‘Hell-Bent’: Lindsey Graham to Oppose Obama CIA Pick Unless He Gets Info on Benghazi Survivors
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) says he wants answers about the Benghazi attack that left four Americans dead on September 11, and he has no intention of voting on the president’s choice for the new director of the CIA until he gets them.
“Here’s what I want– I want the FBI interviews of the survivors two days after the attack,” he began. “They were turned over to the intelligence committee and everything was blacked out…I want to know who the survivors are so we can go interview them.”
With mounting irritation, the South Carolina senator continued: “The transmissions from Benghazi to Washington on the night of the attack — what were people asking for? What were they saying? All that information was given to the committee completely blacked out.”
“I’m not going to vote for [John] Brennan until the CIA — who says they did change the talking points — lets us know who did it and why, and we have a picture of what happened in real time in Benghazi.”
Saying we’re returning to a “pre-9/11″ model of ineffective communication, Graham stated: “John [McCain] and I are hell-bent on making sure the American people understand this debacle called Benghazi…We’re going to get to the bottom of it.”
Senator McCain added that he’s been waiting three weeks on answers to a set of written questions he sent Brennan, adding that he also wants information on American policies on torture.
When asked whether he’ll join Graham in holding up Brennan’s nomination, McCain responded: “I hate to threaten…Why don’t we just get the answers to these questions? They’re not tough questions, and they’re legitimate questions.”
The Senate Intelligence Committee is due to vote early this week on Brennan’s nomination, but Graham concluded: “I’m not going to vote on a new CIA Director until I find out what the CIA did in Benghazi.”
Brennan, who has raised considerable controversy in the past for reasons unrelated to Benghazi, is currently a counter-terrorism adviser to President Obama.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 8:10amIt appears to me that the ONLY US Senator who MAY be worth a dime is Rand Paul.
Graham appeared on the weekend talk shows all in favor of higher taxes; but, “only if the taxes are used to retire the debt.”
Yep, that’s why we have $16.5 trillion in debt and growing. It’s laughable how stupid these idiots think we all are.
Oh, Blazers, don’t you think that it’s just about time for a mass shooting to materialize to take the sequester heat off the White House? I know, they’ll set this one up for Chicago, just to show that Obama is an equal opportunity fascist!

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 1:48pmLindsey Graham should stop wasting congressional time and money on his personal endeavors. His time would be better spent working on real deficit reduction. Instead of the symbolic crap that him and his fellow republicans continue to put forth. SS and Medicare were not the problem for the past 30 years and technically are not the problem now as the respective trust funds are solvent on paper. The problem is the government going back to before Nixon, borrowed from these programs to over spend on the military, infrastructure, IT and foreign aid to countries like Israel who don’t need our money.

He refers to Jerusalem as “al Quds” in speeches, and only Arabs do that.

He said during the campaign he would find the answers to Benghazi ‘after the election’ . I just pray that Graham/Mccain don’t let this die. I can only pray that one day this ‘president’ has to answer for his actions.

Posted on March 3, 2013 at 10:13pm@Soy: you bring up a valid point. I don’t always agree with you but this time you make a good point. I think all questions (and honest answers) are important regarding Benghazi, and those behind that tale of lies should be held responsible. However, the question about Brennan’s position on the assassination of American citezens in foreign countries (or in THIS country!) is important as you say!
Good call. :)
