Report: Democratic Donor Trying to ‘Gut and Destroy’ Pro-Gun Media

A Democratic donor and one-time suggestion for an Obama cabinet position plans “gut and destroy” pro-gun media, according to a report in the Daily Caller.

An anonymous employee of Intermedia Partners, a private investment firm, told the Daily Caller that managing partner Leo Hindery Jr. is buying up top gun culture media with the intention of “stripping them down to virtual destruction.” Intermedia Partners owns Intermedia Outdoor Holdings, which publishes 17 hunting and gaming magazines; owns the Sportsman Channel; and is in the process of obtaining the Outdoor Channel, pending federal approval:

Prior to its acquisition by InterMedia, the media brand Petersen’s Hunting, the television arm of which is broadcast by the Sportsman Channel, was housed in a “beautiful” facility in Baxter, Minnesota, overlooking the Mississippi River. The facility had approximately 60 employees, a massive studio, at least nine editing bays and fully-wired machine rooms and was conducting about four studio shoots per year with a full production crew.

That facility now mostly consists of about 12 employees — “basic administrative types,” who “think every day they go into work is going to be their layoff day,” according to an InterMedia employee who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Hindery is a Huffington Post blogger once mentioned as a possible secretary of commerce in 2009. He has donated to numerous Democratic candidates, including Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer, and to then-candidate Barack Obama in 2007, according to data posted on OpenSecrets.org.

InterMedia also purchased a company called Barrett Productions in Missoula, Mont., which was previously a thriving and well-respected television production company. The Barrett facility is now “gutted.”

“There’s nothing there but one intern slash production assistant and one administrative type. All the production people are gone. It’s a shell,” according to the employee.

“Now that Hindery has the Outdoor Channel, he’s in a position to consolidate all of the major pro-Second Amendment media titles in this country, strip them down, and destroy them, like venture capitalists do sometimes,” the employee said.

  Fortunately, this genius doesn’t understand capitalism (big shocker for a socialist!
  , I know!). You have to either regulate everyone as a whole or reduce the demand if you want to gut an industry. If he guts some pro second amendment media sources, new ones will rise or existing competitors will flourish like never before, so long as there is a demand. So if he wants to piss all his money away, he can knock himself out. Sucks for the individuals at these companies who lose their jobs but the industry as a whole will be unaffected.

Ted Nugent has new show a new show on the Sportsman Channel. NRA just started showing one of there radio shows on tv i think it’s Cam and co., or something like that. makes me wonder why they plan to gut these channels that they would start the new shows with Ted Nugent for sure. guess we will have to wait and see. god bless america.

  It won’t work. Unlike progressive programming on MSNBC, Current TV, and Air America, the Hunting and Outdoors has an actual market. Shut one TV station down, another will come to fill the void. They willgo bankrupt before they can shut them all down.

Obama is teaching people to Hate Corporations and to Hate the “Rich”(I don’t know a Rich person myself, I do know people who dump money into their kids etc.)….

I think this is pretty simple when I say that maybe you will be “Rich” under Obama, but the Ghetto always votes Democrat, and that says a whole lot about how his Economy will end up.

  I met a sad man in the bar right after the election…..He said he was making 250k selling bar stools to new bars before Obama….He spent almost all his money that night at the bar drinking, and I told him “Hey the sun will rise tomorrow, and if you are lucky you can watch it set.”…..I hope he took my advice and put his beer money into his ammo cache….

  Wow.. this is an excellent idea. I would not miss a single episode. I like the Blaze TV but it is too much like Fox or CNN where there are a ton of talk shows saying the same thing. Ted’s show needs to be put on The Blaze TV.

What an evil sob! He’s purposefully put a bunch of people out of their good paying jobs. This guy bought the production facilities and I’m sure, a lot of the programming (even more jobs thrown away) and possibly a cable channel. This had to be a good chunk of change to just throw away. I don’t know what they’re worth but how many people can afford to throw 10′s of millions away? Hopefully his purchase of the channel can be stopped. I don’t know if he did anything illegal but immoral, you bet! I also hope there is something there to investigate!

  What you do is set up new companies that he has to buy. You charge him an arm & a leg.
  
  If all the media production people who love guns stick together they can all retire multi-millionaires.
  
  If Hindery pays enough for a company then you have funds to buy all new equipment. He fires the people with the intellectual capital. Essentially what he has is a DOMAIN NAME & that is it.
  
  Make him pay 10, 20 30 million or more for each one! Every time he pays 20 million dollars for a $10 million dollar company he loses 10 million from the get go.
  
  That is 10 million less to go to Democrat campaign coffers

  So far all the trips he has taken around the country to blame the GOP and scream about the sequestration, he could have kept almost everyone of them from being furloughed. But that would have meant he would have to stay in DC and actually work. His golf outing could have saved over 600 people from being laid off.
