Fed-Up Texas Restaurant Owner and Repeat Burglary Victim Fatally Shoots Suspected Robber
After three recent break-ins at his restaurant in Edinburg, Texas, the fed-up owner of Pumpjack Mexican Restaurant began staying inside his business overnight to personally defend his property from intruders.
At around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, history again repeated itself. The business owner shot and killed a suspected burglar who forced his way into the restaurant. Police have identified the suspect as 46-year-old Gibert Medina, Jr., according to KGBT-TV.
Medina was confronted by the restaurant owner and, following a confrontation, was shot in the torso, according to police. At least three shots were fired.
Officials also confirmed that the Pumpjack Mexican Restaurant had been broken into three separate times in recent weeks, with criminals making off with TVs and cash.
Police have not identified the restaurant owner, but no criminal charges have been filed in the case. Texas’ “castle law” was extended from a person’s home to their workplace in 2007, allowing workers to use deadly force if they feel they are in danger.
Lt. Oscar Treviño, an Edinburg police spokesman, told The Monitor that the case has been turned over to the Hidalgo County District Attorney for review.

If the government is doing its job, it will stay out of our lives, out of our homes and families and out of our businesses. It’s not the job of government to keep us safe 24/7. We must take the responsibility into our own hands—where it belongs. Otherwise, these kinds of incidents will almost always have a negative and very sad outcome.

it wasn’t very sporting to repeatedly burgle the restaurant, putting the man’s livliehood at risk.
when it comes time for guns and knives, ‘sporting’ isn’t in the equation.
Survival is the name of the game, and anyone who thinks the owner wasn’t afraid… did not feel at risk as it happened again, has never walked a dark alley, or been alone on a street at night when an unknown group comes round the corner.
I hope he gets support… stepping through that particular looking glass will leave him forever changed.

Posted on March 12, 2013 at 10:17pmWhen is somebody going to do a through research project on the reason a 46 year old wants to rob a restaurant for pocket change and trinkets? My theory is that it directly ties to the economy and lack of opportunity forcing people to do stupid things. The federal government has choked off oil production (as evidenced by the intimidation e-mails sent out from the EPA) and thus put many people into starving status. I would even go as far to say the enviro “community” has blood on their hands for creating our current rash of violence. If the left wants to play in dire terms and emergency situations, I might as well counter with an even more dire one. If they (the left) continue to choke our nation’s great ability to be energy rich and bring business back home, they will be responsible for every situation such as this.

Posted on March 13, 2013 at 3:30am@olef. You are getting warmer….But the BIG picture is very frightening. There is maasive mounts of untapped oil iand natural gas in the US mainland and coasts, and Alaska. Everybody could be rich. How is it that with only 1/5 of the population of China or India, the US has much more land and wealth, but so many of our people dont own land or a home? More than half of the land in the US doesn’t even have no one in it because our country s so young. USA could have and should have been energy independent long ago. The “architects” of the USAs recent economic decline are trying to take land and resource ownership rights by making RE prices way too high, or adjustable loans that should never be allowed to be negative amortized. Look at what the housing bubble gve us,, foreclosures, bankruptcies etc. It’s getting harder to afford land and real estate. Here’s the big picture. America is being invaded by illegal European immigrants who are very wealthy(not all). With the Euro still being more valuable than the dollar, these Europeans(and other foreigners) have been snapping up massive amounts of RE nationwide. These foreigners(like Piers Morgan) on staying in the US under the amnesty umbrella. These socialists are funding politicians and political movements inside the US. And the globalist infiltraitors inside our govt have slowly legislated their way to bringing the US closer to European style governing ideas. Notice all these Brits(music) flooding the US lately too?

He went door to door and busted his ****, and built up a nice little business on his own terms. If a 12 year old can do it, anyone else who wants to can do it as well. This used to be how we Americans rolled, remember? The left and our “leader” can be depressed all they want- Those who wish to may have a life all they want… Pick one and live with it.
