TRENTON, N.J. (TheBlaze/AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is being asked to apologize for referring to the first black female leader of the state Assembly by race and gender, and not by name, during a meeting at a church.
Christie told an audience Tuesday an “African-American female speaker of the Assembly” is blocking a vote on a school voucher bill that would let children in failing districts attend classes elsewhere.
Democratic Speaker Sheila Oliver later accused the Republican governor of injecting race into the discussion on education.
On Thursday, the church’s pastor asked Christie to apologize. He says the governor disrespected the speaker and missed a chance to unite the community.
A Christie spokesman says the governor’s comments were misinterpreted.
The dust-up comes as Christie courts blacks and Latinos for his November re-election bid.
Should Christie have to apologize for referring to the first black female leader of the state Assembly as an “African-American?”

Mar. 15, 2013 at 6:03amIt is because Republicas refuse to point out the WHOLE story on who the party with the REAL racist history and policy line has historically been that they are unsuccessful in making points like this. They can’t assume that most of their audience understands the relevance of a statement like this because the back story has been buried by a massive educational cover up and Republicans continue to allow the environment for stone throwing.
To tell the honest history is to help each individual to get on the same page. The AMERICAN page.

Mar. 15, 2013 at 7:44amtruth… The truth is that they don’t want to hear it. Much like a little child being told something they don’t want to hear they cover their ears and say “na na na na” so they can’t hear. They don’t want to be told how the dems have historically been the racists or that planned parent was started to wipe out the black race, not to mention any other non white and the poor. More importantly, they don’t care. When confronted with the evidence that they can’t refute they just don’t care. They rationalize and justify to make everything ok so they can keep living their lie of a life.

Mar. 14, 2013 at 11:44pmChris Christie wanted to make sure that everyone knew that it was a Black woman who was denying Black children a chance to get a better education. President Obama stopped the voucher program in Washington, DC in favor of the public school unions.
Never mind poor Black children. You will learn all the important “stuff” in public schools. Things like homosexuality is normal and natural, and anyone can be any gender they want to be. Oops, almost forgot, you’ll also learn that Islam is the religion of peace. Well, good luck with your public school education.

Mar. 14, 2013 at 11:51pmMy husband and I attended a local music festival summer of 2010 and had the opportunity to sit right in front of the stage whilst Richie Havens played. He spoke a few words and started to go to some kind of “dream fulfilled” line. My husband and I grunted – respectfully – raised our eybrows as in, Really? To which he clearly expressed disappointment in Obama, and said, “no, I guess not really…” It was quite a moment.

Mar. 15, 2013 at 1:06amWe had a problem with a neighbors kid and my daughter. So we went over to talk it out. The mom went on and on about how they were African-American, they weren’t Black. My daughter was in tears the whole time and I finally figured out it was about power. They have to control the image as in African slave descendant, therefore deserving a special status and probably deserving reparations. This was in an upper middle class neighborhood.
I did some research after this and found that in no other country are there any hyphenated Africans, only in America. In the rest of the world they self identify as Black, so who’s the racist?

Mar. 14, 2013 at 10:47pmChristy, the only potential Republican candidate with a prayer of crossover vote, brought the house down at CPAC with his speech. Oh wait, he wasn’t invited. Instead they invited Trump to speak.
I think that pretty much tells the entire story for the Republican party. CPAC was looking for speakers, and they chose Trump, and didn’t even invite Christie. Yep. No Christie, yes Trump. And Palin. And West.
Seriously, it’s funny the people the right think liberal are “afraid of.” As a confirmed Democrat and liberal, I can tell you that there is no one I’d rather see representing Republicans the troika of Trump, West and Palin.
Do you know when Democrats will be afraid? When the right dumps those guys and gets more mainstream people – RINOs – representing them.
