Colorado Sheriff Says Dems Are Using Salary Threats to Pressure Sheriffs to Support Gun Control Bills
One Colorado sheriff is claiming that Democrats are pressuring pro-gun sheriffs in the state with tactics he think border on extortion.
In a radio interview with KVOR on Saturday, El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa said he received an email last week with a threat to stop or stall pay raises to the state’s elected sheriffs if they don’t support Colorado’s pending gun control legislation.

The email, sent from the offices of the County Sheriffs of Colorado, “basically said, Dem. leadership is very upset with the sheriffs and their opposition to the gun control bills,” Maketa said.
He claimed it said the Democrats were threatening to delay legislation that would give the sheriffs a long-delayed pay raise if they continue to speak out against the new push for more gun control laws.

In the radio interview, Maketa strongly suggested that the pressure being placed on sheriffs organization bordered on extortion and should be investigated.
Maketa said some sheriffs in the organization were suggesting they compromise and support one proposed bill that would remove firearms and ammunition from people accused of domestic violence before ever being convicted of a crime.
“They’re infringing on your Fourth Amendment rights and Fifth Amendment rights,” Maketa said.
He quoted statistics saying firearms were used in less than 2 percent of crimes reported in his state. Maketa also said that if guns are confiscated, blunt objects and instruments like knives and scissors should be as well, since they are used in domestic violence cases more often than guns.

After the interview, Maketa took to his Facebook page to clarify that the email did not come directly from Colorado Democrats:
I want to make something very clear; I have not been directly threatened or coerced in any way nor would I tolerate any threat. A message delivered verbally to a representative of the Colorado Sheriff’s Association basically stated that the Senate Dems are very upset with the Colorado Sheriffs opposing the gun legislation proposed by the Senate Democrats. This message insinuated that this could negatively affect the salary bill which has been delayed and put off by the Democrats with the excuse that they would expect bipartisan support. I do believe the salary proposal is being held hostage and I believe that if they’re willing to send gun control measures without bipartisan support then they should be willing to take a stand as the majority leadership and follow a democrat-created commission’s recommendations.
It’s been seven years since the sheriffs have had a salary increase. Maketa’s post continued:
This inaction, and other vague insinuations, I take as quid pro quo. They are holding the salary of sheriffs hostage to gain compliance with gun control matters. I assure you that there is not a legislator on the dems’ side of the isle that will take ownership of this injustice, nor will they know where it came from, but their inaction will speak volumes. This salary proposal or recommendation has no bearing on me personally as it does not affect me since I am term limited.
Maketa did not immediately return a request for comment from TheBlaze.

Well he was close in his thought; there is a storm coming and we are in for some tough times. I live in Colorado and have had people tell me in places like Tohelluride that no one needs to hunt because you can go to a store and buy food.
A sad day it will be when inflation/disaster or a government limits food on shelves in stores. Many are buying freeze dried foods and preparing for an event. Our grand parents and great grand parents that lived though the depression had life skills. Today most of our skills are push a button and a pellet appears. I pray for peace but am prepared for the worse.

This is a form of terrorism. I have been saying for awhile, Government, Media and Corporate officials are participating in organized crime and providing the material support of terrorism (patriot act violations). Terrorism by definition is using violence to justify political changes but these actions fall under RICO Act and Patriot Act laws. Sandy hook could be classified as govt sponsored terrorism because they used an act of violence to pass laws.
Democrats and republicans are participating in criminal activity at the federal, state and local level. They should be arrested and tried in court. The fact is there is no more rule of law. Let the collapse happen and the rule of law will be reinstated.

Our city of Colorado Springs, is very hard core military (5 major bases), Pro Gun, Pro religion and God, unlike our radical Liberal dominated Cities of Boulder/Denver to north screwing up our mostly conservative state.

Ahhh..the eternal question for the Christian. Where is the line where Thou Shall Not Murder become Preserving your Nation?. When is it ok to rebel? Our founders rebelled against their legal governement and it was a blessing.
Would it be so today against a goverment that is swiftly becoming tyrannical and whose values are so jacked as to be beyond comprehension. A strong case could be made that the Bible is for the Christian enduring the travails of an evil government, a weaker but no less relevant case could be made that there is a time to fight back.
I smile when I read the “It’s time to wake up and fight back posts”, many on these forums have zero idea what that really means. Without real leadership, either Beck’s George Washington, or someone else, this is all talk and bluster.
The left has thrown down the gauntlet and are on the dance floor. The right is sitting on the side lines watching and bitching. Until someone gets out and dances and leads the way, it’s all a wash.

The gang of four, Jared Polis, Pat Stryker, Rutt Bridges, and Tim Gill, put many millions into the elections. (Soros is in there too) They designed attack adds against our strongest candidates, and made them look like they came from their primary opposition.They also brought lawsuits against Repub. funding and tied up all of our money. While they had funding from thousands of sources. They designed ‘faucet cities’ to throw in illegal votes where needed. I know that Stryker has moved on to other projects, And I’m sure the others are using the blueprint in other states. Be aware! They could operating in your state!

This is not extortion, this is a blatant act of Domestic Terrorism.
I call on all Sheriffs of Colorado, I call on the Sheriff’s Association to support Colorado Sheriffs, to make every and all elected Official of Colorado a Domestic Terrorist for intimidating or coercing a group of people for political purpose. They should then be arrested and tried as Domestic Terrorist.
When will you people wake up and stand up to the Threat that is upon us. This is not Venezuela, or Cuba, or North Korea. This is the United States and since when is it okay for Elected Officials to threaten our livelihood and the welfare of our children to achieve their Political Purpose?

It is tactical intimidation that dominates the lefts’ strategy to dominate the discourse. Christ warned us of these times and gave us the key to victory. Look at the way that the disgraceful county council woman Mary Rose Wilcox got her politically connected friends in the AZ AG’s office and state bar association to go after former Maricopa County attorney Andrew Thomas for his office investigating her and some of her associates for criminal activity.

Especially with “….or eventually remove you one way or another.” Connecticut has been actively working at removing any policing powers from their elected Sheriffs along with their deputies.

The Chiefs are appointed by mayors and city managers and most of those are serving at the pleasure of the appointing politician. Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Guns organization has been very busy lobbying (or bribing?) the majority of these appointees.
