‘I Am Happy to Blame the Media’: Ann Romney Says Mitt ‘Was Not Given a Fair Shake’

AP
Ann Romney said the media didn’t give Mitt “a fair shake” and that she’s happy to blame them for her husband’s loss to President Barack Obama.
“He was not being given a fair shake. People weren’t allowed to see him for who he really was,” she said in a joint interview with the former Republican presidential nominee — their first since the election — aired Sunday on Fox News.
Asked whether she blames the media, Ann Romney replied, “I am happy to blame the media.” Asked if she believes they were “in the tank” for Obama, she laughed.
“I think that any time you are running for office you always think that you are being portrayed unfairly, and, you know, we — of course, on our side believe there is more bias in favor of the other side. I think that, you know, that’s a pretty universal — universally felt opinion,” Ann Romney said.

Posted on March 3, 2013 at 3:56pmTrue dat… Romney (like McLame before him) lost the election by not differentiating himself from the other liberal we had to (viably) choose from. We’re sick of this game being played by the GOP leadership. They keep giving us these candidates that they claim are the ‘electable’ ones and they keep losing.
And the definition of insanity is…what again?

He was caught saying things that alienated him from the American people and it was exposed. It wasn’t paraphrased or edited. They were his words. Then he kept changing his tune during speaking engagements. The media didn’t make him do that. Stay on point and give examples of how the media wronged him. I don’t see it.

Posted on March 3, 2013 at 7:04pmGladly, Wow. The media hyper focusing on Romney’s 47% remark while ignoring Obama’s “bitter clinger” remark. The media ignoring Benghazi while focusing on whether Romney “jumped the gun” in speaking out about it. Various comments pressing the opinion that Obama looked Presidential during the Super storm Sandy incident as fact. Ignoring the “Transmit to Vladimir” hot mic moment, and the creepy implications of a president basically saying that he needs to pretend to be one thing for an election then he can change his stance. The media focusing on any gaff made by Romney or Ryan while utterly ignoring the long list of gaffs from Obama and especially Bidden. Candy Crawly (however that’s spelled) interdiction on Obama’s behalf during the debate then later admitting that Romney was right and that she just didn’t like the way Romney phrased it. Those are the instances of media bias that come to my mind instantly. Then there is the “tone projections” that a lot of Conservatives felt the media had, though that stuff is pretty tough to prove so I’ll leave that up for individuals to decide for themselves.

I have. I really liked the health care plan he put into place in Massachusetts. Actually Romney did some good stuff as Governor beside that. But he had to recant both his healthcare measure – which is probably the best thing he ever did for the common man, and far more I my add than I ever will – and pretend he was Tea Party member in order to win the nomination.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 3:15amElection 2012 is the result of what happens when the “chosen people” takeover and control the media. The public gets bombarded with leftist propaganda and sways the public to vote Democratic. Chosen people knew way back 100 years ago that they could takeover this country if they took over the media and this last election is proof. We don’t even have a free press anymore. We have a “chosen people” corporate owned and ran propaganda source calling itself the media. And this whole whole talk that we have to worship Judens because they are “chosen people” is something new. They put that idea out there and people bought into it.

Maybe the blame is the unions, police, or the local politicians. Or maybe the fact that no one cares to change it. Thieves, corruption, murders, need to be fixed and repaired. But the community needs to take action, and reclaim their town, state, and their own personal worth. Only then will it change. Change is the word.

Romney could have overcome the media bias had he wanted to… He really isn’t use to working hard. He has a good mind (Not a great mind). As a CEO he is use to setting policy then going home… That doesn’t work in politics….
The hard questions need to be asked! Obama stated in the debates that Sequester wouldn’t happen, well actually Sequester is a good thing… We need to do it more…. Lets take TSA for instance. In every instance after 9/11, the passengers have subdued the attempts. There won’t be anymore high jacking of airliners because the passengers will fight back before they get into the cockpit… Our personal liberties are being violated for really no reason… How much are we spending on the TSA??? It needs to be dismantled and the Airlines should be responsible and the people who fly. We can not afford all the government spending… Otherwise We Are F-cked (WAF)…

As a result of their bigotry we are stuck with Obamacare, higher taxes/spending and the old liberals on the SCOTUS will be replaced by very young hyper-partisan liberals. Posted on March 3, 2013 at 2:40pmThe real truth here is history will judge the media for what they did and didn’t do. In a country where the “Free Press” is supposed to be the watch dog and speak the truth, they became an arm of the campaign for Obama. The FACT that he will be viewed as the most incompetent and misserable and damaging President in history will be contributed to the Mass Media assistance to do so. Each of those individual “reporters” and their obviously insane and misleading statements will be welded to their names for years to come and when we think of the horror and pain of the early 2000′s, we will think of who we had to blame. Obama’s “TEAM” could have never pulled the wool over the “low information voter” without ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, and CNN – and the more years that go by the more obvious that will be. This isn’t about Romney needing to be meaner and tougher, this is about Americans needing to be smarter and more honest – including our press which failed us miserably. Shame on them. Shame on all of us for allowing them to have such dishonesty and to have left journalism so far. There is a wakeup going on. Now that Obama has attacked such an ICON of journalism as Woodward, reporters are opening their eyes. They may like Obama – but Woodward is a journalist’s Hero, a artist of their craft, and a image they desire to attain. The house of cards will fall, but the damage has been done for all history to judge.

Not to mention just plainly doing their jobs and not picking apart the their unfavorite candidate. The problem with Ann and Mitt is that they wanted to fix America, not destroy it. The press wants the new world order of peace and love. That’s why the reporter for CBS was raped, reporters are shot and killed. They forgot to tell the rest of the world about their plans. The press or media will never hold a candle to the Romneys. Integrity isn’t one of the ethics the new media follows, neither is telling the truth. Tell me ********…….Why do we have a bigger bloated Government more than ever…More than ever and a Government close to Red China……Yet we have more drugs in the local bars and Night Clubs so that the corrupt Government can control the “Smart College Kids.”….I would love a ******* to explain that one……240 thousand plus Home Land Security and yet we still have a massive drug problem.
Its because Obama wants nothing more than to own the Plane, The helicopter, and the Big House.
He does not want to be President, he wants to be Dictator like Kim Jong Une…….People like Sean Hanity speak a lot of truth when you listen.
Dont like guns then dont Buy one……..

Posted on March 3, 2013 at 1:21pmAnd….Jimmy Carter is so PROUD of his grandson for surreptitiously taping Mitt Romney at a fundraiser. Here is the truth. Mitt was right. 47 percent of Americans were unreachable. That is a fact. They were not interested in anything but sucking off the Obama Government TIT. They still are. @Jimmy Carter. You suck! So does your grandson! Nothing to be proud of. You sucked in the 70s too. I was there. You still suck!

Posted on March 3, 2013 at 1:48pmIt’s not what Romney said that cost him the election. It’s not even that it’s true. It’s that he said it behind closed doors, where he thought no one else but his rich potential donors would hear. That was what made it game, set and match.

Posted on March 3, 2013 at 6:44pmObama made his “bitter clinger” remark thinking he was behind proverbial closed doors. He was only caught because of a hot mic he didn’t think was on. It’s the same damn thing pretty much, only the media hyper focused on Romney’s while ignoring Obama’s.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 9:04amFarmhand: I recall plenty of MSM coverage of Obama’s remark from 2008. I think on both sides people tend to feel slighted by the “other” media camp.
That said, I do see a difference between what Obama said and what Romney said. Obama was relating how his foot soldiers in Pennsylvania were being encouraged to engage with people who opposed him on religious or cultural grounds. Romney was simply airily dismissing half the electorate as not worth bothering about. Big difference.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 1:09pmLLOYD… that’s a disingenuous observation- and you know it.
Romney was saying that he expected 47% to vote for Obama because they have no “skin in the game”.
He was trying to motivate his wealthy, aloof, “peeps” to help him get the other 53% to the polls in his favor by encouraging outrage.
Bad sentence.
Bad strategy.
Bad candidate.
Accurate sentiment.

Bad sentence, bad strategy, bad candidate, sentiment unworthy of someone who wanted to be president. I hope Romney is enjoying his retirement as much as I am enjoying his retirement–from politics, anyway.

Posted on March 3, 2013 at 1:21pmThe state-run media has become far too powerful. These proggies own the schools, movies, television, print, “news”, games, etc. I seriously doubt, short of God’s miracle or some other Earth shattering event, I will see another Republican president in my lifetime.
I hate saying it, but Hillary will be president 2017-2025. Who comes after her, I do not know. But it won’t be good.
I used to get mad at people that said America was dead. After watching millions of my countrymen stay home on election day 2012, I no longer do. If she isn’t dead already, she is definitely dying.

Posted on March 3, 2013 at 2:57pmIt’s sad to say, I think you are right, we will never see a republician president again in the white house. The only hope we have is the republicians keep control of the house after the 2014 midterm election. I’m planning for the worst, I think socialism in America is just around the corner.
Everyone needs to think, what will happen to me and my family if America becomes a socialist country? There is a good chance it could happen. Its time to face reality, socialism is taking place before our very eyes, I don’t think we can stop it.

Posted on March 3, 2013 at 2:20pmRepublicans tried everything from keeping polling stations in conservative-leaning precincts open longer than ones in liberal-leaning precincts (Ohio), to passing voter ID laws which they knew would unfairly impact minorities (Pennsylvania and other states), and purging the voter rolls of legitimate voters (Florida), and now they’re trying to change the apportionment of electoral votes in a way that would have meant that Romney, having lost the popular vote by 5 million votes, would have won the election, but yeah, it’s the Democrats who are the cheats.

Posted on March 3, 2013 at 1:19pmWhy are the Romneys doing this “Walk of Shame” tour?
They should take a page from Mondale, Dukakis, and Bush Sr.’s books… and go away quietly… or go back to serving the people (albeit crappily) like McCain.
If they stay in the spotlight and do nothing they will become jokes like Al Gore and Sarah Palin… if they haven’t already.

I agree with you that Palin is a Patriot. I think she’s a lovely woman, a good Mom, a decent Governor, and- as Hannity is fond of saying- “a great American”.
She is a joke, however.
Not being able to name Newspapers she reads, agreeing to “perform” on a reality show, appearing on SNL to validate their charicature of her… all of these things have made her a joke.
Not my choice for her…. it was HER’S.
She is now a joke.

Posted on March 5, 2013 at 4:22pmWould have been interesting if Ann or Mitt pointed out how the same liberal media harpooned the the campaigns of Bachman, Perry, Santorum, Gingrich. The same one that led the RNC to allow way too many debates so all the dirt would come against the any Obamacare challengers.
The Romney vs Obama matchup was ordained from the beginning of the season.
RomneyCare Vs ObamaCare was the target October November matchup since the other conservative candidates after getting the nomination would hammer the negatives of Obamacare day and night.
As they expected, that drumroll against Obamacare did not happen after Romney got nominated.
