Don’t ‘Belittle’ My Statements!: Have Fun Watching This Uncomfortable Budget Standoff Between Fox Anchor & Dem. Rep.
Fox News’ Bill Hemmer during an interview with Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) on Tuesday got into a pretty intense back-and-forth while discussing the specifics of the House Republicans’ 2014 budget proposal.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) claims the proposal isn’t simply about cutting spending. Rather, he explains, it focuses on lowering the rate of spending by approximately $5 trillion over the course of a decade. It would also create two tax brackets, thereby reducing the tax burden considerably for many Americans, and it would repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (i.e. “Obamacare”).
However, not too surprisingly, Democrats staunchly oppose Rep. Ryan’s latest proposal
During the “America’s Newsroom” interview, Hemmer went right for it and asked Rep. Van Hollen what’s wrong with Ryan’s proposed decreases in the rate of spending.
“The issue is how you achieve it, and making sure you achieve it in a way that doesn’t harm the very fragile recovery we’re having right now,” said the Maryland congressman, adding that Rep. Ryan’s approach is “lopsided and uncompromising.”
Rep. Van Hollen continued, promising that Democrats would present an alternative that would protect both the future of America’s children as well as commitments made to senior citizens.
Hemmer interjected, calling on Rep. Van Hollen to outline specific details of his party’s plan for the budget.
“It’s not talking point, it’s economics. [...] Don’t belittle statements by calling them so-called talking points. This affects people’s lives!” the congressman shot back.
Hemmer tried to move forward, citing quotes from Rep. Ryan, But Rep. Van Hollen continually cut him off.
From there, things became increasingly tense. Watch via the Washington Free Beacon:

Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)- “We have to make a judgment about what — how do we get growth with jobs? That’s where the revenue comes from … So, it isn’t as much a spending problem as it is a priorities [problem], and that is what the budget is, setting priorities.”
Tom Harken (D-IA) “First of all, I want to disagree with those who say we have a spending problem. Everyone keeps saying we have a spending problem, Is it a spending problem? No, it’s because we have a misallocation of capital, a misallocation of wealth.”
Stenny Hoyer (D-MD) “Does the country have a — the country has a paying-for problem, We haven’t paid for what we’ve bought.”

However, I believe it is too late. The dollar will crash, and after that we won’t have FREE money to give to the “poor.” I put it in scare quotes for a reason. Our “poor” are better off than 85% of the entire planet (at the poverty line).
But once the EBT cards stop, and welfare, and section 8, and the store shelves are bear, well we will either have a revolution, a civil war, or be attacked from without, or some combination thereof..

It’s not the seniors that are leeching the entitlement system most of them WORKED their whole life paying into the system. It the generational leech coomunity that the Republicans are for dailing back benefits. It’s the EBT sytem that’s being used for Mcdonald’s ,7/11s and gas station junk food. It’s the leeches in our society NOT THE SENIORS that will be facing toucher times. Not those who actual earned theirs. The democrats are lying POS and have destroyed the economy and work ethic of this nation by cretae entitlement for those who NEVER EARNED ENTITLEMENT.

Harry Reid only knows three words “Dead on arrival” which is his response to any responsible financial planning. Funny the liberals do not want to convert Social Security to private accounts as it is not a “sure thing” , yet they take the SAME money and convert in into a sure thing which loses money and AT BEST makes 2 per cent in the best days, the difference? They spend it and you don’t.

Posted on March 13, 2013 at 10:57amI think applying labels to all of this is rather pointless. This is all politics as usual.
Ryan’s budget is fine but it’s not useful at this point. To tell someone that is addicted to spending the way they ‘should’ be handling money is like telling a meth addict to ‘clean up’. It doesn’t do any good.
The only budget that will move forward is one that bleeds the entitlements to death while at the same time ‘reforming’ them on a voluntary basis to those that are willing to benefit from the reformation. Eventually you will be left with the people that actually want to achieve the American Dream (on the reformation path to prosperity) and those that just want to live on the dole. At that point you have a clear path of slowly killing the dole off and getting those people activated and achieving again.
The only people left on full ‘lifetime’ entitlements should be those incapable of being productive in society.
Ryan’s budget is a sledgehammer solution, we will never get it passed in the current environment. Not until the American People are having almost every dime taken from them to pay for the ‘have nots’. Until then, we need a scalpel.

On the other hand if you believe in the “unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”, they can only exist if the people “throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security”.

Posted on March 12, 2013 at 12:53pmWhy is it that conservatives need to search high and low for economists and scientists to support their philosophies and the majority of economists and scientists disprove their silliness? Oh wait, I remember. LOL

Posted on March 12, 2013 at 1:43pmSo when asked about cuts the dems and their pawns cite medicare and caid as if it is some moral vistory they can point to. It’s smoke and mirrors, the trillion in supposed cuts were just s’Reillyhifted to the ACA, which costs 3 to 6 trillion. Replacing 1 trillion with 3 to 6 trillion is not a cut.
Idiots in the media (O’Rielly for one) that fail to point this out are the problem.

Posted on March 12, 2013 at 1:05pmHaven’t seen a budget from the Senate democrats since April 2009. Obama’s last “budget” was voted against UNANIMOUSLY in both houses of congress. Obama lost.

Posted on March 12, 2013 at 1:08pmBALDINBEAGLE, At least Ryan turned in a budget proposal. That’s more than Obammy knows how to do. Obama doesn’t win, he kicks, screams, pouts, lies and acts like a spoiled brat until he gets his way. It’s one of the things libs do best.

Posted on March 12, 2013 at 1:17pmIf MSM would actually be real journalists and reported the truth instead of dropping to their knees and worshipping Obama and being his parrot repeating what he says then maybe he wouldn’t “win” every time because people would know what is really going on.
However, I’m sure there will still be a lot that would still support him because they want to be a slave and told what to do instead of being responsible and be an adult.

Posted on March 12, 2013 at 1:24pmSTEALHENS…not sure if you noticed but Obama lost the “sequester” battle. The sky didn’t fall.
Oh and why do you think he’s campaigning so hard rather than governing? Because he lost the house in 2010 and it’s still grating on him. Sometimes it’s worth still having Obama in office knowing he’s so visably frustrated at the GOP house..watching Harry Reid shelve bill after bill, budget after budget. Oh by the way..where’s the Senate budget? I miss those since Obama took office in 2009.

Posted on March 12, 2013 at 1:27pmThat little bean counter Paul Ryan will win some day. I mean after all Baldy, you crapped in your pants over and over until what, 3 or 4 or 5 years of age when YOUR MOMMA took you out of diapers? Didn’t it take you awhile to stop crapping your pants? I mean, after YOUR MOMMA took you out of your diapers? I am only supposed that NOW you are toilet trained, yes? That is only a guess. On my part. Could be wrong though. I think I saw a BIG TROLL on “ELF” in a diaper…so…hmmmm
