Some Think This Video Shows a UFO Came to Shoot Down the Russian Meteor…Here’s Why

It has been two weeks since a meteorite came down in Russia, sending a window-breaking sonic boom and injuring nearly 1,500 people. But with the time that has elapsed since, analysis has been conducted of the footage that was captured on vehicle dashcams, causing some to think they can spot a UFO crashing into the celestial rock.

The Siberian Times reported UFO enthusiasts saying they see a UFO around the meteor that hits the rock and smashes it as it’s flying toward Chelybinsk.

“At first, we also believed that the Chelyabinsk meteorite was just an ordinary meteorite, a cosmic body,” Alexander Komanev with the Russian UFO community in Yekaterinburg said to the Siberian Times. “But facts began to emerge. In the internet began to appear videos, at least three of which were similar, on which you can see how an object catches the meteorite.”

Watchers Claim Footage Shows UFO Flying Into Russian Meteor

UFO watchers believe what is circled in red could be a UFO about to smash into the meteor. (Image: YouTube screenshot)

“Such a number of videos, made from different angles makes us believe that something blew up the meteorite…,” Komanev continued according to the Times.

Here’s some of that footage:

As the video’s description explains (via Google Translate), “look just below the tail and see the UFO that catches up and runs into a meteor breaks it and goes away.”

Watchers Claim Footage Shows UFO Flying Into Russian Meteor

(Image: YouTube screenshot)

Here’s a non-dramatized version of the video for your reference:

Now, we should point out that there is always the potential for CGI (computer graphics imagery) to fake content in videos such as this, so watch it with that in mind. The particles could also likely be from the meteor itself.

Even still, Komanev thinks he has further evidence that could dispel some of this doubt:

To the untrained eye, it is hard to tell what was happening here, but Komanev suggests that prior to the the meteorite’s fall there was an upsurge in UFO sightings.

His ‘second supporting argument’ is that ‘since 2012 we have registered an increase of UFO activity. We began to receive more testimonies of eyewitnesses.’

He explained: ‘Usually we get two messages about UFO per month. Since the beginning of February we received four messages.’

After the meteorite hit though, he told the Siberian Times the organization has receive no reports of UFOs.

There was also speculation the same day of the event that meteor was shot down by a military missile. Here’s more on that theory from Russia Today:

The local newspaper Znak reported the meteorite was intercepted by an air defense unit at the Urzhumka settlement near Chelyabinsk. Quoting a source in the military, it wrote a missile salvo blew the meteorite to pieces at an altitude of 20 kilometers.

Regnum news agency quoted a military source who claimed that the vapor condensation trail of the meteorite speaks to the fact that the meteorite was intercepted by air defenses.

The Russian government has denied these rumors though.

A parliament member, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, said he thought it could have been the U.S.:

“Those were not meteorites, it was Americans testing their new weapons,” Mr. Zhirinovsky confessed to journalists. “[US Secretary of State] John Kerry wanted to warn [Russia’s Foreign Minister] Lavrov on Monday, he was looking for Lavrov, and Lavrov was on a trip. He meant to warn Lavrov about a provocation against Russia,” he said.

When it comes to the UFO theories, some have taken it a step further thinking the entire object might have been a UFO, not a meteor. The Huffington Post reported Alexei Grazhdankin with the Moscow-based polling agency, the Levada Center, saying past studies have revealed 25 percent of Russians believe in UFOs. He said some of the skepticism in the meteorite strike is due to past events “when news of disasters was concealed or lied about.”

Still, Grazhdankin told HuffPost although a poll has not been conducted to evaluate thoughts from locals regarding the origins of what flew through the sky February 15, he believes the majority of the population would accept the official explanation that it was a meteor.

Fragments of the meteor have been being collected by scientists since the event for analysis. Viktor Grokhovsky, who led the expedition from Urals Federal University, said last week that 53 fragments of the meteor have been plucked from the ice-covered Chebarkul Lake. He said they are less than a centimeter (half an inch) in size, about 10 percent iron, and belong to the chondrite type, the most common variation of meteorites found on Earth.

People are such idiots. And now we’re giving them all a bunch of technology they could never understand, much less create. And they see magic everywhere they look.

And we wonder why the world is going to heck in a handbasket?

I give our species about 20 more years at best. Then it’s back to the caves for a few thousand years.

I’m starting to look forward to it.

Here’s a thought for ya. Suppose the history of the Earth from the time it was formed 4.6 billion years ago to the present were represented by 12 hours on a clock. How long would you guess humans have been around on that scale? A couple of hours maybe? And hour? 30 minutes maybe?

Wrong! A scant two seconds. On a twelve hour scale, the human race has been here only the last blink of an eye. We humans tend to think the planet is a fairly safe place outside of earthquakes and volcanoes. But that’s only because we haven’t been around long enough to witness the really bad things like big meteor strikes or super-volcanoes.

At least 99% of the big rocks out there that could slam into the Earth, destroying a city, a country, or laying waste to Earth are unknown, just like this one that exploded over Russia. These big rocks are mostly invisible and humans – outside some amateur astronomers – aren’t even looking for them.

It’s not a question of if but when a big one will slam into the Earth. In all likelihood we’ll never see it coming, anymore than we saw the one that hit Russia.

      Sleep tight!

Two questions: How fast was the meteor moving? Slow enough for a Russian missile to shoot it down?

Given that the universe is about three times older than our solar system, how far could some alien species be evolved over us? If we have been around for 2 seconds, they may have been around for 20 hours.

Great post, but with that in mind would you agree that it’s ridiculous to say man has caused global warming. When you make the scale as large as you have it kills the global warming argument. The global temperature in the past has been much hotter than today as well as much colder. But many global warming advocates seem to only point to the past 150 years. Where were the suvs when the last ice age ended?

They usually are in a pattern in the sky, like a grid, I even witnessed an X pattern with a circle are it, very strange. Even stranger, I took photo’s of these odd trails that stopped and started, looked to me like morse code. I still have these pictures. Something is definitely going on.

Two meteorites following the same trajectory intersecting. The smaller meteorite traveling faster because of size, density and shape catching up and hitting the larger meteorite that has a greater size and resistance to the atmosphere being slower. Probably? But a UFO or predator drone is more interesting. Thank goodness for Marvin the Martian. Or, maybe it was an elaborate publicity stunt for the new Superman movie opening this summer. The Man Of Steel. It appears the gravity of the Earth or other body caused a fragment to break off while it was still an asteroid. This fragment drifted some distance away from the main piece, and in the opposite direction of the main piece’s trajectory. Or another asteroid entirely was “hooked” by the larger piece as it passed by. Either way, the gravity of the larger piece caused the fragment (or other asteroid) to follow along behind it from a great distance. The fragment was more aerodynamically shaped as you can see. The larger piece entered the atmosphere prior to the fragment. It was abruptly slowed as it descended through the thickening layers of sky. The less aerodynamic larger piece slowed more abruptly than did the fragment. The fragment seems to have “drafted” in the wake of the larger piece allowing it to maintain more velocity. Then, it struck the larger piece with enough force to pass through it – causing it to shatter.

      Simple.

Actually, the accepted explanation is that friction with the atmosphere heats the meteor to extremely high temperatures, and that volatiles (such as water) trapped in the interior expand until the meteor explodes.

Either that or they are destroyed using a ray gun by extraterrestrials sent to protect the Earth.

      You decide.

I think smoot has the explanation, not only for this one, but for all meteors that explode in the sky. I never bought the claim that the air could cause a rock to explode – all it can do is vaporize the surface. The G forces should never cause an explosion on entering the atmosphere.

Assuming, of course, the video isn’t faked. But even if it is, this is still a plausible explanation for what often happens.

Well, let us put this to rest real quickly. The Russians never shot it down; the meteor was traveling at 40,000 mph. Nothing man made can go that fast, our fastest missile is the Minute Man ICBM, it’s top speed is 15,000 mph and is not accurate enough to hit a neighborhood, let alone to hit an object on the move, then we have the theory of aliens, seriously? Star Trek fans know they cannot interfere with other planets, lmao. That’s as close as I can come to a serious answer to that.

Not entirely true. We do have things that go faster than 15,000 mph. Escape velocity for earth is roughly 25,000mph so all of our rockets, shuttles etc had to be going that fast or faster to escape earth’s atmosphere. I’m just splitting hairs here but I do agree that you are correct in saying that there is no way that the meteor was shot down.

Orbital velocity is 17,000 mph. Escape velocity is 25,000 mph. It’s why we went to the moon in stages. The Saturn V was too heavy for a direct shot from the earth to the moon. The earth’s orbital velocity is about 70,000 mph so that was about the speed at which we hit the meteor…which could’ve been coming in at 30,000 mph for a combined closing speed of 100,000 mph. Meteors have been clocked that fast and faster. Atmospheric friction suddenly superheats the icy cold rock from the -250 degrees of space to +8,000 degrees in a matter of seconds…instantly vaporizing it…resulting in a spectacular explosion into a plasma fireball. This thing was about 18 miles up. The smoke trail was french fried superheated atmosphere. Not even Israel’s advanced Iron Dome missile shield is fast enough to take out an incoming object this fast. There is no known defense against such an object. Russian claims that they intercepted it with a missile are pure bool squeeze. Nice try Ivan…

DId anyone else feel the impending sense of death for three days before the meteor? It was a reason to pray. Hopefully others who felt it too prayed. Whether it be divine intervention, a UFO’s intercept, or man’s military defenses, I am so thankful for this grace given to Earth.
Are there UFOs? They were mentioned in a prophecy, October 27, 1973: “You yourselves have seen unto each of you that which you would call of your UFOs. These have been sent forth from other planetary systems to observe the effect upon the Earth. Yet, they should look unto the effect upon themselves, for our Father has sent forth these words, ‘THE HALFTIMES ARE OVER. PREPARE THERE, EACH WITHIN YOURSELVES.’”
Whether this was one of the “signs in the heavens,” that the world saw, I don’t know.
But I do know our Father has said no one knows, not even the angels of heaven know the exact day or hour (the Messiah will come). Through many prayers the timing may have been moved forward, but the meaning of the prophecy remains clear, even more so, with today’s news.
