Anti-Gun Rally in Oregon Draws a Crowd… of 20 People (Which Includes Members of the Media)

Anti Gun Rally in Oregon Draws a Crowd of 20 People, Including the Media

An anti-gun rally in Eugene, Ore., drew a crowd on Saturday afternoon — just a really small one. The Washington Times reports that 20 people, including the media, attended the rally supporting a ban on so-called “assault weapons.” It wasn’t clear how many members of the media were covering the event.

Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy also showed up at the rally held at the Eugene Wayne Morris Free Speech Plaza. The event was hosted by Ceasefire Oregon, an anti-gun lobbying group.

Ceasefire Oregon spokesman Baldr Odinson argued semi-automatic rifles and high-capacity magazines have “no place in the civilian sector” and urged lawmakers to ban them. The anti-gun group also holds year-round gun buyback programs.

The crowd was lacking in enthusiasm and excitement, an atmosphere that was “bordering on complacency,” the Examiner reports. The site writes that the poor turnout “mirrors the sentiment of the majority as to pending heightened state and federal gun control.”

Lawmakers in Oregon recently proposed legislation that would make it illegal to possess or transfer an so-called “assault weapon” or large capacity magazine. Violating the law would be punishable by up to 10 years of imprisonment, $250,000 fine, or both.

Last week, the National Rifle Association held a massive pro-gun rally in Albany, N.Y., where thousands of people protested the state’s strict gun laws at the State Capitol.

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

      PART 2

‘Property is surely a right of mankind as really as liberty. Perhaps, at first, prejudice, habit, shame or fear, principle or religion, would restrain the poor from attacking the rich, and the idle from usurping on the industrious. But the time would not be long before the courage and enterprise would come, and pretext be invented by degrees, to countenance the majority in dividing all the property among them, or at least sharing it equally with it’s present possessors. Debts would be abolished first, taxes laid heavy on the rich, and not at all on the others, and at last a downright equal division of everything be demanded and voted. What would be the consequence of this? [asked John Adams]‘

‘The idol, the vicious, the intemperate, would rush into the utmost extravagance of debauchery, sell and spend all their share and then demand a new division of those who purchased from them. The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not a sacred as the Laws of God, and that there is not a force of law at public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If “thou shalt not covet” and “thou shalt not steal” were no commandments of Heaven, they must be made invaluable precepts in every society before it can be civilized or made free.’

When Holder sells guns to Mexican drug cartels to foment violence along the border with Texas, he ain’t no minion. The man is dangerous and must be stopped (at a red light, of course).

And, when his boss has so intimidated the military that not one swinging deck launches a rescue for those four men, he’s no minion, he has to be hung (in effigy, of course).

Whatever. Actually, most Americans support gun control, by a large margin. Do you guys actually get your news here?

“A strong majority of gun owners and non gun owners support stronger restrictions on firearms, according to a national survey conducted by Johns Hopkins University.

A sizable 89 percent of all respondents, and 75 percent of those identified as NRA members, support universal background checks for gun sales. Similar surveys by Pew Research Center and Gallup have also found background checks to be by far the most popular gun control proposal in the aftermath the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.”

      http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2013/01/28/strong-majority-of-americans-nra-members-back-gun-control

The idea that Americans don’t support gun control is false. Very false, despite this silly thread. 75% of NRA members support universal background checks if you ask them, as these polls do. One thing is for sure, the NRA leadership does not represent the views of their members. They support the views of gun manufacturers. And, indirectly, they support the views of terrorists and wanna-be mass murders. When those commit to the murder of Americans on a large scale, they want their high capacity guns without jumping through a lot of hoops. Thanks NRA.

      @Sendinthemediocre

Once again, you put your ratiocination on display.

“The event was hosted by Ceasefire Oregon, an anti-gun lobbying group.”

ANTI-GUN is NOT GUN CONTROL !!!!

In addition, any type of “Control” is an Infringement !!!

75% of these “representatives” in D.C. are Lawyers.

A Lawyer knows the difference between ‘May’ and ‘Shall’, is of the same contrast as black and white.

Had the Bill of Rights promulgated that the right of the people “may not be infringed”,
      gun “control” would be constitutional.

The Framers used the word ‘SHALL’. That means it is not up for debate or interpretation.

I had to get a background check to get my firearm.

As long as we are under the tyranny of the state to conform, I would prefer that thugs and criminals not have access to guns at gun shows, without background checks.
That is the only thing I agree to, as far as regulations go.

Small chunk of space dust. Hundreds of thousands of background checks and a handful of prosecutions for attempting to purchase a firearm illegally. Why do you now think this will work? If a criminal has a record they will purchase through a legal friend or family member OR STEAL it. Fast and furious proves that the doj does not take this seriously. ASSCLOWN. The answer is mandatory minimum sentences for gun crimes that liberal judges cannot deviate from. Jay himself stated that he and ASSCLOWN believe that most gun owners are “responsible” so why not prosecute the criminal felons????

First. While doing research, and I do a lot of it, I found a quote from John Adams in John Adams’ own book. John Adams’ ‘Defense Of The Constitutions Of Governments Of The United Staes’, chapter 16, docúment 15, 1787.”

“John Adams, of Massachusetts, he wrote:
‘Suppose a nation, rich and poor, high and low, 10 millions in number, all assemble together, not more than 1 or 2 millions will have lands, houses, or any personal property. If we take into account the women and children, and even if we leave them out of the question, a great majority of every nation is wholly destitute of property except a small quantity of clothes and a few trifles or other moveables. Would Mr. Needem [with whom he was dealing with] be responsible that if all would be decided by a vote of the majority, the 8 or 9 millions who have no property would not think of usurping over the rights of the 1 or 2 millions who have?’
