Do You Know Where Prominent Lawmakers Fall on the Political Spectrum?

FreedomWorks founder Matt Kibbe joined Glenn Beck on Monday evening to delve deeper into the political spectrum and determine where prominent U.S. lawmakers fall in terms of classical liberalism, neoconservatism, socialism, anarcho-capitalism and other political niches.

In fact, when one actually dissects the political compass, there is far more than just left and right and various shades of gray can be found. Where does Paul Ryan, Dr. Ben Carson and other outspoken voices of our time land on the political compass? Watch below as Beck and Kibbe try to determine (sometimes, the choice is not as obvious as it would seem at first blush).

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Unfortunately I think they are completely wrong about Jeff Flake. I used to really think he really was someone I could support but his stance on the border, and some of the other issues really make me question where he really stands. Everytime I hear him talk the more it seems he has been assimilated into the party. When push comes to shove he will vote republican.

Jeff Flake, my former House Representative, appears to me to have become nothing but a lapdog for McCain after joining the Senate. A major disappointment so far, and I won’t be patient for much longer. If he doesn’t shape up and start leading like a conservative, then I surely won’t support him as “Arizona’s senior Senator” after McCain is sent to the glue factory in 2016..

Depends on the issue…I find it difficult to pin point people as this or that…over time a person can change but some of those on the board, have hardened hearts.

Either way, we all know it eventually comes to an end…Obama did a number on the nation…and for that I will never forgive or forget.

He makes Jimmy Bob Carter look like a Prince. I hear Carter is doing back flips…pulled out of the ditch and replaced by Obama.

Here’s a shocker, I was 100% / 100% Libertarian. I imagine there’s a host more questions, especially regarding foreign affairs and ABC agencies that could be added for accuracy though. Of course, that’s not even including that many die hard libertarians believe that immigration is a natural right.

the majority of americans are actually libertarian but they get tricked by the corrupt political system

lots of libertarians are nonvoters (easy to see why)…..libertarians who think they are democrats…..libertarians who think they are republicans

They say I’m a far left libertarian. In fact, I’m so far left and so libertarian that they couldn’t give an example of a real politician with comparable views. Draw an arrow from the center through the Dalai Lama and keep going til you’re just three squares from the leftmost edge – that’s me.

I’ve rejected the whole LINEAR Political Spectrum. My model, borrowed from L.Neil Smith, a Libertarian SciFi author, is a CONE with Anarchism–rule by NONE–at the Top and Various Flavors of Tyranny around the circle at the bottom. Fascism and Communism right next to each other, being Collectivist Statist Socialist Twins in Practice (see F. Hayek). Dictatorships like Sodem and North Korea, Absolute Monarchies. In some ways I make no distinctions between the Dictatorship of a Castro, Stalin or Mao, the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, and the Dictatorship of the One Vote Over 50%.

depends what the horizontal axis is…..Common sense tells you the axis should be “government control” and then the question is whether 0% is on the left or the right….As customary, 0% should be on the left and increasing to 100% on the right….That puts anarchy on the left end and totalitarian on the right end

The modern day interpretation of “left versus right” is erroneous, which should not surprise anyone around here

Last Friday Glenn Beck said he was reading something he wrote in an e-mail saying he thought that sending representatives to Washington wasn’t working and that he had no trust in politicians and only trusted the people.
This went past the familiar previous statement that a person sells his soul when elected. It was a denunciation of representative democracy.

All that previous talk about restoring the constitution is now out the window.

Mr. Beck’s John Bircher trained inner fascist emerges more and more each day.

      ROFL.
So Mark Twain is a “Bircher”? “Patriotism is supporting your country all the time and the government when it deserves it.”

To reject THIS Out of Control, Out of Touch, (and Arrogant as He ll about BOTH) Legislature and Administration is NOT to “denounce representative democracy”. Indeed, the last time we had a bunch of Ruling Class Aristos THIS Out of Touch, Out of Control and Arrogant we WENT to WAR with em and WHUPPED em. It was called The American Revolution (v1.0), and our Founders were clear that when ANY Government “becomes destructive to these ends” of Securing Our God Endowed Unalienable Individual Liberties, it is the RIGHT and the DUTY of “the people” (doesn’t say how many and the Founders were a 1/3 MINORITY) to THROW IT OFF, to ALTER or ABOLISH it and to Institute New Government.
So I guess you are arguing George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson were “Birchers”?

      Hi sweetie!

Erah, The Birchers proved to be right. He didn’t say we ought not send politicians to Washington; he said he doesn’t trust them, and current polls indicate that our Country as a whole, does not trust Washington – heck, the Founders taught us not to trust politicians, but to be forever watchful of them. Mr. Beck said Nothing against restoring order to Congress (you can’t restore the Constitution, you can only ‘correct’ those that swear to uphold it, and then break their oath.

      Now…what’s for dinner?

Sorta missed the part where Fascists and Commies are identical, MB?
By the way “denunciation” “denounce” is SUCH a CommieTerm.
      F. Hayek proved 70 YEARS ago that Fascism and Communism were different sides of the same debased coin. L.Neil Smith and other Libertarian authors did so in the 80s. Tom Wolfe, in the Millenial Issue of Time pointed out that Hitler and Stalin, far from being at Polar Opposites, like YOU imply, were actually Fraternal, if Fratricidal, Collectivist, Statist, Socialist Twins.
Birch was an ANTI-*** Imperialist and an ANTI-COMMUNIST, neither of those are “Fascist” in fact, quite the Opposite. The Militarist Imperialist Japs WERE Fascist as the 3rd Reich.
