How Much Money Did Sean Hannity’s On-Air Battle With Rep. Keith Ellison Raise?

How Much Did Everyone Make From Sean Hannitys On Air Battle With Rep. Keith Ellison?

Fox News

NEW YORK (AP) — Sean Hannity’s cable television showdown this week with a Democratic congressman has become more than just a verbal schoolyard brawl. It’s an opportunity – for money, attention and ratings.

Democratic and Republican advocates are using Tuesday’s Fox News Channel appearance by Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison for fundraising, even as the newly minted feud continues. Hannity continued a discussion about Ellison’s career on his show Friday.

Ellison opened his appearance on Tuesday’s show by calling Hannity “the worst excuse for a journalist that I’ve ever seen,” and their discussion descended from there. Hannity, who accused the congressman of “ranting,” ended the gripping back-and-forth after eight minutes because “our audience deserves better.”

The congressman appeared upset by a Hannity commentary just before his appearance that ridiculed President Barack Obama’s speeches about fiscal negotiations.

Video clips of the confrontation spread online, and it swiftly became a partisan talking point. Conservative blogger Michelle Malkin tweeted that Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, waged a “verbal jihad,” or holy war, against Hannity. Martin Bashir, on his liberal MSNBC talk show, called the appearance “the utter evisceration of Sean Hannity on his own broadcast.”

The lobbying group Progressive Change Campaign Committee sent out a solicitation to its supporters, urging them each to donate $3 to Ellison’s campaign account or send him a thank you note. By Friday afternoon, the solicitation had raised $21,600, co-founder Adam Green said, with an additional $3,000 for a foundation supporting liberal congressional candidates.

Another liberal group, Democracy For America, also sent out an email to its supporters seeking donations in Ellison’s name, spokesman T. Neil Sroka said.

“If you attack a hero of our movement, we’re going to come back even stronger,” Sroka said.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Republican Party posted a clip of the appearance on its website and asked for contributions. According to the website, nearly $47,000 of a fundraising goal of $50,000 had been pledged.

Hannity returned to the issue on his show Wednesday and Thursday, referring to an “epic meltdown” by the “incoherent congressman.” A “Hannity” report Thursday explored Ellison’s ties to polarizing personalities such as Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan.

“If I’m called a yellow journalist, immoral, a liar – as a matter of fair play, I did a little research on him, and he’s got some views and friendships that have not been fully vetted,” Hannity said in an interview Friday. “He sparked it. He initiated it.”

He denied that he was out for revenge.

“I follow my gut and instincts on what interests me,” he said. “The fact that a congressman wants to start a fight with me, that’s his business. I have the ability to fight back, and I will.”

The spat could prove a welcome jolt of interest for Hannity when cable news ratings are sagging months since the presidential election. Hannity’s average viewership of 1.9 million people in February was down 11 percent from February 2012, with a much sharper decline among young viewers, the Nielsen ratings company said.

Hannity said his ratings have been stabilizing. His Thursday night show, which featured Washington Post writer Bob Woodward, drew 2.5 million viewers.

Media critic Howard Kurtz, of The Daily Beast, said it was Ellison who had picked the fight and suggested he may have been trying to seek attention.

Ellison was unavailable for comment Friday, his spokesman said. In a statement issued Thursday, Ellison criticized Hannity’s “personal attacks.”

“Representative Ellison was invited to appear on `Hannity’ to discuss the sequester, an issue that will harm thousands of his constituents and the American economy, and accepted the invitation for that reason,” spokesman Jeremy Slevin said.

Just how many of these ” liberal groups” like Democracy For America are there ? And just who funds these groups ? We have been tsunamied by them – like community organizing on steroids. One of the keys to the Left’s control of the media , like our Trolls here, to ” influence ” and to twist. And love the way the Democrats try to stifle corporations’ influence by hollering about Citizens United when the Left has the unions and all of these secretive groups to peddle their propaganda while under the radar .

Obama is failing, and he knows it……He needs a miracle and is expecting divine intercession. Too bad, for him, the ‘god’ he worships does not exist, this side of hell. There is much suffering coming, and its not all his fault, but, the ungodly direction the country is going, now, can be laid at his feet.
This entire scenario can be found, and identified by any person familiar with end time prophecy

I have listened to talk radio (Hannity’s show is very like his radio show) of many types and genres for many years and have come to the conclusion that the person holding the microphone almost always wins the argument.. The problem Mr. Ellison has is that being a member of Congress, he is far to used to having someone else write his material and only practices speaking in sound bites. Holding a train of logical thoughts in order to make a reasonable point in such a discussion the likes of Hannity is not really in Mr. Ellison’s ability.

The left is totally subjugated by fear. The average democrat has no idea what is really going on and is way too gullible. Anyone who has any ability to think critically, can see that assurances and promises from the left are comprised of smoke and mirrors. A medicated salve, being applied to a gaping wound.
As the blood-loss becomes more visible, and this puppet government continues to spoon-feed their base from the rapidly emptying public trough, there will be hell to pay……and NO WAY OUT!!!

Guys like Ellison are a dime a dozen in the Democrat Party which full of these Muslim bastards. Ellison will claim all day and all night that it was because he was either ‘black” or “muslim” that Hannity “attacked” him when the opposite will be true. Progressiveslayer, their called Useful Idiots. If you have never heard the term “useful idiot” it was the attitude held by Vladimir Lenin towards communist sympathizers in the West (America). While Lenin and the Soviets held them in utter contempt they also viewed them as tools for dispensing communist propaganda to other countries, thus infecting foreign cultures with their totalitarian tripe. After their mission was complete, they were no longer “useful.”
This is being done to us through obama and his propaganda machine; OBAMA’S DISTAIN FOR AMERICANS AND THE WHITE RACE
When you’ve read to the end, come back and read this first
      paragraph again.

The character of any man is defined by how he treats his
mother as the years pass …. need I say more about this person below other
than there is no character, no integrity but there is a ton of attitude and
arrogance that defines his shallow past and hollow future …..
I bought and read Obama’s book, Audacity of Hope. It was
difficult to read considering his attitude toward us and everything
American. Let me add a phrase he use to describe his attitude toward whites.
He harbors a “COIL OF RAGE”. His words not mine.

The general Principles, on which the Fathers Atchieved Independence, were the only Principles in which that beautiful Assembly of young Gentlemen could Unite, and these Principles only could be intended by them in their Address, or by me in my Answer. And what were these general Principles? I answer, the general Principles of Christianity, in which all those Sects were united: And the general Principles of English and American Liberty, in which all those young Men United, and which had United all Parties in America, in Majorities sufficient to assert and maintain her Independence.

Now I will avow, that I then believed, and now believe, that those general Principles of Christianity, are as eternal and immutable, as the Existence and Attributes of God; and that those Principles of Liberty, are as unalterable as human Nature and our terrestrial, mundane System. I could therefore safely say, consistently with all my then and present Information, that I believed they would never make Discoveries in contradiction to these general Principles. In favour of these general Principles in Phylosophy, Religion and Government, I could fill Sheets of quotations from Frederick of Prussia, from Hume, Gibbon, Bolingbroke, Reausseau and Voltaire, as well as Neuton and Locke: not to mention thousands of Divines and Philosophers of inferiour Fame.

The word “Journalist” in the Liberal Media doesn’t mean much either. The press should be not only a collective propagandist and a collective agitator, but also a collective organizer of the masses.
When one makes a Revolution, one cannot mark time; one must always go forward – or go back. He who now talks about the “freedom of the press” goes backward, and halts our headlong course towards Socialism.

      No Grass:

All I can find is this:

Jefferson purchased his copy of George Sale’s translation of the Qur’an at a bookseller on Duke of Gloucester Street while completing his legal studies at The College of William and Mary. This translation of the Qur’an, the best transcribed into English up to that moment, was prefaced with Sale’s own introduction:

If the religious and civil Institutions of foreign nations are worth our knowledge, those of Mohammed, the lawgiver of the Arabians, and founder of an empire which in less than a century spread itself over a greater part of the world than the Romans were ever masters of, must needs be so.iv

Sale was also a lawyer and his introduction to the Qur’an as a law book is important for understanding how Jefferson read and related to the Qur’an. Sale placed a heavy emphasis on the notion of Quranic exegesis, treating the Qur’an as it was: a sourcebook for Islamic law.

That info was difficult to locate for sure. Don’t bother with the LOC…

      I found it here:

Thanks for the challenge, although the subject matter is fairly distasteful to me…

Sounds like you know what really happened in history and not the made up version. Funny, that over 200 years of American History, the version told by obama never showed until we got a Muslim president.
      From Audacity of Hope:
“I will stand with the Muslims should
the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
Now when Ellison swore in by the Koran, did he believe was is said;this from when Jefferson and Adams asked the ambassador, why the cruelty. The ambassador answered us that [the right] was founded on the Laws of the Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have answered their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Mussulman who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.

      Thomas Jefferson
It was quite witty of Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., to short-circuit the hostility of those who criticized him for taking his oath on the Quran and to ask the Library of Congress for the loan of Thomas Jefferson’s copy of that holy book. But the irony of this, which certainly made his stupid Christian fundamentalist critics look even stupider, ought to be partly at his own expense as well.
In the first place, concern over Ellison’s political and religious background has little to do with his formal adherence to Islam. In his student days and subsequently, he was a supporter of Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam, a racist and crackpot cult organization that is in schism with the Muslim faith and even with the Sunni orthodoxy now preached by the son of the NOI’s popularizer Elijah Muhammad. Farrakhan’s sect explicitly describes a large part of the human species—the so-called white part—as an invention of the devil and has issued tirades against the Jews that exceed what even the most fanatical Islamists have said.Continued

I too find the research distasteful, but find the ignorance of our society dangerous.

I must be off track (or addled), but I recall that Jefferson had commissioned, or had Congress commission the printing of 50 Korans to show the dark reasons for the Barbary calamities. I further recall, that he had in Inscription/Forward added that basically said (I paraphrase) ‘If you read this, you’ll understand how different and dark these people think.’

My intent was to get the wording of the Inscription/Forward that I speak of above.
It may be that I recall parts of what GPO1913, KPeters59 and Sacredhonor1776 found.

But thank you all anyway. You’re good bunch to have around.
This wouldn’t be the first time I went down the wrong rabbit hole.

Correct, he is not a journalist, he is a political commentator and part of that job is reporting or mostly talk about news, then mixing in opinion with that reporting. It is a different vocation. The political commentators take over the fox broadcast starting at 5 with the 5. Calling Hannity a journalist is like calling Bob Beckel a journalist.

Hannity may not be a journalist, but the black dude is an elected congressman and should have shown some form of restraint in lambasting someone over a question…he wants to scream & holler, let him go back to the ghetto (jungle) that he came from…he certainly shouldn’t have anything to do with my well being, not with an attitude like that…all of these thugs in gov’t now should be thrown out, as they swore to uphold and defend the Constitution and they are not getting anywhere close to doing either one…

If Hannity says “Dirty air and dirty water” one more time I’m gonna scream.
I am so disgusted with the spineless conservatives. They just roll over and let the libs march right over them. They let the 2012 election drift through their fingers like so much sand. They are playing checkers and the Democrats are playing chess. They have an agenda and a long term plan to destroy America and rebuild it in their new vision. The republicans are letting them do it. I have no more respect for them and won’t have until I see impeachment proceedings against this anti-American president and a full push back to the Dems anti-constitution agenda. No more talk. Action is all that counts now, the flapping of their lips is pointless.

Well, if you don’t like what Hannity says then don’t watch him, Paulbot. And you’re right, we let the election slip right through our fingers because you Paulbot’s either stayed at home, wrote in Ron Paul’s name, voted for Gary Johnson or voted directly for Barack Obama. So don’t put all of the blame on the Republicans. You all helped reelect him, we didn’t.

It seems when most demcracks are invited on Fox News to have a fair and balanced show, the liberals are all set to scream, yell, insult, and push their views, all in one breath, and don’t stop shouting that what they say comes out as a bungled mess of hatred. These are the ones Americans pay their salaries and all their entitlements. If they chose not to compromise and not work with conservatives, then let their fellow liberals pay for their salaries, since they don’t work for ALL all the people. Rep Ellison is the poster boy for MUSLIM RAGE, hate, and intolerance.

I saw his infantile ranting on Hannity. This muslim rage is the same that I saw overseas and is similar to the muslim rage coming from the loudspeakers on the mosques.

Hannity needs to keep this topic alive as proof that democrats will continue to support such radical elements who openly shout down others so they can lie freely as they look to instigate mindless mobs bent on destroying America.

This Ellison clown is a classic example of how actual idiots rise to power…with no substance or ability. No ideas…just attacks. No class…just insults. No facts…just misdirection. No truth…just blame.

Clearly Hannity doesn’t know what to do when he is attacked. He let us all down and he lost that debate by being absent but voting ‘present’. Hannity needs TelePrompTers from here on in.

The Bozo ally Keith Ellison needs to sit down and shut up. Call a special election and remove this clown.

We need to make a deck of cards with the faces of Bozo’s new transformational utopia of the Democrat party. Hussein Obama would be the King of Hearts, Keith Ellison would be the Jack of Diamonds. Harry Reid King of Spades, Alan Grayson would be the Queen of Spades. Hillbo Clinton would be the Jack of hearts. Maxine Watters would be the Queen of Hearts and Barney Frank would be the Queen of Clubs.

The new deck of cards of the Bozo’s that have destroyed the Democrat party in Full would sell for 10 bucks.
