Is the Sequester Part of an Obama Strategy to Break the GOP?

The sequester began to commence Friday, with no deal in sight, and incendiary remarks exchanged between the president and congressional Republicans in the media.

A Washington Examiner editorial Thursday suggests that the president is not all that serious about governing because he was presented yesterday with options to make the sequester’s ‘arbitrary cuts’ less arbitrary, but he balked. Does that suggest he wants them to go through? Or that he’s trying to position himself as blameless and punish Republicans on the sequester politically?

AEI’s Jim Pethokoukis takes the notion that this is by design one step further, theorizing on NationalReview.com that the sequester is part of Obama’s end game for how he will handle the debt crisis moving forward: cut defense (sequester) and raise taxes (eventually) on the middle class, while praying for a slowdown in health-care spending.

OIC: I disagree, in part. Yes, every Exec Order, bill, law, breath he takes has the destruction of the Conservatives at their root. I don’t think he thinks we are as stupid as we are ambivalent. A big difference which was borne out when millions of conservatives and libertarians did not bother to vote in 2012. Yes, he is stupid as well as arrogant, obsessed, in love with himself, power hungry and determined to be recorded as the most powerful president of ALL TIME. He is more concerned about his legacy than he is for the Country or it’s citizens, many of whom he hates. I disagree that he thinks he is stupid. I think he sees himself as DEVIOUS, CLEVER and DIABOLICAL and that no one can out fox him. I hope history will repeat itself as it has so many times throughout the annals of time, that he will be consumed by his own hatred and anger.

It has been part of his plan from the word go . We ain’t as stupid as he thinks. He is the one who is stupid, and he thinks that because he is , everyone else is.
