TRENTON, N.J. (TheBlaze/AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is being asked to apologize for referring to the first black female leader of the state Assembly by race and gender, and not by name, during a meeting at a church.

Christie told an audience Tuesday an “African-American female speaker of the Assembly” is blocking a vote on a school voucher bill that would let children in failing districts attend classes elsewhere.

Democratic Speaker Sheila Oliver later accused the Republican governor of injecting race into the discussion on education.

On Thursday, the church’s pastor asked Christie to apologize. He says the governor disrespected the speaker and missed a chance to unite the community.

A Christie spokesman says the governor’s comments were misinterpreted.

The dust-up comes as Christie courts blacks and Latinos for his November re-election bid.

Should Christie have to apologize for referring to the first black female leader of the state Assembly as an “African-American?”

Christie is a creature of the media. He was created to fool conservatives. He is all style and no substance. I do wish some real conservative had that style but the press would Palin them. All a big show folks bought and paid for by the people who use the government to give them special advantage intne game of life.

The reason her race is relevant is that she is blocking the very thing that would start some African-American kids to get on the path out of the ghetto. Black political hacks love to blame “racism” and “slavery” for the lack of success African Americans experience, but let’s look at the people who are really throwing obstacles in the way, shall we?

Don’t care about the turncoat, hypocrite black democrats, because they are amost all like that. Christy should apologize for telling people he is conservative, and his fawning, boot licking support and praise of the traitor oblameo.

What a country, due to PC we can no longer describe a female, afro-American as a female afro-American. I wonder what reaction he would have stirred up by describing her as a female American?

Should he apologize? Only if she is from Africa. Most Black people are not immigrants from Africa and should not be referred to as “African American”, they are Black people. There are many white people in Africa, when they immigrate to the USA are they “African American”, yes.

Christie doesn`t need to apologize for anything. The racist politically correct Sheila Oliver got her panties in a wad because Christie identified her race as black. If you identify blacks by their race, they think it`s racist.
And you blacks are not African Americans. Were you born in Africa?

She called Christie OBESE at one time. She did NOT call him by his Name. But I suppose that’s okay since she’s BLACK!

Makes no difference if they are destroying others and makes no difference if they damage this country and citizens of USA. NOOOOOOOOOOO ….they MUST WIN at any cost! Who do they imitate? Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. Who do they imitate? Do you think they imitate GOD? Think about it.

Pastor to Christie, you can only use race and gender when it’s convenient for us.
Christie you are a RINO, but at least you’re a loud one! NJ unfortunately will never be a red state in my life time. My exodus is in the planning stage, but where to go is the challenge.

El Pastor should take his addle-pated argument to sites like AOL’s insipid HUFFINGTON POST and comical PATCH for constantly referring to people in their articles by ethnicity. That aside, El Pastor himself should apologize for spreading false doctrine.

I would ask the lady if she is ashamed of being black? A person does not choose the color of their skin, nor is God a respecter of persons.
Christie, rhino, did not say anything racial or disrecptful. He stated facts and did not use her name which was in good taste as he did not make it personal, just got the fact out what was being done with a blocking of the vote.
It must be an effort in the black communiity to keep playing the race card as the lies have worked so well for decades in the well oiled cottage industry of race politics in the mega power grab of the Progressive hard core socialists that want to destroy America and turn her into warped shadow of her former self. Say it ain’t so Nancy!

It is getting to the point that and no matter what or how you say it there are so many medias , churches , religions and other crack pot organizations that do the “Gothca” just like the universal church lady in Montana did a few weeks ago
I do not like Christie anymore , but then what do expect from a politician in the first place? He got to the feeding through in first place (and looks like it). Just as so many of his colleagues do and will fight off anybody else no matter what.

Kinda ironic, or perhaps not. This is a common tactic used by progressive’s and democrats, they attack demographics they feel Democrats own, such as women and black people. Christy felt he could bribe liberal voters with this piece of liberal meat. She showed him he was wrong, and that’s what really pissed him off.

Not enough information. Was he speaking in a predominately Black Church about issues the Black community wants to discuss? If so, then it is entirely responsible to interject race. That is why he was invited, to hear their concerns as BLACK PEOPLE!

This is how you get rid of the lie that keeping Blacks in failing schools is some kind of a White plot to keep blacks down and limit their choice and freedom. Black legislators are voting against your wishes!!!

If he was talking in a church with people in white sheets and hoods as members, then we can talk. But I doubt the pastor would ask him to apologize.

“New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is being asked to apologize for referring to the first black female leader of the state Assembly by race and gender, and not by name, during a meeting at a church.”

A good follow-up question would be, should Jason Howerton, the writer of the article, need to apologize for only referring to the “victim” by race and gender, and not by name.
