White House Twitter Account Responds to Star-Gate, Actually Posts Sci-Fi-Themed Obama Photo

During his “Sequester Presser” on Friday, President Barack Obama set social media on fire by conflating Star War with Star Trek, two very different things (according sci-fi fans the world over).

While arguing that he has been perfectly reasonable in budget negotiations with the GOP, the president said that some seem to think “that I should somehow do a Jedi mind meld with these folks and convince them to do what’s right.”

However, as sci-fi nuts everywhere will tell you, it’s either “Jedi mind trick” or the “Vulcan mind meld.” You can’t mix the two up.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter blew up with everyone weighing on the president’s sci-fi misstep. In fact, the back and forth became so great on social media that the White House’s official Twitter account (yes, you read that right) just minutes ago posted the following picture:

Also, in case you were wondering, if you try to go to the White House’s “Jedi Mind Meld” site, it just redirects you a site crowded with a bunch of sequester data.

Final Thought: While we can certainly appreciate the humor in the above graph, we find its reference to the Star Wars prequels (“We must bring balance to the Force“) unforgivable. I thought we had all agreed never to speak of those movies again.

Shame on them.

You guys really don’t get it?!…If this was set up by his people they are making fun of his policies and him….They think he’s in freaking outer space. His own publicists think he’s so far out there that it’s unbelievable, but the morons that protect him, including citizens don’t get it, because there is no way a black man could be evil….BLAHAHAHAHAHAHA!…they’ve never created a civil society in the history of mankind….they’re not capable of it!!!!!!

If the Dems had passed a balanced budget when they had the majority – like they are required to do BY LAW, we wouldn’t be having these problems. Sorry, but this is completely on the shoulders of the dems for failure to do their jobs.

Okay, as a sci-fi fan I find the Star Wars and Star Trek references amusing regardless of the mix up. Now, Jedi is Star Wars, mind-meld is Star Trek.

If you count the title of this article then you have three sci-fi franchises mentioned here. The Star-gate franchise is SG-1, Atlantis, Universe and associated movies.

Ten or so posters have been “awarded 50 points”, by me, rhetorically speaking, over the last weeks or so, at least one other one 100, but I hadn’t been planning to actually reconstitute the Scoring List. It was just sort of a rhetorical recognition of the clever use of quotes. However I HAD kept an “Official List” when I was posting regularly at Town Hall and Fox. That actually got pretty fun.
