She’s ‘Armed & Fabulous’: Meet 13-Yr-Old Shooting Star Katelyn Francis

Like most 13-yr-old girls, Katelyn (Katie) Francis has a Facebook page. However, unlike most 13-yr old girls, the young Miss Francis describes herself like this: “Katelyn is a 13 year old who enjoys competing in Multi Gun matches around the country.

It was on Facebook that we first spotted Katelyn in this video titled, “Fight Like A Girl. Watch This Little Girl Shoot Like A BOSS.”

That short video showed Katie competing in a three-gun event. The first weapon used, also known as a “stage gun,” is provided by the match and used by all of the competitors, was an Adaptive Combat Rifle or ACR. Katelyn then continues through the course using her Benelli 12 gauge shotgun and her Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol.

Shooting is in the young lady’s DNA. Her father, Sgt. First Class Chad Francis, happens to be the state marksmanship coordinator for the Missouri Army National Guard. Dad Chad has been teaching his daughter about guns and gun safety since she was five years old. Katie told the NRA, “Dad taught there’s 10 gun safety rules. He made me say them over and over again. My dad’s a real stickler about making me always be safe.”

When she was 9-yrs-old, Katie started pestering her dad to take her hunting and shooting. Her mom was not exactly supportive of this request, but eventually relented and dad gave the young girl a .22. The next year, when she turned 10, Katie graduated to a 9mm pistol.

Father and daughter have both been shooting competitively since 2010.

The NRA has also taken note of Katelyn’s abilities and produced a video profile that hit the organization’s website earlier this week:

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Great story; beautiful young girl enjoying competitive shooting with her dad. Hope she is not ostracized at school for being a shooting aficionado. Such a contrast with most of the gun stories we hear and read about with youngsters being made to hate and fear guns.

Trust me. This is one kid who isn’t going to be ostracized, and if she was… wouldn’t care. She looks to be more independent, self-confident and mature than most well-adjusted adults.

All I can say is… if when my 12 year old grows up, if he comes home with a grown up Katie Francis on his arm and doesn’t marry her, I’ll kick his a$$ myself.

Congrats to what has to be an amazingly proud father.

Death culture? I’ll bet that she has never killed anyone, and I’m durn shure that it’s gonna be hard for someone to kill her.
Actually, the Death Culture involves the propagation of stories and movies where the bad guys win, and then passing laws to prevent folks from being able to defend themselves. It also involves ostracism of people like Katie who know how to handle deadly force safely.
It also involves folks who make apologies for bad people who commit violent crimes. These people must be put down by good folks who obey the law and follow the rules. Violent crime needs to be dealt with severely at the point of perpetration. That is the only deterrent, as prisons have become valid places to live as opposed to a severe punishment to be avoided.
Deterrence and active defense are the only two elements that will make a difference in active shooter situations. Laws are only effective after the fact. It’s no good to have scores of dead kids but you sure have a bunch of laws that you can prosecute the perp with. Oh. I guess a lot of perps take their own life. Laws are surely effective in those cases….

I would put pro gun, hunting kids like Katelyn up against the spawn of Progressives any day of the week. No doubt, pro gunners have much higher values, self determination, self reliance, and kindness, and respect for others. Difference between Conservatives and Progressives? Conservatives want to make decisions for themselves and allow others to make their own decisions (AND suffer the consequences if the decision is a wrong one). Progressives, on the other hand, want just the opposite, to decide for themselves AND everyone else, (not to mention the hypocrisy so endemic on the left of “do as I say, not as I do”) and will use whatever means that will accomplish that, legal or not, ethical or not. They have no respect for democracy, the Constitution, or the law, and if a legal decision, the Constitution, or a vote does not go their way, they free free to ignore it, along with any oaths they may have sworn to uphold the law. They also don’t believe people should suffer the consequences of their actions, and if monetary loses are involved, someone else should pay for it.

I’m a pretty normal person, really. Yes, I do have a strong opinion about religions, in general, but it has less to do with me attempting to be mean to those who are religious, and more about my life long struggle to have a literal religious experience. I would want anyone to know that I am not against any person who is religious. . . . . . . . . well, except for the radical jihadist, of course.

But when it comes to many conservative issues, like the gun issue, I am a definite supporter of the 2nd Ammendment and women/girls going out to learn proper handling/safety and enjoyable shooting experiences. :-)

Hi sir, I’m replying to your comment below, as there is no reply box.
May I indulge you for a moment about MY take on Christianity, or what I believe it’s intended to be.
First off, it isn’t intended to be a religion. My definition of religion is people doing xyz to become closer to God, or so they think. Imo, there is nothing you can do to make God love you more, and, likewise, there is nothing you can do to make God love you less. Think about it for a second. If the God of Abraham is indeed the God who created the universe and all within it, and, He took the time to allow you to become a human, with everything that makes you, well, you. You were not a random mistake. You were thought about before the universe we can see even existed. I know that sounds hard, if not impossible to understand, but I believe it’s true. God wants nothing more from us than for us to love Him back, as best we can, and to show that same kind of love to our fellow man. That’s it. Jesus, after he returned, told us the same. “These commandments I leave you: Love God with all your heart, mind, and spirit, and love your neighbor as yourself.”
If we can do these 2 simple things, we are one with God.

At 13 y.o. I doubt she’s “armed”, and for “there is 10 gun safety rules” without stating each of the ten, well …

There are four PRECEPTS of gun safety; 1) All guns are LOADED until they aren’t. 2) Cover with the MUZZLE that only which would be destroyed. 3) Keep your finger off the TRIGGER. 4) Know your target and what is beyond.

Further, there are no accidents with a round chambered, a key in the ignition or control rods latched, there is negligence only.

By the time I was her age me and all of my friends had bagged bucks, turkeys, squirrels, rabbit, duck and coons. Growing up in a rual community you got a bb gun at 6, a pellet gun at 8 ,shot gun at 10 and a rifle at 12. Instructions and rules on the proper use of each. And each stage was a test if you failed any of them you didn’t advance to the next level. No one ever shot anything they didn’t intend too and the only accident ever was a improper reload shell.
I remember knocking bottle caps with open sights at 50 plus yards.
