Report: Hollywood Actress Ashley Judd Set to Announce Run for Senate Against Mitch McConnell

Actress Ashley Judd addresses the crowd during Tennesseans For Obama Benefit in Nashville, Tenn., Oct. 4, 2012 (Getty Images)

Ashley Judd has reportedly decided to challenge Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and is planning to announce her candidacy in the spring, according to the Huffington Post.

The Hollywood actress has informed “key advisers and political figures” in Kentucky of her intent to seek the Democratic nomination for the 2014 race and plans to announce in early May around the Kentucky Derby.

Reached by email by the Huffington Post, Judd didn’t offer a direct denial.

“I am not sure who is saying this stuff, but it is not I! I’d prefer as a fan of your journalism that you stay accurate and credible. We told everyone who called us yesterday these stories are fabrications,” Judd wrote, though didn’t answer directly which “stories” weren’t “accurate,” or whether she had in fact reached a decision, according to the site.

Judd — a staunch Obama supporter — said in January she was “taking a close look” at a possible Senate bid, quickly prompting a preemptive attack ad from Republican operative Karl Rove’s American Crossroads super PAC branding her a “Hollywood liberal.”

Continued: From HP Community Pundit HLL…

-McConnell wouldn’t have repealed DADT and supports DOMA.
-Judd praised President Obama at the DNC for embracing same-sex marriage rights.

-McConnell has a 37% approval & 55% disapproval from Kentuckians.
-Judd is within 3 points and 9 points of defeating McConnell in 2 separate polls and hasn’t yet announced she’ll run.

-Judd is a Democrat and there are more registered Democrats than GOPs in Kentucky. The Governor is a Democrat and the state House has a Democratic majority.

McConnell has been a Senator for 29 years yet there is not one single piece of legislation that bears his name.

That’s all we need…another dingbat who thinks they know better for us than we do.

I’m so sick of celebrities…so sick of professional lawyers…so sick of career politicians.

We need a new rule in this country: DO NOT VOTE FOR ANYONE WHO ACTIVELY WANTS THE OFFICE! The only reason people seek office is for their own power, own greed, own do-gooding purposes and own ego.

We need to recruit and coax the best from our communities to serve us. They go, serve ONE term, and return to their previous lives. And they do it because WE need them to, not because THEY want to.

I wish I drank. This has me all riled up already. I’d be two sheets to the wind by now (do people still say that?). Pass the OJ, honey, I need a double shot.

I find Ashley to be a total hypocrite. She ignorantly railed against Governor Sarah Palin for managing the wolf population in Alaska, yet she wears leather. A cow has to be slaughtered for it. She talks about making a child survives until age five, but she supports abortion. She talks about the problem of objectifying women’s body parts, but exposes her own. She talks about carbon footprints as she runs around the world promoting herself. Heck there is no global warming, but this bimbo believes in it.

Her family, as I mentioned, is full of dysfunction. Does this family have a drama coach and a PR person on the payroll? Ashley Judd’s acting career has been a failure too. It has not been the same since her Goodwill Train Tour – through the Midwest – with Bono commanding Americans – to make demands to their President – to provide more money to him – for his causes.

Surprisingly, there were protestors – Standing Up for America – at every train stop – for Ashley Judd and Bono’s Goodwill Train Tour – through the Midwest. By the time of the Third Train stop, Bono could not get off the train – bc people wanted to kick his a$$. The rest of the Goodwill Train tour was immediately cancelled.

Hopefully a conservative can mount a challenge to McConnell in the primaries, I sure he would be slammed by the democrats and established republicans, which of course would mean he is the right man for the job.
It’s amazing how willing people are to wear blinders to someone like McConnell, at least if Judd wins they’ll know who the enemy is.

Not sure if the DNC sees McConnell as vulnerable. We’ll see how much money they are willing to throw behind her. These liberal token candidates do one thing good for our side, they break the bank of the DNC. Let them keep pushing these celebrity candidates that will get destroyed in a debate, it only pushes their party towards bankruptcy faster.

He ranks right up there with John Boehner. Too bad someone does not primary him out. McConnell has been in the Senate far too long.

BTW Karl Rove’s ad stunk. I think it actually made her look better to the democrats. His rhetoric and methods no longer work; Romney is a good example. I wish the republicans would stop listening to him.

Dario Judd? Now that’s funny! I suspect he grew weary (among other things) of her far left politics. I did read where Dario came to believe that he was set-up for the marriage. He came to feel ambushed. Under the surface, I picked-up on her fear over Dan Wheldon’s widow. Dario had extended a lot of sympathy for her after Wheldon was killed and you could literally see the blood pour out of Judd’s eyes. Now she thinks that running for office is all first class hotels, limo’s, and podiums set-up with sycophant media hounds hanging on her every word. She’s in for a big surprise!
