Conservative Actor: Teacher Threatened Police Action & Questioned My Son’s ‘Mental State’ Over Photo of a BB Gun at School

(Photo: Joseph C Phillips)
Actor, entrepreneur, and writer Joseph C. Phillips, best known for his roles as Martin Kendall on “The Cosby Show” and Justus Ward on “General Hospital,” says his son’s school threatened police action after the student showed his friends a picture of his new BB gun. They also reportedly questioned his “mental state.”
Phillips explained for radio host Tony Katz on Saturday that California social studies teacher James DeLarme was walking by when he saw Phillips’ son and his friends looking at the picture. The 15-year-old has been working part time and chose to buy the Airsoft BB gun with his earnings, his dad said, and wanted to show his new purchase to his friends.
The teacher “snatched” the camera out of his hands, and when the teen asked when he would get it back, the teacher reportedly responded: “That’s for the police to decide.”
“It’s just a picture, Tony!” Phillips told the radio host. “There were no threats involved; there was no horseplay, monkey business happening at the time. It was my son’s camera; he shows it to his friends, who are all very interested and excited about it as well. The teacher happens by, snatches the camera, and that’s when the real nonsense began…”
The teacher then allegedly took the camera to another teacher, who said she was “disturbed” by the image. After scrolling through the entire memory and returning the camera, the teachers began to question the “mental state” of Phillips’ son, he said.
“Do you have any animosity towards any of your classmates?” the student was reportedly asked. “Are you happy?”
“Now, this guy…listen, at this point, I’m not sure he’s qualified to teach social studies,” Phillips interjected. “He certainly isn’t qualified to psychoanalyze my kid.”
What’s worse — Phillips says he didn’t find out about the incident until roughly five days later, when his son told him.
When he sent a letter of complaint to the school’s principal, a vice principal allegedly responded in defense of the teachers, saying they did the right thing for the safety of the other students.
Perhaps most alarming, Phillips added, is that “not one person” at the school thought to inform the parents of the altercation.
“If Mr. DeLarme truly believed my son presented a danger, both my wife and I should have been notified immediately!” Phillips pointed out.
Phillips concluded with a word on how “ridiculousness is passing for common sense” in today’s schools, adding that it seems like anyone who has a gun is guilty by default.
“Somebody’s got to have some sense,” he reiterated.
Here’s audio of the entire interview:

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 3:44pmWe conservatives, or regular Americans for that matter, will soon be inundated and overwhelmed with all the regulations, PC-ness and liberal bigotry unless we do something NOW. Can no one see we’re at the tipping point, where thought crimes are the next stage of progressive control?
We need to out-ACLU these bigots. We need a huge cadre of conservative legal organizations who will sue the living Alinsky out of these *&)! bigoted know-it alls before they bury us. Every time one of these outrages pops up a lawyer should be on them like a duck on a June bug and sue them into meek submissiveness. Why not? It’s worked for decades for the ACLU.
They are indoctrinating our children into socialism, and it won’t be too long until all those adults who protest will be sent to some kind of re-education camp like the ones run by that racist bigot Betances ran for Obama’s USDA.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 4:00pmTrue, we’d have to do it without taxpayer funding. But Liberty University, for example, has a conservative law school, and I understand they put people into just such a pipeline to defend the Constitution and conservative values. And every like-minded lawyer can take on these smug jerks on a pro bono basis.
As with all progressives, they just plain out-organize us. It’s that simple. That’s how they’ve gotten this far.

Here is the letter I posted to this idiot teacher:
A big part of teaching Social Studies includes the teaching of history using facts. Ideology is far more inappropriate and dangerous than innocent images of guns will ever be in terms of teaching and providing a learning environment free from the type of harassment and intimidation, which you employed recently while bullying a student over a simple image. If you knew anything about guns and history, you would know that wherever guns have been effectively eliminated from society it has led inexorably to the wholesale slaughter of innocents. From Cuba to Russia to China to North Korea and on-and-on, despots and tyrants always start out pushing their ideology of “gun-elimination”; the very same sick ideology that causes a teacher to threaten and intimidate a student into thinking that the mere picture of his toy “BB” gun is somehow evil and must be crushed by those who think they know better – what is good for him. Your behavior in this case is nothing short of appalling and if I were the administrator in charge of your status on my campus, you would be walking down the road talking to yourself faster than you could say “BB Gun”.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 6:29pmIn 1968 I was in sixth grade and we were studying the revolutionary war at the time. We lived in central NY at the time and there were a lot of revolutionary battlefields in the area. We even took a trip to the Oriskany Battlefield to see where the Revolutionary war turned in favor of the colonists.
http://www.nysparks.com/historic-sites/21/details.aspx
My father had an old flintlock musket that I used to draw a representation of for an oral report that I did in the class. I told the class and showed them the drawing of how the flintlock was loaded and fired. How it was carried and the caliber. Everyone seemed interested and I really enjoyed doing that presentation because as a 12 year old, I was interested in firearms. But imagine now if a student wanted to do an oral report on the firearms used in the Revolutionary war. I’m sure the student would be hauled away in handcuffs and leg irons. Perhaps in similar fashion as the prisoners during the Revolution.
It seems odd to me now that I remember this as such a positive time in my life. I really enjoyed learning about the Revolution and the French and Indian Wars because of their local history near where we lived. If I were in sixth grade now these would be negative experiences, not only that but I would be labeled for life as an extremist. How sad. When the current crop of students are my age, now in my fifties, what will their memories be of their sixth grade class? We are in deep trouble.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 6:49pmThis is happening everywhere in the commie pig school system. It is a method of mass indoctrination. Commie pig Holder laid out the groundwork when he said that it is almost impossible to reach our generation. So, he is going after the young. (And I’ll be there is a directive to school administrators and teacher union thugs about this.)
Make any and every reference to firearms a screeching, emotional hissy fit. Ridicule and isolate the person who dares even whisper about a firearm. Over react as much as you can to scare, intimidate and humiliate the “perp” so that no future transgressions will every occur.
And all the kiddies around will be so thoroughly “sensitized,” that we can do away with the 2nd once and for all, and these sheep who have been brain washed, will give them up freely.
How to fight this??
Commie pig tactics will work wonders here.
Organize a “cops and robbers” flash mob. Every one shows up with their fingers pointing at one another and shout bang, bang.
If even 20 kids pulled this off, it would OVERWHELM THE SYSTEM. After a few weeks of L shaped paper arrests, and 50 or more kids hauled off, the insanity would be laid bare and the ridicule could begin.
Just a thought.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 6:50pmSome strategic advice.
I have many articles on the internet about how a school teacher or administrator has hassled a student over key political issues. You children will be made pawns in this culture war, the classroom is the battlefield.
Now start acting like you as the parent are part of the fight.
What does this mean?
Take no prisoners, settle for only unconditional surrender. Make sure someone Pays! Not money but jobs and careers of both teachers, principles and administrators.
School: We would like to settle out of court.
Parents: Okay, they are fired with a bad official review, all of this is annotated in the school board files for 10 years.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 9:07pmIt seems many adults within our society have lost touch with reality (a condition enhanced by a manipulating media) and are attempting to project their irrational fears onto our children. Only a pathetic coward would forcefully destroy a child’s innocence in an attempt at making themselves feel better. Again only a PATHETIC disgusting poor excuse of a teach would do this. We live in a society that is, ironically, too immature to handle adult issues in the realm of adults and instead are robbing our children of their greatest gift and it’s a gift that once gone can never be returned, but is lost forever.

She wanted to go by the offices of the ACLU just for s**ts and giggles…He told me that, they noticed that on the walls the Bill of Rights were displayed, each amendment, separately…except one…can you guess which one was omitted?
Holder said it himself, they want or children to FEAR guns, The word he used was “brainwash.” He said it might take a generation or two but we needed to get them past this relative comfort with guns. It is even happening in rural schools. As more teachers are brought in from the bigger cities. We see it in the rural areas of the NW where kids come home and ask tell their parents they don’t want to go hunting this year, because their teacher said one thing or another about it. The agenda is more than obvious.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 4:59pmYears ago, when I was working at our former church, one of the kids went into my tote bag and found my NRA Pistol Shooting Manual, which I had tossed in there a week or so previously and forgotten about. When the mother came to pick up the child, the child announced, “Mommy, there’s a gun in that bag!” The rest of us were stunned, particularly me, since I didn’t own a firearm. I put the bag on the desk and proceeded to unpack it item by item, then turned the bag inside out. I also emptied my coat pockets and my pants pockets. The mother was clearly embarrassed and her method of dealing with this was to say, “I’ll be speaking to your boss tomorrow first thing.” I shrugged, repacked the bag in front of everyone, and then had one of the staff lock the the bag in the storage closet in front of everyone else. The next morning, I didn’t even make it across the parking lot when one of the other staff members came flying out the building to tell me my boss wanted to me in her office “right away”. When I went in, she had me close the door and then asked, “So, are you thinking of getting a revolver or a semi-automatic?”

I know Glenn’s got a lot on his plate, but seems to me it’s time for him to assemble a school curriculum team that would create an online academy which would teach subjects the right way, particularly history. Barring that, conservative churches should consider extended Sunday school for teaching things the kids aren’t getting in the public indoctrination camps. They’ll still need materials too and maybe this team can create something for them. While they’re at it they may want to have a short course on dealing with belligerent teachers for both children and parents.

What you fail to consider is schools get money for each child per each day they are in school. The real reason they come down on truancy. The greater the number of home schooled kids the lower the amount of money they get. With enough being pulled out a tipping point will be reached property taxes or not. You receive the added bonus of raising your kids properly with no brainwashing which is scarring them for life. Posted on March 4, 2013 at 3:20pman “airsoft bb gun” is a toy. ive seen them in toy departments. they shoot PLASTIC bb’s and even the higher end expensive ones will do no more than leave a nasty whelp. and not even that if youre wearing thick or baggy clothing. their freshly sharpened #2 pencils are a more lethal/dangerous object in my opinion.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 3:27pmto add a little more. everyone should note that toy doesnt shoot metal bb’s or pellets, airsoft fires PLASTIC bb’s. and i believe (i could be mistaken) that there are competitions like paintball, where they shoot these things at each other. this was all over a TOY.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 3:30pmNO. 2 pencil is only dangerous if it’s shaped like a gun. That’s the thought process. Now if you can shape a gun not to look like a gun, then youve got something.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 3:39pmThis would drive them crazy. When we were teens in the 60′s, we would take 12 gauge shells and cut them off leaving only the wading that was behind the shot now removed, then we would put on heavy clothes and shoot at each other. We did the same thing with BB guns. We were crazy, but we all lived through it. I am sorry though that I sold all my guns years ago. I had some nice 22 Mossbergs with the field sights, and some nice shotguns. When we were younger, my dad had a Remington 22 pump always loaded and in a his bedroom corner. We knew if we ever touched that there would be hell to pay, and we didn’t. These people are more crazy than we were making a stink about this.

We had BB guns that you would pump up, the more you pumped, the more penetration of the BB. We also would stand very still against an old outbuilding and throw knives all around each other. Luckily, we got very good at it. We used to drive our mother nuts. God bless her in heaven.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 5:59pm@ FANG: Yes and it was just a couple years ago that we had a group of 10 to 15 young boys at any given time that would play war games with these behind our house in the open field. When I was unhappy because they would not respect my property line and did not know any of their parents, I contacted the town manager to see if they could help in any way. I was given a surprise visit by our town sheriff whom stated there was nothing they could or would do about it. I could have cared less that they were playing, I just wanted them to respect my property.
Look how far we have come in just a few months, schools and police have turned an innocent image, hand jester or sculpted image into a federal offense!

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 3:19pmWe are going to have to stand up to such overreactions, and treat the overreaction in the same way they want to treat any mention of firearms… or in this case air guns.
for this to be appropriate on the techer’s benefit, a student whose family member was killed by a drunk driver could ‘react’ and keep a photo or a car or a liquor bottle from being part of an assignment.
This has moved beyond rational into undreamed of worlds, and the longer Leftists are allowed to pretend that their emotions trump logic and fact, the harder it is going to be to rein them in and protect our children from an educational system that wants reactive uninformed sheeple, rather than thinking capable responsible human beings.

I’m tending to agree with Glenn, that we need to get the kids out of the education establishment which totally indoctrinates.
My G-son was a norma active kid until the kindergarten teacher insist he be put on med for ADHD. Later teachers harrassed him no end for skipping steps on stairs, etc. A Counselor told him to draw pictures to take out destructive feelings, and he was expelled for drawing a picture of his teacher and what he thought of his attitude. Best thing ever happened, he’s now home schooled. The kid now has a chance but there are years of aggravation from the establishment and the effects of the meds have caused big attitude problems we must now deal with.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 3:44pmmil… I have had similar situation my youngest was put into behavior class because he didn’t handle frustration well, he hit himself. He was put into a classroom of kids who hit the teachers, threw things, cussed up a storm, (even kindergarten age). The teacher never listened to me and wanted me to medicate him. We asked for video so we could see what was upsetting him and they didn’t do it. They showed us his “tantrum” not why. We are mow homeschooling and funny my son isn’t hitting himself. The schools are not doing well these days if a kid isn’t a quiet mellow kid. Too much personality and they are troublemakers.

Even when you try to explain what is happening to the teens in HS they just look at you with eyes glazed over and have no idea what your talking about. They are in a go along to get along mode of epic proportions and have no idea how much the school has beat into their minds to be subserviate to their every request. No wonder kids are molested in school so much these days. They think the educators are gods.

In another generation, guns will be looked upon as something very bad, even playing with toy guns will be outlawed…There goes the 2nd amendment…when will enough be enough, when will common sense come back to America???

“The teacher should be charged with theft, illegal seizure, and invasion of privacy.”
YES.
Also the teacher should be charged with practicing psychiatry without a license.
The young man was not threatening anyone. He was not conspiring with his friend. He was just showing off his new purchase.
No reasonable person could construe it as anything else. Therefore there was no probable cause. therefore no reason for a seizure or a search. But liberals cannot be considered reasonable.

Posted on March 4, 2013 at 3:08pmAttention NRA Voting Members!
Nominate Glenn Beck to the 2013 NRA Board of Directors!
“With president “That Guy” using his vast executive power to abuse our freedom, we are facing an unprecedented assault on the Second Amendment and every other right enshrined in our Constitution. To withstand these attacks and hold the line to protect our rights, your vote is vital in the election of a strong, united, and effective NRA Board of Directors. To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln, remember what your vote means: It assures that the NRA remains an Association of the members, for the members and by the members.” ~ Wayne LaPierre
If you haven’t done so already, please fill out your “2013 NRA Ballot Package” and nominate Glenn Beck, as a write-in candidate, to the NRA Board of Directors by adding his name to the back of the ballot.
“In Addition to preserving the Second Amendment, the 2013 candidates will help build and expand NRA’s full mission: from molding public opinion, to promoting and governing shooting sports, to youth programs, to safety training, to preserving hunting rights, and to making sure Americans will always have a place to shoot.” ~ Wayne LaPierre
Again, if you are a Lifetime or 5-year member of the NRA, please nominate Glenn Beck to the 2013 NRA Board of Directors!
Ballots must be received no later than April 14, 2013.

Glenn Beck has proven he is not a staunch supporter of the 2nd amendment and doesnt know crap about guns or has likely never owned one or shot one. The Blaze is guilty of spreading as much bad information about “assault weapons” as MSNBC. Glenn Beck would only give the left ammo to discredit the NRA as an organization.

This is another tactic to make children terrified of guns and to marginalize liberty loving people. Wake up people, as this will continue to get worse and worse. The Fabian Socialists are so close to their goal, they are going to give it all they’ve got. They will not back down at this point.
