Bill O’Reilly’s clash with liberal commentator Alan Colmes on Tuesday night quickly went viral. The point of contention that caused the verbal sparring match? O’Reilly claimed that Colmes couldn’t name any specific examples of spending cuts that President Barack Obama has proposed.

On Wednesday, the host doubled-down in an intense exchange with Fox News political analyst Kirsten Powers, noting, again, that the president has not made specific proposals in regards to cuts.

At the beginning of the segment, it was clear that Powers came to the table ready to rebuke O’Reilly over his claims the night before. She immediately told the host that she was surprised to hear him hunkering down on his contentions about the president’s spending cuts. At one point, she said, ”Bill, you are a hundred percent wrong.”

Powers’ main point was that the president has, indeed, made budget proposals. However, O’Reilly felt Obama’s suggestions haven’t been as specific as what some Republicans like Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) have put on the table.

“You told Alan last night that he hasn’t made any specific suggestions on Medicare — completely untrue,” Powers charged. “$400 billion dollars in cuts to federal health care spending. It’s laid out there pretty clearly.”

The two proceeded to go back-and-forth, as O’Reilly defended his argument with Colmes and demanded to hear a specific company’s name be highlighted from the list of Obama’s proposed spending cuts (a request that Powers didn’t fulfill).

“Powers, you don’t have one drug company mentioned,” he said.

“You need to admit you’re wrong about this,” Powers later responded, at one point reading portions of documents highlighting the White House’s stance on cuts.

After arguments abounded and the two failed to convince one another, the political analyst concluded by uttering, “This is ridiculous.”

  If I spend less on crack and the buy more heroin Inot cutting my expense just changing where I’m spending. More over in the Obama case it’s the 400 billion is just the tip of the iceberg that is Obamacare spending. The program will end up costing more than medicare and medicaid combined.

  Mmmm. Dems don’t talk much about their “cuts”. Any cuts suggested by a repub is lambasted repeatedly. A repub cut = “gutting”, and my favorite, “ending the program as we know it”, says all members of the demo cult. It’s clear, to keep the programs going, changes have to be made. The dems are seeking to blame repubs. It’s all politics. The dems will let the country collapse in order to stay in power. Thing is, if they stay in power, it will collapse anyway. Neither party had an effective argument in this exchange. O’Reilly has apparently bought into the beltway insider idea that a drop in the rate of spending increases is a “cut” even when more money will still be spent next year. Powers only made one attempt at specificity by bringing up Medicare “cuts” to be had from negotiations with drug companies. If they can negotiate such “cuts” next year, why didn’t they do it this year or last year? Anticipated savings don’t even count as beltway insider cuts in the rate of baseline budget increases. It’s time to reboot the rhetoric.

It isn’t a cut just borrowed money shifting from one unconstitutional government program to another. This government has never cut a program and it never will,they only get bigger and more costly. They will replace the ‘cuts’ in medicare because it’s a government program and they always get bigger.

  Specific cuts? The Pres has none – negotiate with drug companies? which companies, how much of negotiated $ cuts, it doesn’t say; means testing for Medicare &/or SS – which age is targeted, what $ point is pointed to for paying more or receiving less, again he doesn’t name any figures. If you know that you have to cut your budget you propose specific $ cuts in specific categories or you are just hoping and are not serious – that is how you run a profitable business and your personal household otherwise it is all pie in the sky.

I watched this last night, and watching it again, Powers is still sounding about as stupid as Droopy Dog from the night before. One thing I caught this time was her mention of 0bama’s Fiscal Year 2013 Budget when she referred to the web site. LOL, she is being vague and Bill is calling her out on it. But, I also have to agree with GONZO regarding Bill acting like the three monkey when it came to the last four years of 0bama.

It holds entertainment value only, the debate is meaningless.

I really can’t watch The Factor anymore. O’Reilly just grates on me…

That’s a fact she brought forth herself on FOX. Her boyfriends love to hide behind her skirt. That’s also “ridiculous” but entirely true. I don’t like O’Reilly, but he’s correct – there are NO specifics; only words. It has been the DemonicRat strategy for decades, to avoid specificity about ANYTHING – “Well, um, we have to first pass the bill, um , in order to see what’s in it” – Nancy Pelosi pushing for Obammycare in 2010.

The Hon. Ronald Reagan fell for it in 1986, when he agreed to a tax hike the DemonicRats were demanding, in exchange for UNSPECIFIED cuts – the taxes were passed, but the cuts never materialized.

  The thing about O’Reilly is that he goes ballistic on Colmes (and others) for ratings in my opinion. Rand Paul is in the middle of a filibuster last night and Bill’s lead story last night was his confrontation with Colmes. I think most of Bill’s kerfuffles are like watching WWE wrestling.

  The problem Fish, is that there are no “big boy or big girl ” pants to be found on the liberal side of the aisle, and very few on the conservative side for that matter! As WOODYEE pointed out, “unspecified cuts” in future spending are a pipe dream! They never happen! Yet those are the arguments that are consistently thrown around by people like Colmes and Powers! They know that their only argument is to spin/lie about it! I don’t fault O’Reilly at all! Untill the idiots come up with an actuall budget, and truely cut something! CALL EM OUT!!!!!!!
