University to Hold Controversial ‘White Privilege Conference’ — Watch the Event’s Stunning Promo Video

The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS) is offering students up to four college credits if they attend the public university’s 14th annual “White Privilege Conference,” Campus Reform reports.

The event, which is organized by UCCS, will focus on teaching whites that they are born with an inherent privilege over other races. A stunning promotional video for the event provides an idea of what the White Privilege Conference is all about.

“I am privileged,” reads black text on an all white background. “I can if I wish arrange to be around people of my race most of the time.”

The video continues:

“I can go shopping fairly assured I won’t be followed or harassed.”

“When I’m told about our national heritage or about ‘civilization’ I am shows that people of my color made it what it is.”

[…]

“I can, whether I use checks, credit cards or cash, count on my skin color not to work against my appearing financially reliable.”

“I don’t have to educate my children to be aware of systemic racism for their own daily protection.”

[...]

“I can choose blemish cover or bandages in ‘flesh’ color and have them more or less match my skin.”

“I cannot be blind to the invisible system of privilege I am a part of,” the video concludes.

Students will receive one college credit for each day of the three day conference that they attend if they write a brief journal entry summarizing what they learned, according to an online syllabus on the UCCS website.

The UCCS sociology professor in charge of organizing the conference, Dr. Abby Ferber, has authored several books, including “White Man Falling: Race, Gender and White Supremacy.”

“According to the conference’s website, the credit can be attained by any student in attendance and is “widely transferable” to other academic institutions,” The Leadership Institute’s Campus Reform notes.

The University of Michigan and the University of Minnesota are among the four other institutions helping sponsor the controversial conference, which is set to take place in Seattle on April 10-13. Seattle is roughly 1,300 miles from Colorado Springs, Colo.

Just as a side note, the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs is the same university that sparked controversy over its tips for women who are targeted by a rapist. These tips included urinating and vomiting to deter an attacker.

After much ridicule, the school removed the list from its website, but given the nature of the Internet it will never be truly deleted. Here’s the full list:

1. Be realistic about your ability to protect yourself.
2. Your instinct may be to scream, go ahead! It may startle your attacker and give you an opportunity to run away.
3. Kick off your shoes if you have time and can’t run in them.
4. Don’t take time to look back; just get away.
5. If your life is in danger, passive resistance may be your best defense.
6. Tell your attacker that you have a disease or are menstruating.
7. Vomiting or urinating may also convince the attacker to leave you alone.
8. Yelling, hitting or biting may give you a chance to escape, do it!
9. Understand that some actions on your part might lead to more harm.
10. Remember, every emergency situation is different. Only you can decide which action is most appropriate.

      White privilege is a misnomer. White or European Americans are successful because they are generally intelligent, studious, industrious individuals. It doesn’t take long to be around minorities to see why they don’t get ahead. Baggy pants, hat on sideways, wife beater. Many minorities bring their own stereotypes upon themselves. Many don’t want to work and they make that clear. This false story that whites are successful due to a hidden privilege is just “chosen people” propaganda in academia–never mind that it’s racist to make such a statement about any other race, but attacking European Americans is totally fair game.

I guess that it is a privilege to have been raised by a father who was a real MAN that worked hard and took care of his family. I REFUSE to feel ashamed about being white…ashamed that my ancestors (who, coincidentally are also white) came to this country and WORKED HARD and were SUCCESSFUL and made something for themselves without relying on HANDOUTS from the government or having anything handed to them that they did not earn! SUCCESS has absolutely **** to do with your skin color, it has everything to do with your attitude, your determination, your desire to make a better life for yourself and your family. I am fed up with all the whining and crying and ******* and moaning by people of ANY color that they can’t be successful and have everything they want. Well, get over it. You ain’t going to get everything you want regardless of whether it is handouts or working your ass off. That’s just life… that is what is known as a GOAL, an INCENTIVE to do better! If your life isn’t giving you everything you want, get off your dead ass, put down the crack pipe and the xbox controller and go get an education, get a job, WORK for it! The education system has been dumbed down so much even you can get passing grades and get a real job with your dumbed down diploma or degree. Of course, then there is the issue of CSCOPE..so you’re not being taught real history, or real anything for that matter.. they are teaching socialism and the race monger versions of history which will only prolong the whole race thing.       I’m going to be very frank about something and tell you why I would never hire a black person. After graduate school I worked with a couple of black people at a clinic, who were lazy, and when confronted by their supervisor they cried “discrimination” – Strike one. My stepfather once had about 60 black people working for him when he was over a transportation project in Dallas and, while he was in the hospital being treated for cancer, they filed a lawsuit against him for discrimination, even though that man was probably the fairest person I’ve ever known – Strike two. The leaders these people idolize (e.g., Barack Obama, Maxine Waters, Frederica Wilson, Sheila Lee Jackson, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Hank Johnson, etc.) are idiots who hate America – Strike three.

      Does the fact that I would never hire black people because I don’t want to get sued for discrimination when I have to fire them for being lazy, or because I don’t want anti-American traitors in my company, make me a racist? I can honestly say I couldn’t care less if it does.

      I agree with both of you. I have never felt ashamed of being white or felt bad because of it. I don’t really know why this is so controversial. They have “black history” month every month of the year. The have marches and magazines (ebony), and tv channels (BET), special scholarships. And we’re supposed to feel bad because WE feel privileged??? Screw that! I’m proud that I don’t need special help from anyone including the government to succeed. I’m strong enough and smart enough to do it on my own. If we came out with an Ivory Magazine, or WET channel there would be riots. The fact that we haven’t done this in response to THEIR bigotry shows just who is more civilized. Affirmative action?? Don’t even get me started, I don’t know how anyone can have any pride knowing the only way they got something was because someone had to meet a quota. Am I proud to be white?     I do not know who is in charge of this form of education but it is ridiculous. I can’t remember a time I applied for a credit card and they said. “Hey no sweat – your white.     I refuse to buy into the notion that anyone should feel shame about the pigment or lack of pigment in their skin.

    They left out one suggestion for a woman targeted by a rapist. If all else fails, use any means available to try to kill your attacker. If you have a gun, don’t try to “wing” your attacker. Aim dead center.

    The way these fools worry about the rights of rapists and muggers, makes you wonder what these guys might be up to after dark.
