Tea Party Favorite Rand Paul Is Able to Get Support for His Drone Filibuster From the Far-Left
Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky on Wednesday staged a truly remarkable filibuster for more than 12 hours, blocking President Barack Obama’s CIA nominee John Brennan and putting the federal government’s controversial drone program in the national spotlight.
By his own admission, Paul would have ended the filibuster immediately and allowed the vote on Brennan to proceed if the White House would’ve simply said it would not conduct drone strikes against Americans on U.S. soil. The Obama administration did not respond to Paul’s concerns Wednesday.
However, the senator’s amazing feat did earn the respect from many on the left, including some far-left groups.
The far-left anti-war group Code Pink supported Paul throughout the nearly 13 hour filibuster, they even plan to visit his office on Thursday.
Dear #RandPaul, thanks for filibustering John Brennan! Love, @codepink DC #StandWithRand twitter.com/codepink/statu…
— CODEPINK (@codepink) March 6, 2013
Left and right should come together to stop #drone killing. Meet tomorrow at @randpaul office 1pm. #standwithrand
— CODEPINK (@codepink) March 7, 2013
Which Americans should the 5th Amendment apply to, @barackobama? Who makes the Kill List you and John Brennan put together? #StandWithRand
— CODEPINK (@codepink) March 7, 2013
Comedian Jon Stewart commended Sen. Paul on his Comedy Central program Wednesday night, saying he used the filibuster “the way it’s meant to be used.”
Stewart said drone oversight is certainly an issue “worth kicking up a fuss for.”
As TheBlaze previously reported, former Obama czar Van Jones also applauded Paul’s effort.
“Rand Paul is the MAN right now,” Jones tweeted via his official Twitter account.
Current TV, soon-to-become Al Jazeera America, host Cenk Uygur said it sickens him to see liberals defending Obama “on this clearly unconstitutional claim because he is their dear leader.” Oh, and he also supported Rand Paul’s filibuster on drones.
Now 15 Senators have joined Rand Paul in his #filibuster in its 13th hour.Only one Democrat. Progressive Dems, where are you? #StandWithRand
— Cenk Uygur (@cenkuygur) March 7, 2013
To Dems: Just because I disagree with Rand Paul on 90% of issues, does that mean I have to disagree with him on the other 10%? To spite him?
— Cenk Uygur (@cenkuygur) March 7, 2013
However, liberal Democratic lawmakers are another story as very few were willing to publicly support Paul’s cause against domestic drone use. Paul said liberal Democrats are “suspiciously quiet” because they have so much faith in President Barack Obama.
Just one Democrat senator, Ron Wyden of Oregon, actually participated in the filibuster and voiced his concerns about domestic drone use. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) asked Paul some silly questions, but did not join in the filibuster.
This led Hollywood actor John Cusack to ask: “For God’s sake, where are Democrats?”

You idiots that voted for Obama had your heads in the sand when others out there were saying he has an agenda he wants to transform all of America and not for the good. Maybe if he does enough there will be more willing to impeach and this way we can also get rid of Holder as well.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 7:27amAnyone with two braincells to rub together should’ve supported Rand. I mean, the possible thought that the gov’t could kill Americans at will within the US is insane, and without due process, it would set a president and all due process would be thrown out the window allowing the govt to just pick people up off the street and allow a person or small group to be judge, jury and executioner… this is all the nightmare once envisioned when the Patriot Act was enacted and now would be on steroids with the permission to just kill any American within our country. If the Press doesn’t get behind Rand and push hard back against Obama, they will have blood on their hands.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 6:17amEric Holder and Barack Obama have struck yet again.
They killed Brian Terry, a US Border Agent, by selling arms to Mexican drug cartels in the “Fast and Furious” treason.
They killed four American men in Benghazi on 9/11/12 because they wanted to cover-up the fact that they were shipping arms to Al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria.
Now, they promise that they won’t use the power they profess they have to kill US citizens on US soil with armed drones. I believe their track record eliminates any sort of trust by Americans.
One day soon, Obama and Holder and some of their stooges will stand in front of a federal judge and hear that judge pronounce their sentence, “Hung by the neck until dead.”
I’ll buy the rope!

30,000 drone equals:
1 drone for every 10,466 U.S.citizens
1 drone for every 4433 housing units.
600 drones per state.
Add this to everything the government has been doing over the last 4 years, equals the government is preparing for war against the America people.

Infact Progressivism has often been tied to Mussolini style fascism, seeing it as efficient… In Fascism, which is a mix of capitalism and socialism, “state capitalism”. In that the government doesn’t own businesses but it controls bussinesses. In straight out communism the state gets rid of the middleman, and owns and controls all means of production.
Lest we also forget, Hitler was not the only one to have concentration camps. The US had concentration camps for Japanese, Italians, Germans, Aleutians, etc. Perhaps, Wilson and Roosevelt didn’t go on a killing spree like Hitler’s goons in those camps, but they were hardly a “vacation’ either.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 7:32amExactly. True Conservatism (preservation of one’s self) is nearly identical to Classical Liberalism (what we now refer to as libertarianism).
The CORE of the tea party movement (the anger) and the CORE of the occupy wall st movement (the anger) are one in the same, and the same message. Stop messing with us, stop controlling us, stop telling us what to do, stop taking what is ours.
When both of these sides figure this out, and I mean BOTH sides, maybe we will see some real change in this country.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 7:39amYou are absolutely correct. But us liberals also realize that Obama was not the first president to find legal rationale for killing an American without trial. The two priors are Lincoln and Bush.
Can I just say, that while I feel Obama has done great things for this country, and I do not side with you on 90% of what you say about him, on this topic we agree. He has been a terrible president when it comes to individual rights. I voted for him in 2008, I voted for Democrats in 2010, I voted for Gary Johnson in 2012.
I still prescribe to the democratic philosophy over the republican, but the libertarian over the democratic when it comes to individual freedoms.
If you want people like myself to ever vote republican, end this war on same sex marriage, because no one is free from their government if you tell them who they can love. End this war on the environment, because no one is free if they are able to make all the money they want while spoiling habitats for the rest of us. End this war on drugs, because no one is free to have power over their body when religious and paternal groups try to tell us what we can and can not put into them.
Democrats and republicans both argue for freedom and rights, but they argue for different freedom and rights. D’s for personal choice freedoms, and R’s for protective and financial freedoms.
When these two come together, and only when these two come together, will we see real change in this country.
