Does Your Neighbor’s Drone Infringe on Your Privacy Rights?
While weaponized drones against terrorists have taken up the lion’s share of the conversation in the media, this isn’t the only way in which drones push the boundaries of our rights. Most drones are armed with cameras and may be used for surveillance. As demonstrated by Anthony Cumia’s S800 HexiCopter, surveiling your neighbors is now a fairly easy proposition.
Questions regarding privacy rights and domestic drones have been raised before. On ‘Real News’ Thursday the panel discussed privacy expectations for domestic drone use: Will private drone ownership be the newest right under the second amendment? And what changes may need to be made to the law to adjust for new technology. Watch a clip below:
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Posted on March 8, 2013 at 12:44pmSo, how many people here have ‘neighbours’ that never seem to get caught by the cops doing ‘bad’ things? Like people stopping by at all hours of the night, going to the ‘neighbours’ front door, pushing money through a mail slot and getting something in return? But the local cops, just never seem to be around and don’t wanna take the time to ‘investigate’. Well, now is your chance to get put an eye in the sky for less then $500 and turn the video over to the DA instead and get rid of those ‘neighbours’ and those lazy, bribe taking cops get whats coming to them too!

Posted on March 9, 2013 at 9:03amExcept for that silly Constitution getting in the way…. As soon as you gather intelligence with the intent of turning over to the police, you are working as an agent of the state and violating your neighbors 4th Amendment rights. Grow a pair and deal with your neighbor. Stop wanting the state to fix your issues.

Posted on March 8, 2013 at 12:05pmTo a certain degree yes it (a neighbor’s drone) does infringe on privacy, but i do not fear drones from my neighbors as much as i do Gov, for the simple fact that my neighbor does not have authority to lock me in a cage and remove my freedom if he does not like what he sees.
If neighbors did use drone to film your land without your consent it could/should not be used in court of law. Also because it is trespassing I can forcibly remove it from my airspace.

Posted on March 9, 2013 at 2:28amHere’s a thought, you do not own your own airspace. If that were the case than aircraft could not fly in this country without clearance from all of the individuals that own it. That would make travel impossible. What you do in the privacy of your home is private. What you do in your front or backyard is the business of everyone around you.

Posted on March 8, 2013 at 9:42amThis drone thing will not end well in America.
Sure, it’ll start off benign enough (as it has). Then the evil ones will justify each foot down the slippery slope and there will be no will to resist it, just as with the boiled frog. America will someday become a complete police state and armed drones will lead the way to control its citizens. It is inevitable.
If you think that video was good, just wait. Wait until your neighbor has micro drones and flies one INSIDE your house without you even knowing. All this technology is a double-edged sword. For every good purpose, folks will exploit two bad ones.

Posted on March 8, 2013 at 9:23amAbsolutely it is an infringement on my right to privacy. It is no different than a person with binoculars across the street or some one walking up to a window. When I was a child I remember my father confronting a man looking into our windows at the point of a 30-30 . He held him for the police. They promptly escorted him to the edge of town and told him not to return. What ever happened to those days. Now we have to worry about neighbors drones. It seems a pellet gun might be in order.

Posted on March 8, 2013 at 9:02amThis was fascinating to listen to! Thanks to TheBlaze for giving me the opportunity to ‘sit at a table’ and listen to a group of INTELLIGENT folk hammer about an issue. Thanks again for presenting us with a different kind of eye-candy: whereas your common, liberal television fair is bimbo with a talent to read a teleprompter, Amy Holmes is beautiful AND has a brain – something men like me appreciate!

Posted on March 8, 2013 at 5:55pmSo an HD camera, on a drone, flying on my property, taking pictures of my house/inside my house is not a violation of my privacy? Weaponization aside, anything on the drone besides what makes it fly should be illegal. Ridiculous.

Slingshot and a rock will do nicely at low altitudes. Modify a microwave transmitter for the freq. used and use a pringles can antenna, aim and poof no more drone. After loosing a $1000+ drone, they might think twice about repeating the mistake.
