Sens. McCain & Graham Dedicate Morning to Discrediting Paul Filibuster (Graham Even Uses a Shame Chart!)
Following the conclusion of Sen. Rand Paul’s nearly 13-hour filibuster of the White House’s secretive drone program, GOP senators Lindsay Graham (S.C.) and John McCain (Ariz.) took the opportunity to deride his efforts as absurd and “not helpful.”
“I don’t think that what happened yesterday is helpful to the American people,” Sen. McCain said after reading aloud a Wall Street Journal editorial that characterizes Sen. Paul’s concerns as “ridiculous.”
“To allege that … our government would drop a drone hellfire missile on Jane Fonda,” he continued, “that brings the conversation from a serious discussion about U.S. policy to the realm of the ridiculous.”
He also accused Sen. Paul of giving ammunition to the filibuster reform crowd:
Meanwhile, Sen. Lindsay Graham had this to say: “This idea that we’re going to use a drone to attack a citizen in a cafe in America is ridiculous.”
See for yourself:
Later, while speaking on the Senate floor, Sen. Graham continued his criticism of Sen. Paul.
“I don’t remember any of my GOP colleagues coming here to say Bush would kill Americans with a drone,” said Graham. “The chance of you being killed by a drone because you went to a Tea Party rally … is zero.”
Sen. Graham even brought a chart and everything:
Basically, as of this writing, the White House’s unofficial response to Sen. Paul’s filibuster has come from two GOP senators and a Wall Street Journal editorial.
This is very simple. If you think we are & should be at war always & everywhere, you’re with McCain and Graham. If not, you #standwithrand.

TWO BITS
Posted on March 7, 2013 at 12:46pmThis issue is complicated by having a president and an attorney general with no credibility. Rand Paul is standing on his own two feet and gaining experience, but I wanted clarification of his exact position. It should be noted that he used the phrases “pose an imminent threat” and “actively engaging in attacking” both of which could be interpreted to mean that a drone strike may indeed someday be justified.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 12:45pmJust because there have been Zero killed in America by Drone attacks; does that mean we are just going to trust the President not to do it, if given the authority? Insanity!!

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 12:44pmThe idea that the govt could try to take away the right to bear arms and even take guns away from hunters is ridiculous. THe idea that govt could try tell me what to eat is ridiculous or that they can tell me that I can’t smoke in my own home is ridiculous. The idea that govt can try to just place on anything they choose is ridiculous. Oh, they’ve already done all those things. Don’t try to tell me now that it is ridiculous to think that the govt will at some point start spying on or taking out American citizens that it has deemed dangerous.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 12:42pmIf that doesn’t prove that these two boobs need to be ousted, I don’t know what does. They are not out of touch, they are part of the problem. These two will help disarm Americans; mark my words. I think they converted McCain into a communist plant during his stay at the Hanoi Hilton. He is not a Patriot. He is not worthy of our respect or our honor.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 12:41pmSo let me get this straight, McCain and Graham approve of drone strikes against Americans? Well if they are not against it, they are for it, pretty logical to me.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 12:41pmI knew long ago when McCain was selected for the GOP Nomination that it was over. He spoke of reaching accross the aisle back then and thought THAT would land him some liberal votes. He flip-flopped so much that I remember when he ran against Bush in the 1st primary (and Lost) he was effectively Pro-Choice. When asked in the next primary he said “I’m pro-life. I’ve always been pro-life. I believe that life begins at conception.” Graham seems to mix words. To sum it all up; I don’t think they understand that there are lines that you must hold and not allow them to be stepped over in the name of COMPROMISE.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 12:40pmThe are being deceitful. Americans haven’t been killed in the US with drones Duh. They’ve been killed in OTHER countries with drones.
I don’t care how many were killed. It is not the numbers that count here.
It doesn’t matter that those citizens were high up in a terrorist organization. American citizens have the right to trial. I don’t care what horrible things they have done. We tried Jeffrey Dahmer, we didn’t just kill him for his egregious crimes because we knew for sure he did them.
It is just plain against the Constitution, and our Constitution should be upheld even if it’s inconvenient and even if it hinder us from making a bad guy pay for his crimes.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 12:39pmWatched McCain on CSPAN this morning – it was like watching a girl still smitten from her date from the night before (maybe Obama slipped him a ruffee). Could he & Graham have had their noses any further up OB’s rear?
Attempting to disparage or discredit a fellow Senator for standing up for the People via the Constitution is low. And very Obama-esque.

DHS purchases:
- 2700 MRAP (mine resistant, armored) Vehicles for Domestic Use
- Buys over 1 billion, with a ”b”, rounds of hollow point bullets this year worth of ammo (would take 24 years to expend at the rate we used per day in Iraq at the height of action there)
FAA & FCC – put in place air control structure to conduct drone flights throughout the Continental US

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 12:36pmMcCain is needed on this argument. This is a follow up to his stand on torture. McCains comments just confirm that man’s wishy washy politics. I respect McCain for what he has been through, but I don’t see him as a champion to anything beyond moderate politics.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 12:36pmYeah, .. I listened for a small time to Mcain, .. he is the problem, of the republican party! .. He really didn’t get it .. what an idiot. He is forgetting how Obama and his administration routinely trample all over the US constitution. Mcain is assuming that Obama will play nice, just because of the constitution. No, no, no … no one should assume that. This president or any down the road, need clearly defined rules to conduct themselves by. Rand Paul has a good point, and Mcain should have noted it, instead of belittling Rand. Too bad we can’t get the Republicans and conservatism to be united … It’s time for the TEA PARTY to get going .. maybe they would do a better job … at controlling people like Obama ..
