Finnish Company Sparks Outrage By Printing Jesus’ Words, Bible Verses on Toilet Paper — Then Reverses Course

Toilet paper has an obvious intended use, which is why some Europeans were outraged when a Finnish hygiene company placed Bible verses on its bathroom tissue. Following furor, Metsa Tissue decided to remove the controversial scriptures that religious critics found both disrespectful and distasteful.

The toilet paper, which was being sold in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, included verses from the book of Matthew and First Corinthians, Reuters reports. Among them was a quote from Jesus, reading, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21).

Metsa Tissue Ignites Furor Over Bible Verses, Jesus Words on Toilet Paper Then Removes

The specific scriptures weren’t intended to offend, the company claims. Metsa Tissue’s leaders say they were simply looking to spread love, so they turned to the Bible for inspiration. But they ended up with a public relations debacle, instead.

“People like to read small, happy messages while sitting on the toilet,” Christina von Trampe, a spokeswoman for Metsa Tissue, told Reuters. ”The vast majority of the feedback has been positive. Our intention was to spread love and joy, not religious messages.”

However, much of the reaction from church communities was apparently colored by frustration and disdain. Consider Laila Riksaasen Dahl, the Bishop of Tunsberg, in Norway. She made her dislike for the Biblical references on the toilet paper more than known.

“This is bad taste and show lack of respect,” she said in an interview with Vaart Land. “Bible verses do not belong on a roll of toilet paper.”

This isn’t the first time the company has placed quotes and messages on its products. In fact, Metsa Tissue is know for doing just that and, despite the furor over the Bible verses, it doesn’t plan to stop spreading the love.

While it’s likely customers won’t be seeing Jesus’ comments on tissue again in the near future, poetry and other messages will continue to be printed.

This is very offensive, the words contained in the Bible are words of life, those words are a treasure beyond compare. Many have given thier life because of thier belief in the Bible. A true child of the almighty should not only be offended but should be outraged. It saddens me how far this world has turned away from its creator.

    EVEN BETTER IDEA:
Forget the biblical tt paper, if you Fins are trying to aggravate someone – you are after the wrong group. IF you want to get a group hacked off go out and simply burn a Koran, OR, better yet, simply use it for “TT” paper.

Jesus, just leave the remarks on the toilet paper. It’s not a big deal and free expression is far more important than the bible or god. I chose not to live in the evil of a theocracy, so poking fun or outright insulting god, jesus, the bible or whatever supernatural nonsense you believe in is perfectly ok.

Why must people like Vaman fib about what they hate? They hate God, not religion. If they hated religion, then we’d hear them railing against Buddah, Hindus, Muslims, Taoists, new agers, etc. But no, all those get a pass. Jesus? Ah ha, now there is where there true hatred lies. Why only in him?

Most people can project current trends into the future. So you think Islam is not a problem here in the U.S.? You have not been reading the news. Even bands of chimpanzees count before they tangle with another band of chimpanzees and go to war. You do not seem able to count.
Most people can project current trends into the future. You do not seem to project current trends into the future. One can look at what is happening in Europe or Dearborn to see what s coming. Plus people know about demographics. People are using demographics projections to scare or cajole people all the time. The graphic de jure is when white people will be less than 50%. There was another MSM story yesterday. The new projection was 2043. Then there are the ones on Islam, etc.

Plus people have seen groups say they want x & they will be satisfied only to see the group come back to the well again & again until there is not parity but roles have been reversed.

Face it, too many on the left want to get rid of all Judeo-Christian underpinnings of the law & replace it with the professions of faith or musings of Erasmus. It doesn’t matter to them that as far back as Alfred the Great 1,400 years ago that the king & his council said the Bible was the basis for law.

I can’t wait until the Finnish company starts printing verses from the Koran on toilet paper and then the fatwa or death sentence comes down on them. Not! This whole story gives new meaning to: thou shalt not treat my outhouse like a den of thieves but a house of prayer while on the crapper!

What we need is a “get your news while you go”. Choose the news clips you want delivered to the printing device, and catch up on the news unfit to print by the MSM, and then use it for what it is intended. Optionally include a picture of the POSOTUS with his tongue extended on the article.

@ WILLINGTOUPE : Once All of Vietnam fell to the Communists, an imprisoned South Vietnamese man would volunteer for Outhouse Clean-up every day. The prison camp warden was using a Bible for toilet paper and the prisoner would keep the soiled pages; after a thorough cleaning, he would add each page to his growing collection of God’s Holy Word. Reverence to God’s Holy word and acceptance of Jesus into your life could bring the precious gift of eternal life with our Heavenly Father. Desecration of God’s Holy word will bring eternal seperation from the presence of God, in hell. God gave us free will – use that gift wisely. As Joseph Stalin breathed his last breath, he looked skyward, shaking his fist in defiance of our Holy God as he descended into hell.
