Shock: 7 Saudis Set to Be Executed by Crucifixion and Firing Squad for Juvenile Jewelry Heist

Shock: 7 Saudis Set to Be Crucified Tomorrow for Stealing Jewelry as Juveniles

(TheBlaze/AP) — Speaking over a smuggled cellphone from his prison cell, one of seven Saudis set to be put to death Tuesday by crucifixion and firing squad for armed robbery appealed for help to stop the executions.

Nasser al-Qahtani told The Associated Press from Abha General prison Monday that he was arrested as part of 23-member ring that stole from jewelry stores in 2004 and 2005. He said they were tortured to confess and had no access to lawyers.

“I killed no one. I didn’t have weapons while robbing the store, but the police tortured me, beat me up and threatened to assault my mother to extract confessions that I had a weapon with me while I was only 15,” he said. “We don’t deserve death.”

A leading human rights group added its appeal to Saudi authorities to stop the executions.

Al-Qahtani, now 24, said he and the most of the ring were juveniles at the time of the thefts. They were arrested in 2006. The seven received death sentences in 2009, the Saudi newspaper Okaz reported then.

Last Saturday, he said, Saudi King Abdullah ratified the death sentences and sent them to Abha. Authorities set Tuesday for the executions. They also determined the methods.

The main defendant, Sarhan al-Mashayeh, is to be crucified for three days. The others are to face firing squads.

Al-Qahtani faced a judge three times during eight years in detention. He said that the judge didn’t assign a lawyer to defend them and didn’t listen to complains of torture.

“We showed him the marks of torture and beating, but he didn’t listen,” he said. “I am talking to you now and my relatives are telling me that the soil is prepared for our executions tomorrow,” he said, referring to the place where he will be standing to be fired at.

Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islamic Shariah law under which people convicted of murder, rape or armed robbery can be executed, usually by sword.

Several people were reported crucified in Saudi Arabia last year. Human rights groups have condemned crucifixions in the past, including cases in which people are beheaded and then crucified. In 2009, Amnesty International condemned such an execution as “the ultimate form of cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment.”

The punishment is so severe in part because, experts speculate, the offenders came from the country’s poorer south, which is generally looked down upon.

“If one person belonged to political heavyweight regions, the verdict wouldn’t have been harsh,” Political analyst Mohammed al-Qahtani said.

Ali Al-Ahmed, the head of the Washington-based Institute of Gulf Affairs, elaborated: “The south is very poor, and that is why rebellion comes from there…and this is why sentences are harsh, because Saudi authorities want to scare them.”

Eric Goldstein, deputy Middle East director at Human Rights Watch, concluded: “It will be outrageous if the Saudi authorities go ahead with these executions…It is high time for the Saudis to stop executing child offenders and start observing their obligations under international human rights law.”

Not only drill, let’s approve the Keystone Pipeline, shall we?

Buying Canadian oil would transport the stuff in a steel pipeline. Without the pipeline, the oil has to move south to Texas in rail tank cars. Any risk of a train derailing?

Let’s see, we can import from Saudi in tankers that must transit through the Straits of Hormuz and travel as close as you can get to Iran without actually pulling into port or buy from dictators who crucify folks. Gee, I don’t know….

In 2011, imports from Saudi Arabia went up by 20%. There can’t be any quid pro quo going on here for all those campaign contributions funneled through the MB front groups like CAIR, ISNA and NAIT, is there? Oops! Did I mention that those folks are all “unindicted co-conspirators” in the Holy Land Foundation trial? Does transport by water increase the risk of pollution? Take a guess.

Oh, one last thingee. The railroad that transports the oil until the Keystone Pipeline is built is none other than Burlington Northern. That RR is owned by Warren Buffet. Now, who could have guessed that? Another BFF of the Ayatollah Obama.

We just need to be more tolerant of their culture.. Right? Relativism teaches us these these people aren’t like us, and that a 3 day crucifixion by Saudis is like 3 weeks on a road crew pretty picking up trash here. I say this facetiously of course to highlight the absurdity of the kind of “tolerance” we’re expected to give in the name of relativism. We do however need to keep in modern mind that this is graphic example of how these are a peoples not at all like us. America needs to act with the values of her people. America should enact a complete and total trade embargo with Saudi Arabia, and China, until they acknowledge their human rights issues and take meaningful steps in a more humane direction. We need to make them more tolerant of our value system by hitting them in the wallet. When they refuse to comply, extend the trade embargo to every nation that trades with them. And don’t even tell me America needs Saudis oil; 3 Midwestern states have more oil than Saudi Arabia, and we can survive without eco-bulbs, rubberdogshit, and fingernail clippers from china.

Saudi Arabia propped America up thru the 1980s by helping us defeat the Soviet Union.

The Saudi Arabian is not propped up. It is a quid pro quo. This for that.

We give them money they give us oil
They give us money we give the weapons.

Would you rather they buy from Russia, China. France or Brasil?

Personally, I would rather we develop our own oil via fracking and also for us to transition to fusion.
      It would uncomplicate things.

But the Saudis would still be selling oil & still be buying some weapons.

I hate it when liberals & other people complain about the execution rate or the incarceration rate.

The execution & incarceration rates do not exist in a vacuum.

They should be always be compared to the crime rate. Also the types & severity of the crimes need to be noted.

The logic is mind boggling stupid. Progressives could literally argue that we should not prosecute or incarcerate someone because it would make our rate greater than say China’s rate or Saudi Arabia’s rate. So we are going to have to let your rapist go.

I am sure that out resident trolls could. We know who they are.

As much as some people bash Catholics, they have this concept that if you don;t carry out the sentence for a capital crime in a short period of time, the you should not carry it out, because that person is now different and has grown.

Some of grown more canny (they are unrepentant but will be harder to catch next time) but others have grown wiser & regret their actions. The latter is the one they mean.

I don’t know the name for the concept, so if you do please speak up. Also explain it better (I am sure your will).

I don’t have much sympathy for an armed robber of any age, but if they were going to carry out the sentence I think nearly a decade later is too late. It would not be just.

Soooo let me see… it’s a crime, punishable by death to rob a jewlery store, but it’s perfectly ok to beat your wives and daughters to death, marry and molest little girls, chop off the heads of anyone who disagrees with you religiously, and fly stolen airplanes into buildings filled with innocent people. These animals are freaking insane.

In ancient Israel, the Mosaic Law mandated the thief to repay what was stolen or to become the slave to the victim until his theft was fully re-paid with interest. That was pure justice.

What we have today is the victim remains the victim and the thief is coddled.

Well the left would not like it. Especially the servitude option.

But it would leave them alive and the time it would take to repay the debt would give them time to think.

I would not recommend it, but slaves in Rome at times ended up inheriting when their master died. My point here is if this were implemented and if the sentence was more than a few weeks, the victim & thief would come to know one another & it could turn into an apprenticeship. That is if there was trust and the owner didn’t figure he would be stolen from again and if the thief worked hard, I could see the thief learning a trade. At the very least if the thief worked hard & was honest from the point of conviction on, the owner should give him a good recommendation.

Oft times it takes a job to get a job.

Go take a look at murder rates around the world. Typically only high-IQ Whites and Northeast Asians have low violent crime rates. Low IQ brown countries tend to have much higher violent crime rates. One of the exceptions to that trend are Middle Eastern muslime countries. I loathe pisslam with every cell in my body. But their barbaric sharia law penalties for crime are indeed apparently effective. Who in their right mind would lead a life of crime if you knew you’d be freaking tortured, crucified and have your head cut off with a sword in public? I bet such harsh punishments would cause violent crime to plummet amongst brown “hispanics” and blacks in America. The Left has been trying to convince us to be soft-on-crime. But muslime societies have proven that (very) tough-on-crime policies do in fact work. Pisslam’s tough-on-crime policies are one of the few things from their religion that I support. I have no sympathy for criminals like this.

The Saudi’s don’t care about the world’s view of them or about international human rights. No nation will ever do anything about it until they become oil independent from the middle east. Funny how we keep going round and round and round. Let them kill themselves and be done with it. Until the people want real freedom they will never have it.
