‘Real News’: Update on the Gun Control Fight in State Legislatures
A Colorado State Senator made national news last month when commenting publicly on his criticism regarding the effectiveness of guns for a woman’s defense against rape. The comments came while arguing for increased gun control measures, measures that cleared another hurdle Monday by passing the Senate Judiciary Committee. The Colorado gun control overhaul is heading for a floor vote later this week, and includes a bill that would hold manufacturers and gun sellers liable if they “negligently entrusted” an assault-style weapon to someone whom they should have “reasonably” known would use it to cause harm. Conservatives consider the Colorado legislation only the latest in a string of reactionary gun control proposals to have passed or been pushed from New York to Maryland to Washington State, following a year that included several well-publicized instances of gun violence.
On “Real News” Tuesday the panel discussed if progressives still approach the issue of gun control with reasonable standards, updated on the activity of gun control proposals working their way through states in 2013, and analyzed where the federal government stands on reforming gun laws.

Posted on March 6, 2013 at 8:21amYou might want to purchase this pre-state Texas flag and display it inside or on the front of your home:

History:
In early January 1831, Green DeWitt wrote to Ramón Músquiz, the top political official of Bexar, and requested armament for defense of the colony of Gonzales. This request was granted by delivery of a small used cannon. The small bronze cannon was received by the colony and signed for on March 10, 1831, by James Tumlinson, Jr.[4] The swivel cannon was mounted to a blockhouse in Gonzales, Texas and later was the object of Texas pride. At the minor skirmish known as the Battle of Gonzales—the first battle of the Texas Revolution against Mexico—a small group of Texians successfully resisted the Mexican forces who had orders from Col. Domingo de Ugartechea to seize their cannon. As a symbol of defiance, the Texans had fashioned a flag containing the phrase “come and take it” along with a black star and an image of the cannon which they had received six years earlier from Mexican officials—this was the same message that was sent to the Mexican government when they told the Texans that they had to return their cannon—failure to comply with the Mexican’s original demands led to the failed attempt by the Mexican military to forcefully take back the cannon.

Posted on March 6, 2013 at 8:19amI don’t believe that the new gun control measures are going to pass over-all. A few states might invoke a few draconian laws but they can be overturned at a later date, just like the original so called, “Assault Weapons Ban”. In general, I really don’t care if some people want to become helpless victims and think that the police and courts will protect them, so long as they leave my state alone; Florida. Thanks.

“Forty years ago, when the resolution of enslaving America was formed in Great Britain, the British Parliament was advised by an artful man [i.e., Sir William Keith], who was governor of Pennsylvania, to disarm the people; that it was the best and most effectual way to enslave them; but that they should not do it openly, but weaken them, and let them sink gradually . . . ”

“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?.”
Jefferson, Thomas. Thomas Jefferson to William Smith, November 13, 1787.
While not a eloquent as these gentlemen – all I can say to the Colorado Legislature is Molon Labe.

Posted on March 5, 2013 at 11:59pmThe reason our founders included the 2nd amendment was not for personal protection or hunting, it was for citizen’s ability to protect the Constitution. Any American citizen giving up their right to own guns is simply a coward and has very misguided trust in government. Our Constitution gives us the right to own “arms”, it places no limit on the type or how many shots it may hold. Because of what is representing “leadership” at this point in Washington, there has never been a greater threat to our Constitution or freedom. When American’s allow themselves to be disarmed Liberty will be but a memory.

Posted on March 5, 2013 at 10:34pmI think that if this attack on our personal rights and freedoms should pass in CO that all non-resident hunters should boycott CO this year. The deadline for the drawing for big game hunts this year is April 2. The non resident hunter has a huge economic impact on CO and we need to show them that this infringement on our liberty is unacceptable. I for one, will not go hunting in CO if this passes.
