WASHINGTON (TheBlaze/AP) — Osama bin Laden’s spokesman, son-in-law, and fellow 9/11 conspirator has been captured by the United States, officials said Thursday, in what a senior congressman called a “very significant victory” in the ongoing fight against al-Qaida.
Abu Ghaith is expected to be in U.S. federal court in New York on Friday in an initial hearing to face terror charges, according to a law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information.
Rep. Peter King, the former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, credited the CIA and FBI with catching al-Qaida propagandist Sulaiman Abu Ghaith in Jordan within the last week. He said the capture was confirmed to him by U.S. law enforcement officials.
A Jordanian security official confirmed that al-Ghaith was handed over last week to U.S. law enforcement officials under both nations’ extradition treaty. He declined to disclose other details and spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.
Here one of his infamous call-to-jihad videos:
“Definitely, one by one, we are getting the top echelons of al-Qaida,” said King, R-N.Y. “I give the (Obama) administration credit for this: it’s steady and it’s unrelenting and it’s very successful.”
Abu Ghaith became an international name in late 2001 when he appeared on pan-Arab satellite television urging Muslims everywhere to fight the United States and warning of more attacks similar to those of Sept. 11. In one video, he was sitting with bin Laden in front of a rock face in Afghanistan. A teacher and mosque preacher in Kuwait, he was stripped of his Kuwaiti citizenship after 9/11.
He is identified as a major al-Qaida core official by the New America Foundation think tank in Washington. King said Abu Ghaith was involved in the planning in the 9/11 attacks against the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
Tom Lynch, a research fellow at the National Defense University in Washington, described Abu Ghaith as one of a small handful of senior al-Qaida leaders “capable of getting the old band back together and postured for a round of real serious international terror.”
“His capture and extradition not only allows the U.S. to hold – and perhaps try – a reputed al-Qaida core survivor, further tarnishing the AQ core brand, but it also points to the dangers for those few remaining al-Qaida core refugees,” Lynch said.
The Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reported that Abu Ghaith was caught while passing through Jordan, on his way to Kuwait, shortly after leaving Turkey.
The newspaper said that Abu Ghaith was taken into custody more than a month ago at a luxury hotel in in Ankara, the Turkish capital. But Turkish officials decided he had not committed any crime in Turkey and released him, the newspaper reported.
In Ankara, Turkish officials refused to confirm Abu Ghaith’s deportation or his capture in Jordan to The Associated Press. In Amman, the Jordanian capital, a security official said he had no information on the CIA arrest in Jordan.
U.S. intelligence officials in Washington and New York refused to comment on the case.
Here’s the indictment against Abu Ghaith:

Now look at metallurgy. Structural steel will resist 11,500,000psi of shear force, the strongest aluminum only reaches 48,000psi. The alleged column failure (a cartoon silhouette shaped like a plane) would strictly be a shearing force. KE=1/2M(Vsq) simply put, there is not enough velocity. NO POSSIBLE WAY A MATERIAL CAN OVER COME 230:1 shear force ratio at 500fps.

Force=mass*acceleration and
(Final velocity)^2=(Initial velocity)^2+2*acceleration*(distance traveled)
If you can’t find the force from those equations then you are not qualified to speak.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 3:49pmEnergy is force over time, very much related. That garbage isn’t even close to right, it’s nothing more than double talk, a formula you want ppl to believe. You can’t even express a derivative correctly, and the equations aren’t even balanced (in units). The ALLEGED FAILURE is a shear force, and aluminum in NEVER used in shearing dies. I designed shearing dies in college, and there is way too much STRUCTURAL STEEL, for a 767 to penetrate AND completely disappear. It couldn’t even shear a SINGLE column, let alone 27.
Air fuel detonations do not occur in enclosed areas, due to the lack of needed OXYGEN. Nothing more than a hollywood spl effects HOAX.!.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 4:41pmActually, energy is measured in force times distance, not force per unit time. Just look at your own equation. If KE= 1/2*m*v^2 and F=m*a then the units of force are mass*distance/(time)^2 and energy would be mass*(distance)^2/(time)^2. You clearly know absolutely zero about physics and I seriously have to question your claims about your background. Not only does my equation balance in units, that equation is so basic I was using it junior year of HIGH SCHOOL. Both sides of my second equation have units of L^2/T^2 where L is distance (i.e. foot, meter, etc) and T is time. How can you not know about this equation? All it is is the kinematic definitions of position and velocity resolved to eliminate the term for time. I could derive it from simple definitions in my sleep.
And what do you mean by “disappear”? Nothing “disappears” in the real world. The plane wouldn’t have disappeared, it would have been pulverized by the force of the impact leaving little of anything intact.

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 5:43pmOh and by the way, you do realize that psi isn’t even a unit of force, it’s a unit of force per unit area, also known as pressure. What does this mean? It means that the shearing force is dependent on the area over which the force is applied. Moreover, not one thing you provided would help us find the force without more information.
I’ll make you a deal. If you can provide me with the following information, I’ll tell you how much force would need to be exerted to keep the plane from penetrating the building. That information is:
1. The weight or mass of the plane
2. The plane’s velocity at the time of impact
3. The distance from the nose of the plane to the plane’s center of mass (I’d expect the COM to be near the wings).

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 6:37pmI really don’t even like addressing you, but you really need to be put in your place. Esp claiming you understood higher level physics as a in jr HS. You many have been exposed to it, but that is it.
You are trying to confuse pounds and kilograms, they are NOT the same units. Mass (Kg) is weight times acceleration of gravity 9.8m/s^2. Pounds do not account for gravity. HP=550 ft#/sec=746W Notice here FOOT POUNDS(a force) over TIME.
Now I will give you the benefit of the doubt, trying to express math equations in text is a b!tch, BUT…
(Final velocity)^2=(Initial velocity)^2+2*acceleration*(distance traveled)
Fv^2=Iv^2 yes
Fv^2 does not equal w/ 2*(distance/T^2)*(distance traveled) the units are not in balance.
DISAPPEAR, as in, never to be seen again. No black boxes (unless you believe J Ventura), no debris (except the planted turbines/landing gear to conform to the ESB strike), NOTHING was recovered from the demolition site. The N tower was struck 1st, but somehow the communications system was down?? Those firefighters who made it to the FAKE impact zone in the S tower reported “isolated pockets of fire” NOTHING ELSE. Then by some act of god, the S tower fell 1st?? This was nothing more than the port authority getting rid of the witnesses who could let ppl know the truth, the N tower had no com so they could take all day.
The failure displayed on TV was in the SHEAR plane, and is NOT POSSIBLE.

Proof of your own ineptitude. You said that mass is equal to weight times the acceleration due to gravity (m=Fa)? The precise opposite is true. Weight is by definition the FORCE that gravity exerts on an object. Force is defined as the mass multiplied by the acceleration (F=ma). Therefore a 1 Kg object is subject to 9.8 Newtons of by force by gravity.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton_%28unit%29
As for pounds, there are two such units and the one most commonly used is pounds-force, which does account for the acceleration due to gravity. Pounds-mass is the other unit. There also exists the Slug, another unit of mass.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pound_%28mass%29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pound_%28force%29
In addition, HP (which stands for horsepower) and W (watts) are units of POWER, not energy. Power is defined as energy per unit time. The foot-pounds is not a unit of force it’s a unit of work or ENERGY, the English equivalent of the Joule. Just as 1 Joule is defined as the energy transferred to an object by applying a 1 Newton force over a distance of 1 meter, a foot-pound is the energy transferred to an object by applying a 1 pound force over a distance of 1 meter (hence the name).

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 8:50pmAnd you’re still wrong about the unit balances. Velocity is defined as distance per unit time (meters per second, fps, mph, etc.) so velocity squared obviously equals distance squared divided by time squared (i.e. m^2/s^2). Acceleration is defined as velocity per unit time and is expressed in terms of distance per unit time squared (i.e. m/s^2). Therefore acceleration times distance must give units of distance squared per time squared ([m/s^2]*m=m^2/s^2), the same as velocity squared. The fact you couldn’t figure that out speaks volumes. That equation is 100% accurate and I can prove it.
http://www.physicsclassroom.com/Class/1DKin/u1l6a.cfm
It’s the part in red letters under the heading “The Kinematic Equations”. Even you should be able to find it.
Simply put, you can’t even explain what each unit measures let alone how they relate to one another. Did you even know the units acceleration was measured in? You don’t even know the difference between force, energy, pressure, and power. This is the most basic of all physics and you can’t even properly describe the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration as explained by Isaac Newton himself. And yet you have the hubris to accuse ME of not knowing anything?

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 10:13pmOk, Tzion, I concede the point of missing a factor of time between power and energy and retract my statement calling you low on the intelligence ladder. But I didn’t run off to wiki to study up on information learned 20yr ago, just to prove my comprehension of the subject.
Admittedly my exp in SI units is lacking and it would be much easier in said units.
1. 180,000 Kg an acceptable weight?
2. 150 meters/sec an acceptable speed? Prefer m/s, as it is a common standard for ballistics.
3. What it the purpose of CoM? Yes, it would be in the wings, as 70 of the 200tons are fuel.
Yield 1/2(400,000#)*(500fps^2)= 50×10^9 ft#/(s^2) for english std equiv.

The purpose of the COM is to determine the stopping distance. If, as you claim, the plane wouldn’t penetrate the wall of the building, it stands to reason that the COM wouldn’t either. Since all forces can be treated as acting on the COM and recognizing that the plane can deform to avoid entering the building so long as the COM remains outside of the wall, we can use the distance from the COM to the nose as the stopping distance. Using the equation I provided, we can then acquire the acceleration and from that we have the force required to stop the plane.
Since a 767 is about 48.5 meters long I’ll approximate the CoM to be about 21 meters from the nose. Using 150 m/s as the initial velocity, the equation Vf^2=Vi^2 +2ad gives an average acceleration of about -535.7 m/s^2. With a mass of 180,000 kg, the equation F=ma yields an average force of 9.64*10^7 Newtowns. This is equivalent to 2.17*10^7 pounds of force. But this itself is only an average and the actual force would vary over time. I should also point out that the typical cruising speed of a a 767 is closer to 230 m/s. Moreover, since the beams of the building don’t move significantly, there must be a second, equally powerful force acting on the beams through the structure of the building creating shear. Is the beam strong enough to hold under these conditions?

Posted on March 7, 2013 at 11:23pmAgree the cruise speed is much higher, but the air at sea level is three times as dense and requires six times the power. This also effects the engines throughput of power/air, it can only handle so many molecules. But according to my est, it wouldn’t even happen at that speed, so I wouldn’t disagree w/ a second calc run to the higher end. On a side note, engineering notation would help others who might want to follow this, ie exponents incremented in 3, I understand the numbers and can keep up w/ it, the layman may have more trouble. My field of study is manufacturing, but I did have to get a good comprehension of physics in the process. You seem to grasp it better at this time than I.
Still very interested in following this threw, TZion, but exercise has got the better of me today. Will have to tackle it in the morning as fatigue is reducing my thought process at this time.
Is there a forum you frequent? It would be easier to keep up w/ if this drags out a few days.

Posted on March 8, 2013 at 8:39am535 m/s divided by 9.8 ms would yield approximately 55g. Road racing cars have been known to withstand 80g and remain (fairly) intact. It would take just under 2sq in to resist 21.7×10^6 pounds of shear plane force. It would take 255 sq in to resist this(21.7) force in tension, but that is the back side of the columns. This is about 1.7 sq” per foot of wingspan. But the majority of acceleration would come from the fuselage, which is just over 16ft(5m) in diam.
The thing that really is ignored are the column edges, which provide an extreme amount of resistance due to modules of inertia. My best est for column thickness is 10mm(3/8″), with 4 sides.
Will find better number to deal w/ the math today, hopefully.
