French Mother on Trial for Sending Son Named ‘Jihad’ to Nursery School With ‘Born on 11 September’ Shirt

French Mother Sends Son Named Jihad to Nursery School With Born on 11 September Shirt, On Trial

Bouchra Bagour is facing charges of glorifying crime after she sent her son Jihad to school with T-shirt that read “I am the bomb”. (Computergirls1985)

Bouchra Bagour says she doesn’t defend terrorism, but is on trial in Southern France charged with “glorifying crime” after she sent her son named “Jihad” to nursery school with a T-shirt reading “I am a bomb” and “Born on 11 September.”

BBC News reports that the 35-year-old was reported to police by a teacher last September after her son wore  a shirt to school on September 24 that read “I am a bomb” on the front and “Jihad, born on 11 September” on the back. Bargour’s brother gave the shirt to the boy, and is a co-defendent in the case. Bargour has said in court that she put the shirt on her son “without stopping to think about it.”

“Jihad’s” birthday is September 11, and mother and uncle claim that the shirt did not intend to refer to the 9/11 attacks on the United States. Prosecutors don’t believe their story, and France 24 reports that the two face up to five years in prison and fines of up to 45,000 euros each.

A photo of the shirt can be seen on the French website Le Parisien.

Yet another reason to not believe in Evolution. If Evolution works because of “survival of the fittest,” why are people becoming dumber and dumber? Sometimes I wonder how most people remember to breathe and yet the number of stupid people in the world keeps increasing exponentially. If Darwin was right, you’d think we’d all be up there with Albert Einstein after 200,000 years of human evolution.

Actually, I have a theory about the ubiquity of stupidity these days, and believe the reason there are so many stupid people in the world is because the world is becoming increasingly sinful. Ever seen a smart gang of criminals? Yeah, me neither. Focusing on our own lusts (e.g., hate, greed, etc.), tends to make us do really stupid, inconsiderate things because we are only thinking of ourselves and not how our actions impact others. When the anti-Christ is revealed, a world of stupid people will be cheering him on.

I do not know what Constitutional laws she has in France, but when she named the child she had a right. Or wouldn’t the agency receiving the birth certificate have done something then, or the court not allowed the name? The statue of Liberty came from the French. I would hope they can have free speech, and this this is not a sign of a more oppressive New World Order of socialism/Marxism. It is so like American teachers reporting and sending a child for counseling, after intimidating him or her, for a toy bubble gun left at home, but mentioned to a friend on the bus, or a piece of paper intended to be a mountain, but shaped like — well, let’s learn the geometrical name and stop calling it a gun. Jihad, well, many names have been poorly chosen for boys. “Sue,” “Amy,” “Butch,” “Steve,” ‘Dick,” “John,” and a whole lot worse I wouldn’t know and couldn’t repeat. Unfortunate, but surely not illegal after five years? Where is the statute? As some are making up misinterpretations of the Constitution for their own convenience, as well as state and local laws, this sounds like such a socialist, stateless gesture, a new world order. Sure, his big brother was having fun at his expense. But it shouldn’t be jail time. What law did they break? Where is the law that you can’t name your baby certain words?

Of course she has a right to speak and name her son. I think the problem was having the Tshirt that said … I AM THE BOMB. But even that should not put someone in jail. If glorifying crime got jail time all the time, Hollywood would be in big trouble or France’s equivalent of Hollywood. Living in a silly world right now. I’d rather people be open about their feelings than lie in order to avoid repercussions.

That “nasty” 1st Amendment may irritate at times, but it is there for a reason. I would have no time for this woman as an American, in fact I most likely would exercise my rights (as memorialized in the 1st Amendment) to tell her exactly what I felt about her boneheaded decision, but I also would defend her right to be an idiot. Idiots keep the rest of us entertained.
