New Mexico Puppy Found Shot With Crossbow…and Survives

A puppy in Durango, Colo., is recovering at the local humane society after it was shot by a crossbow. And although vets expect the 3-month-old will be fine as it continues to grow, they’ve made the incident a part of the pup’s life forever by naming it “Bow.”

According to CBS Local-Denver (KCNC-TV), the Jack Russell/Shepherd mix was shot and brought to the animal shelter in Farmington, New Mexico, where the arrow was also removed. CBS also reported that police have not found any information as to how the puppy was shot in the first place, but they are still investigating the case.

Watch KCNC-TV’s report:

Here’s more on what the La Plata County Humane Society wrote on its website about Bow:

Someone had called the local Animal Protection Office to report about a puppy that looked injured. Bow eventually made his way to the Farmington Animal Shelter where they surgically removed the crossbow bolt. He was put into a foster home to rehabilitate his leg and to socialize him since he was traumatized by the incident.

“Once I heard about Bow I knew it’d be an easy adoption and we also want to help out the Farmington Shelter as much as we can since they’re always full” Chris Nelson, the director of animal services at LPCHS, said in a statement.

And find a home he did. The Denver Post reported that Bow had been adopted by a family Friday.

History, and education shows us those who hurt animals will hurt people. Those sick individuals just can’t help themselves. Its the same sick state of mind of some people who feel they have to control others , you know the serial killers, liberals, democrats and progressives. They are all sick sick people.

NO SORRY, Who ever did this to the puppy needs to found and prosecuted by the rightful upstanding citizens of a just and moral community.

At Black Ops Gear our philosophy is simple. We believe in the greatness of America. We believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We believe that every law abiding citizen has the unalienable right to own a gun and to defend his life and the lives of those around him. We believe in hanging scoundrels, scallywags, and horse thieves.

We support our American soldiers, sailors, airmen, guardsmen, Marines and first responders for fighting terrorists worldwide and letting us sleep safer tonight, while they do not.

For this we make no apologies.

While I am not a BIG fan of Dogs, I do like animals… I am glad this dog is okay, and I hope it’s trauma doesn’t make it a skidish and defensive dog… As those types of dogs are the ones that bite out of fear in self-defense and end up getting put down for biting the little turd child that was tormenting it…

If this was an accident, I am glad the dog is okay, if it was on purpose, than I hope that the dog can recover and by some grace of God get the chance at his revenge on the moron who did it…

I doubt that would happen, but hey, one can always hope…

I watch animal cops all the time. This was not, as horrible as it seems, the worst thing that people have done to a puppy. Imbedded collars, fighting dogs, neglect, etc.

It might have been an accident. I hope it was. I believe humans are infinitely more valuable than animals, but if someone shot that puppy on purpose; that person needs to be put down before they cause any more harm.

Right on and in my neighborhood. I hear they have armed guards at the WalMart in Gallup, NM now. The reservation is melting down. Health care in turmoil (and out of money). The people are mostly unhealthy and sick. Virtually anything (negative) is possible here. Real cute doggie tho….but I wish they wouldn’t have named him ‘Bow’. You know what I mean.

May as well nip this in the bud- it was NOT done by a hunter- this is the act of a criminal….

Unless the bolt was fired at a legal game animal, in season, missing the target, and somehow hitting a puppy……………..who just so happened to be in the area…………….seems doubtful.

Then again, anything is possible. An Amish man in Ohio was cleaning his muzzleloader and accidentally discharge the ball (which barrel he thought was empty) and it hit a woman a mile away and killed her- a pure accident.

Just making clear though that hunters do not shoot pets. Criminals do

Seems very doubtful, a game hunter would have known the puppy was there. “Be aware of your target and what is beyond it.”

The local authorities should expend every resource to find whoever did this.

Once they find them, they should shove that arrow right up the offender’s ass. SIDEWAYS, repeatedly and with great vigor.

Probably one of those salt-of-the-earth “native Americans” who abuse animals for fun. Oh wait, most of you only have the mythos of the “Noble Savage” to go on, so I’ll take that back as it’ll seem purely racist to you.

For those of you who have dealt with one of our nobility, you know what I’m talking about.
