Lauren Drain was a member of the infamous Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) — that is, until she was kicked out of the anti-gay religious cohort.
Drain, who now speaks out against the church, released a book today about her experience entitled, “Banished: Surviving My Years in the Westboro Baptist Church.” This morning, she appeared on Glenn Beck’s radio show to discuss the radical religious sect.
“I was constantly being inundated with this brainwashing mentality,” she told the popular host.
Drain detailed her pathway into the WBC, a membership that took form after her father worked on a documentary about the church. Inevitably, he became interested in leader Fred Phelps’ controversial theology and brought his family along with him.
She also explained her expulsion from the church after she was caught speaking with a boy on the Internet who was not a Westboro member. The experience of being cut off from her family was extremely difficult.
Perhaps most noteworthy was Drain’s ability to explain, from the perspective of someone who was once on the inside, how the church operates and the lens through which its members see the world.
“They attribute everything to if homosexuals are ruining the country and they attribute everything to that,” she said. “They therefore make a connection that if the homosexuals are to blame, acceptance of homosexuals is to blame. Therefore God is going to punish the country in exhibit A, B, and C.”

I don’t advertise the fact I have sex with a beautiful woman a few times a week and that I was fortunate enough for God to put someone who tolerates my manic ways and is awesome as well as gorgeous in my life.

Mar. 6, 2013 at 10:07amThere are many more ‘sinful’ practices mankind commits than just homosexuality that could be said to be “ruining our country”. Romans 1 details many of these; but in all of them the Word declares it all begins with an unthankful heart. The Westboro outfit is one of the most unloving hard hearted bunch of people who call themselves Christian to gain public notoriety in my lifetime. As with most sectarian groups they are great at pointing out the speck in another’s eye yet ignoring the beam in their own. Jesus said that I think. Love the sinner; hate the sin I think the saying goes. Christians would go farther along the path to becoming more Christ-like if they would do as He did, namely seek the lost and avoid the religious whose hearts are far far from God.

Mar. 6, 2013 at 8:32amThe WBC is sad and sick! Its members give Christianity a bad name and a black eye! I’m sure it would both shock and surprise them to learn that most gay people live a holy, honorable, clean and dignified life! Being gay or straight makes little or no difference. Nor should it! Being caring, loving, forgiving, compassionate, etc., is what’s really important and in that regard one’s sexual preference doesn’t really matter. They need to remember that Jesus came for ALL PEOPLE…not just ‘some’ people! God loves all people equally! Always has! Always will!

Mar. 6, 2013 at 11:37amWBC only gives Christianity a bad name to non-Christians. Because Non-Christians have no earthly idea what Christianity is! They think being a Christian is a religion. It is not. Religion is man’s way of trying to reach Godliness. God’s way of reaching man is through his Son Jesus Christ, and He does not care one iota about religion. That’s not to say that all “religions” or denomonations are bad, no, it’s just that real Christianity is of the heart. A heart changed by God himself, permanently. Sadly, the number of real Christians doesn’t come close to the number of religious people on earth. But that is what God says in his word: Matthew 7:13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Humans are “wired” to look at each other in certain ways, and they believe they use those emotions in ways that do not harm others?
We can force ourselves to look at the bigger picture, such as the definition of marriage, or the support of Islam with public tax dollars, or we can wander around in the woods looking for food when there is a feast already cooked, and served, its on the table, come and get it?

Mar. 6, 2013 at 3:11amQuite as it’s kept, there are US churches that follow the same mindset as WBC though are not as vocal or prolific. One such case is the Northshore Baptist Church in NYC, run by some so-called pastor guy named Ed Moore. Some years back he excommunicated a widow woman and her young child, ordering the congregation to turn their noses up at her and the kid if they came upon them in the street. Mostly all agreed and clapped in spiteful glee. Her crime? Not agreeing with the guy’s personal opinion regarding a scripture verse that he was wrong in anyway. When he did this to the poor woman I left that abominable place. Some of these churches hold on to their own twisted doctrines and believe it’s their job to police the world, then when no one’s looking they take off their pious masks and live like the devil himself.

Having said that if you don’t repent you’ve got a serious problem come judgment day. 1 Peter 4:17 For the time [is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God? There are 2 judgment seats. One at the beginning of Jesus millennial reign (1000 year reign on earth; 1 Peter 4:17) and the second the Great White Throne of God in (Revelations 20:11-15). The Christian that shows up to the first without repenting are going to spend some time in outer darkness with the unbeliever (Luke 12:42-48). Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. I would be real careful about judging what’s written in the news about Christians. They hate Jesus and will lie a and these people that have been kicked out have an axe to grind. I don’t agree with going to peoples funerals but they are right about sodomy. This country sins (murders baby) and say they are clean. Same thing they were doing in Israel and Judea doing before God led them into captivity. They stoned the prophets that told them the truth. Now they just throw them out (2Ti 4:3). Isa 5:20; Heb 5:14. Yes indeed I did read the article. However, let’s cut through the ******** shall we? It states:
“People do engage in some of these activities that we believe only for example perverts engage in,” she said. “What the goal is is to increase compassion for people who may engage in activities that are not what you would personally consider normal.”
Notice the present tense? It’s not about the past. It wasn’t some survivors group. It’s about trying to desensitize people to it and promote compassion for “sexual diversity” much in the same way everyone did with homosexuality. Apparently you didn’t read it. There are entire websites on the Internet devoted entirely to “sex hookups” and sexual deviancy with multiple thousands of members. There are entire websites where people write out their perverse sexual fantasies. Do you recall recently where the police busted a girl having sex with a dog? Do you realize there are even entire websites devoted to this K9 sex perversion?

Either homosexuality is a sin that deserves fatal punishment, as the Bible says, or the Bible is wrong. Mar. 6, 2013 at 12:35amAll people should be put to death for sin. But we, as humans, subject to God’s judgment, are not to condemn a homosexual to death, only that they are committing sin. Ultimately, it is in God’s hands what is to be done.
If a man chooses to be gay, who am I to demand he stop, otherwise he deserves to be lynched? I am not taught to hate homosexuals, I am taught that homosexuality is against God’s Word, and that I, MYSELF am to resist it, so I do. But if another does not want to resist it, it is his/her choice, and I am okay with that.

Then there’s comet ISON in Nov/Dec, that one will be brighter, but not bright enough, cuz they are dimwits after all.
And finally, there’s comet C/2013 A1, which has a chance of crashing into Mars next year. Perfect. There are no gays on Mars, so I suggest the WBC peoples pack up their Nike’s and Kool-Aid, and hitch a ride for a crash course to Mars.

Mar. 5, 2013 at 8:19pmCan someone help distinguish any difference in Fred Phelps’ preaching of hate and Jeremiah Wright’s preaching of hate? Both indoctrinate the members of their respective congretation to hate others. Phelps preaches hatred of gays. Wright preaches hatred of whitey. Drain saw the light and removed herself from the influence of Phelps. Barry embraced the darkness of Wright and took it to a whole new level.

He also preaches hate for The Nation of Islam, He says there’s going to be a race war. He says they are recruiting black gang members who just can’t wait to kill white people. He said last year they would assassinate him.
Glenn Beck is using the same techniques too.

True Glenn, was attacking his policy, but, the only individual that pointed out Woodrow Wilson, was
Ayn Rand. Just like Glenn had mention and stated on his program this morning…”We are paying for

“As it is written: ‘God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you’” Roams 2:24.
The Westboro Baptist church preach a false-gospel. While they hold to the Westminster Baptist Confession and the 1689 Baptist Confession, they move past sound biblical doctrine into the realm of hyper-Calvinism. They do not preach a gospel of salvation for sinners from the Lord Jesus Christ, but rather continue to condemn them as hopeless. Christ saved us while we were sinners and His enemies. I agree that homosexuality is an abhorrent sin and is unnatural, but we need to understand that not just homosexuals will be thrown into the lake of fire, but all those who have not been washed by Christ’s blood and are written in the Book of Life. Christ did not tell us to protest and picket the world, but with all love and compassion rebuke, admonish, exhort, and warn the lost with the good news of our Lord through hearing the word of God, being witnesses for Christ in both word and deed. God bless.

The Observant Student will note that Chickyboy here is asserting that: “To say Homosexuality is a Perversion is to be de facto a Cult Member.”
Thus he consigns The Christian Orthodoxy of 2 millennia, believed everywhere, by all, always, to “cult” status.
The Thoughtful Student will thus have reached a cogent conclusion as to the Depth of Chicky’s Intellect and the Breadth of his Bigotry.

Mar. 5, 2013 at 10:20pmMaybe you should reread that, you seemed to have completely missed the point. God loves the sinner but hates the sin. The idea is for the sinner to turn away from the sin and be forgiven. He has given everyone free will to decide if they will act on their sinful urges or not. But if it would make you feel better to throw some other groups under the bus, here you go.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11;18-20
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
See? He wants everyone to keep their pants on and stop the shenanigans. Feel better?

Whole point to Que Ear marriage is to use the Imprimatur of The STATE to “norm’” que ear sex, THEN to use the POWER of The STATE to SILENCE any who refuse to “norm” it. Already being tried in Canada and Switzerland. More to the point here, the whole point to this Ivy League Sex Shop Tour was to NORM Perversion.
