TheBlazeTV’s S.E. Cupp said Friday on MSNBC that she wasn’t “pressured” by the left-leaning network to boycott the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the largest annual gathering of conservatives.
“There’s been this idea that somehow this network pressured me out of speaking at CPAC. Not even possible. Didn’t happen,” she said on MSNBC. “I also work for Glenn Beck who, I don’t know if it gets more conservative than Glenn. My employers on either side were not a factor in this. This was my decision.”
Cupp announced Tuesday that she wouldn’t be attending CPAC due to organizers of the event barring gay Republican groups from sponsoring it. She commented further on the decision, saying “it’s just become increasingly uncomfortable … to endorse an event that is in some ways excluding and in many ways marginalizing” gay Republicans.
“These are people who have worked doubly hard on our behalf, having to reconcile their private lives with their political lives,” she said. “They’ve risked much more than we have in fighting to advance conservative policies.”
Cupp, also a co-host of MSNBC’s The Cycle, went on to say that gay Republicans should be “rewarded with positions of prominence” within the party. “We can’t keep doing these purity tests that try to exclude hardworking conservatives who are begging to be let in, who are begging to be on our side,” she said.
Cupp was specifically referring to CPAC’s decision to exclude two gay Republican groups, GOProud and Log Cabin Republicans, as sponsors of CPAC. Both groups have served as sponsors in the past but were told they could not participate the event last year
Jimmy LaSalvia, co-founder of GOProud, told media news site FishbowlDC he will not attend CPAC if his group cannot sponsor the event. But he also said that “boycotts are stupid.”
Asked about Cupp’s decision to boycott the event, he told TheBlaze he is “very grateful for SE’s support of GOProud.”
This isn’t the first time CPAC organizers have made news ahead of their event next month. Al Cardenas, president of the American Conservative Union which produces CPAC, said this week New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) was not invited to speak because he “made it very hard for Republicans in the Congress at a time when we were trying to deal with fiscal restraint.”
We’ve requested comment from CPAC organizers.

Mar. 1, 2013 at 4:15pm@PZWLB if you think that the ledger is not balanced between the parties than you suffer from the ideological pathology that is destroying true democracy and our country as we know it. It isn’t the reduction in faith, it isn’t the perceived reduction in personal responsibility or some fictitious good vs. bad spectrum of liberal vs. conservative. It is the zealots on both side of the isle who argue entrenched extremes for no other purpose than to feed the respective angry mob and present a bargaining position. The problem is that too many actually believe their extreme positions are right despite evidence to the contrary. There is nothing more dangerous today than the “belief entitlement” people represent as a constitutional right. Regardless of the whether those beliefs are rooted in science, observed behavior or rational thought. In fact many take pride in the fact that their beliefs are counter intuitive, absent of scientific support, blatantly irrational and reinforced by individuals who realized they can make absurd amounts of money pandering to this type of ignorance.

Its not that. Its that they want to try and force others to accept them as normal, force others to associate with them, force our children to accept their practices as normal. They’re all about force, offense, and thuggish tactics. If they wanted to get government out of marriage that would be fine by me, but that is not the case. They want to use the government to force acceptance of a life style. If that is their path, they will never be my allies, countrymen or compatriots.

Mar. 1, 2013 at 4:39pmWhy do people have to define themselves by what kind of sex they enjoy? Why do you have to insist I accept someone’s identity based on his sexual perversion? I long for the day when Jesus returns to set everything right and restore the created, natural order. God’s grace is available for everyone and I hope you all take advantage of the only way to God’s grace, Jesus Christ, but I’m getting tired of people rejecting God’s sovereignty over his creation and ignoring his rules for beneficial living. Sin affects everyone. Sinful lifestyles poison the culture. I’m tired of it. I long for my home.

You shouldn’t be treating anyone differently simply because they happen to pref to have relationships with the same sex. Mar. 2, 2013 at 11:45am@Search Do you like to hang out with pedophiles? Or how about rapist? Maybe those who practice bestiality? See for those of us that do not have a sexual perversion, those things are all in the same category WITH homosexuality.
Lets talk science here – First off that back door was meant for removing waste, it does not flex like lady parts, hence the health issues associated with that life style.
Second sex is about procreating, not getting off.
Third, sex is not the only OR primary way love is expressed so stop acting like people cant love each other without sex. Do you love your mom? Dad? Brother, sister? How often do yall have sex to show it?
So when you scream about it doesn’t matter what we do? You are right, but just as I don’t hang out or condone rapist, pedophiles or those practicing bestiality, I will NOT condone or ACCEPT what you do either.

Mar. 3, 2013 at 11:11amOLDMANTX, there is a grand difference between a homosexual relationship and bestiality, pedophilia and rape. A homosexual relationship is based on adults giving CONSENT, the other three are based on one person FORCING themselves on a person (or animal) who is incapable of giving consent. You are a sick, sick person and a buffoon if you are incapable of recognizing the difference.
As to your second point, yes, sex is about “getting off”. Sex is not only for procreation, but how mammals, in particular humans who have romantic feelings for one another, bond. Our bodies produce chemicals during sex (regardless if it is heterosexual or homosexual) that increases the bond between the participants.
While you call others who do not share your views perverts, your third point shows just what a sick pervert you are, in equating romantic love with familial love. There is a wide gulf of difference between the two. How dare you call other people perverts, when you are the one incapable of recognizing such differences.

Christ is against gay marriage:
4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
—Matthew 19
Are members of GOProud being excluded from CPAC or are they being excluded as a sponsor?
To your point about Christ not excluding anyone, yes, but just like in the “he who is without sin cast the first stone” incident with the woman caught in adultery, Jesus told her that He forgave her and to go and sin no more—that is exactly what Jesus would tell homosexuals today (and everyone else for that matter). He would tell them He forgives them of their sins and to go and sin no more. Love keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. And Love died on the cross a couple thousand years ago and then rose from the dead. His name is Jesus. No other name has been given under heaven that men might be saved. Homosexuals are eligible for grace just like anyone else.
At some point in their lives, due to external things, gays are enticed by spirits of perversion and they choose to engage in things that ought not to be done, unnatural things. But the Good News is they can be set free from these spirits of perversion by inviting Jesus into their hearts. Then the grace of Jesus will change them from the inside out—spirit, sou

Mar. 1, 2013 at 4:04pm@ searcher619,
When a society legislates and promotes perversion, it has an adverse effect on all of that society. When the ruling authorities in a society thumb their noses at the laws of the Most High God by calling evil (homosexuality) good, then God withdraws His blessing and hedge of protection and the chaos of judgment commences. That is, the proportion that a society goes against the will of God, that is the proportion God withdraws His hedge of blessing and protection. And as God withdraws, the Devil has room to come in and do his thing. Demons have a freer reign and they are attracted to evil human inclinations like flies are attracted to fresh dung. You can see this now across America as we draw away from God. The tragic accidents come from the Devil doing his thing and the bizarre crimes and shootings and what not are the result of demons stoking the evil inclinations of human flesh. We are reaping and sowing this spiritual law now in America. So all of America is suffering the effects of what our political leaders have wrought with their foolish rulings sanctioning perversion. If we expect God’s blessings on our society, we need to turn back to Him. Otherwise, the chaos of judgment and destruction has only just begun.

People are not born gay. Identical twins where one is gay and the other is not proves that. Also, the fact that there is no gay gene proves it.
Being gay is a choice. But being straight is not a choice. People are born straight, as that is the normal, default condition. So for straights, that is just the way they are, there isn’t a choice that comes into play. For gays however, at some point in their lives, due to external things, they are enticed by spirits of perversion and they choose to engage in things that ought not to be done, unnatural things.

If anyone wants to support the platform that all Americans can embrace; One of smaller government, freedom to make moral choices and upholding the constitution then they can indeed participate. If on the other hand you and they want to try to force conservatives into a confrontation with God, then just go away!
This is another example of what I have said about many libertarians. If they are not believers in God as I understand IS THE CASE OF se cupp, they will end up in the lap of liberals on a lot of issues because they have no way to make proper measure of right and wrong. It ends up being pretty much the same reason liberals cannot make those proper measurements. Neither do they trust that God has done so and seek to get others to oppose what they think is a false God’s imposition upon man.
God fearing Libertarians who have God as a foundation and really trust in him, make some of the best advocates for true liberty.
It is unfortunate, because her advocacy could have been to get the Gay right folk and conservatives to get government out of the marriage business. that would have allowed them to become keepers of records for the sake of advocations and judgements in courts of law. Gay right advocates have sought by many including courts to force Christians against their consciences to be silent in certain ways on this abomination.

Mar. 1, 2013 at 3:57pmSeriously..? You are crapping on her simply because she feels gay conservatives shouldn’t be excluded from things like this? You DO know that conservatism has nothing at all to do with what goes on in your bedroom right? People like you disgust me.

Mar. 2, 2013 at 1:56am@searcher the closed door argument is extremely worn. We all know it doesn’t stay there. That is why we are in this social conundrum contemplating a repetition of history. You want to teach our children that sexual deviance is okay and potentially even preferred. You would appreciate if you could start your brainwashing when they are say 5 years if age, maybe younger. Studies have shown that the younger a child is, the more easily it is to influence their thoughts on social and other issues. In any event just stop with the behind closed door arguments. If you truly left it there (behind closed doors) we wouldn’t be having these convesations in the first place.
