brief segment last night, Hannity accused the politician of associating (in the past) with the Minister Louis Farrakhan, the leader of the controversial Nation of Islam, and Khalid Muhammed, a deceased Black Militant leader, Politico reports. Additionally, he compared Ellison’s past rhetoric to the extremities regularly uttered by the Ku Klux Klan.

“The reality is, the Congressman not only associated with these radicals — but he spent years spewing their hateful rhetoric,” Hannity charged, referring to the congressman’s time as a law student in the 1980s and 1990s.

“What is the difference, I mean, do we have somebody then in Congress that is the equivalent of one side of what the Klan is?,” he continued. “Because I view the rabid ranting of Khalid Mohammed as frightening in terms of racism, anti-Semitism.”

TPM has a longer version, which includes more of Hannity’s commentary. In it, the host can be seen more fervently recapping the congressman’s past connections with and defense of Farrakhan. While Ellison denounced the Nation of Islam in 2006 when Hannity said his past caught up with him, many questions still remain.

Hannity also read a statement on-air from the congressman’s office. Here’s the text of the release, which was later provided to TPM by Ellison’s spokesperson:

“Tomorrow, a set of devastating cuts will hit every American, costing 750,000 jobs over the course of the year if Congress doesn’t act. The seriousness of these cuts was the subject and context of my spirited exchange with Sean Hannity on Tuesday night.

Americans deserve journalists who provide responsible, objective reporting. Instead, Sean Hannity is bringing up my religion and making personal attacks. This is sad. Can we get back to what’s best for the American people now?”

So, there you have it. There’s clearly little love between Hannity and Ellison. But the congressman’s background, regardless of how long ago his controversial associations were formed and later rejected, is sure to create emotions ranging from intrigue to caution.

  Ellison is a person with an unsavory past well beyond anything the typical person may have been exposed to such as smoking pot, knowing a drug dealer or a buddy who hit a girlfriend, or who drove drunk. I find all of these things wrong and abhorent yet none of them hold the same seriousness as someone who is in one of the highest elected offices of the land spending 10 or more long years espousing the vile, hateful, and repugnant thoughts and ideas of racism, antisemetic, and antichristian rhetoric to encite others into action such as that or Mr. Ellison. While he claims it is in his past, he shows that when slightly pushed his disdain for those who don’t tow his line comes out in an attacking fashon.

Apparently this democrat, plays the Bush card, for all that’s wrong with the political circle. 5 years later and Bush is still around, these mental pygmies couldn’t face the truth if they had to. Ellison’s ties to Islam, doesn’t necessarily make him senator of the year, but what makes him dangerous is the fact that he’s been hiding his real beliefs behind his office. After watching the interview, I feel he is unfit to hold his office. The hate, and distain that he showed toward Hannity, was and is all wrong. The way he acted, if he was my kid, automatic time out , no dinner, TV, and he’d be forced to watch old Ronald Reagan movies.

People seem to forget that Hannity is not a journalist. He’s a talk show host with an opinion. Ellison deserves to be exposed for what he actually is. If the journalists did their job in this country, they’d be respected. Instead, they lick the feet of oba-mao!

Seems fairly petty of Hannity. I’m sure this congressmen is a bum, and Farrakhan is way off, but as a professional journalist to “look into him” after a heated exchange. Well, that’s kind of the stuff that teenage girls do. Besides, I thought we were all tired of Fox News aka the Rino news network,doing our speaking for us? I find Ellison’s response very amusing, especially since I just happen to have been watching Hannity that night. Hannity did have him on to discuss the budget cuts but right off the bat, Ellison came on and starting hurling insults like a bat out of hell. But that’s the way of a liberal, they do what they do and then blame it on someone else for their decisions and behavior.

Funny thing about provable facts, if you’re interested in truth, you can find them. Fact 1: Almost all of cable news is down after the 2012 election year cycle. Fact 2: Fox news is still by far the most watched cable news. Fact 3: In recent weeks, Hannity is down 10-11%.

I do not support the KKK, neither should our hate of the violence the KKK was guilty of, allow a revenge group to take its place? Does it mean every follower of the KKK was a bad person, or did bad things, or that every thing a Supreme Court Justice did, should be thrown out?

I don’t believe so, but in order to stop the violence, people had to reject the KKK, just like they are rejecting the threats that Islam poses to the US Constitution? Keep up the great work Sean Hannity, we love you!

So lets play a fun game of guilt by association as Hannity is playing with Ellison. Hannity has on his show as a frequent guest Marc Fuhrman. MArc Furhman is former LAPD that lied under oath and there is audio of him using racial slurs over and over yet Hannity has him on. So guilt by association would mean that Hannity is a liar and a racist as well .

What about Hannity and his association wiht Hal Turner, the Neo nazi in new jersey he had on his show on WABC in NY. So by Hannitys own standards he is a neo nazi as well

It is ironic though, that Hannity discounts this guy because of his ties when Hannity has a few shady ties himself. But his followers don’t question him about that.
