Guess Which Big Time MSNBC Host Just Parted With Their Time Slot…

Ed Schultz Moves Time Slots to WeekendsEd Schultz, the boisterous and bombastic MSNBC host, has parted with his lucrative 8pm time slot on the left-leaning networks. Instead, his show will now air on weekends (two hours on both Saturday and Sunday).

Schultz announced the move on his Wednesday show, saying he “volunteered.” But even the Huffington Post isn’t buying it: “Schultz presented the move as one he volunteered for, though previous reports have suggested that MSNBC was looking to replace him.”

In fact, the New York Times suggested last fall that Schultz’s shows was at risk of being moved in favor of some fresh blood — that according to NBC sources.

“I raised my hand for this assignment for a number of personal and professional reasons,” Schultz contended on Wednesday. “My fight on ‘The Ed Show’ has been for the workers and the middle class. This new time slot will give me the opportunity to produce and focus on stories that I care about and I know are important terribly to American families and American workers.”

“I’m going to be here at MSNBC for a long time,” he assured. “I’m not going anywhere.”

As for the reason for the change, HuffPo suggests it’s not necessarily numbers, as the host was the second highest-rated in February. Rather, it might be that the network is tiring of his antics:

The change may be one of tone rather than numbers. Schultz’s ratings have been solid — he was the second-highest-rated host on the network in February — but his barnstorming, Midwestern, labor-friendly brand of populist liberalism has come to look more and more at odds with the increasingly elite and wonkish tone taking hold on the rest of MSNBC. The network has spent its last year grooming hosts like Chris Hayes, Melissa Harris-Perry and Ezra Klein, all of whom bring a far different approach to their work than Schultz.

“It’s an exciting time for MSNBC, and I’m looking forward to having Ed’s powerful voice on our network for a long time,” NBC president Phil Griffin said despite the speculation.

Thursday will be Schultz’s last weekday show. The weekend assignment will start in April. No replacement has been named.

Lot of house cleaning in media companies since the end of the election. We will know what it means in 2 to 4 years. That is after the midterms & next presidential elections. While we are fighting it out in the media, blogosphere, political arena in this neck of the woods, in other parts of the world other dramas are unfolding. Right now for the most part the left & our own lefty trolls are crowing. Well, karma is a biatch and we will see.

Which reminds me, I got to check to me foreign exchange reserves. It is one of the tea leaves I read.
There is no gainsaying that. It is or it is not, no spinning it.

Don’t know anything about Ed Schultz except he ranted and raved and yelled and screamed and smeared constantly. It’s been years since I’ve heard him (except on Blaze) it was years ago when I picked him up on radio (only by accident) because in the area I was in, he was about all I could get on my car radio. Didn’t know who he was, but the moment I’d recognize his voice, off went the radio.
I suspect, his ratings were so low, they were getting ready to dump him. Some people may like listening to the yelling & screaming and lies and distortions, but I won’t listen to this stuff, ever.
NO BODY yells and screams constantly and expects me to support him or her. I like calm but will allow once in a while short rant & rave. Get wise schultz, or get lost.

Nothing like selective interpretation. When an MSNBC host moves it must be because they are being replaced, but when GB leaves Fox it is because he is moving on to bigger and better things, despite the evidence.

Poor Poor JRook, Glenn did move on to better things. He has created his own Media Empire. He has a business that is ever expanding. From Talk Radio, To Live Stream Video, To Clothes lines, To the popular The Blaze – which you hang around all the time adding to the popularity, To his own Cable channel that is starting to gain traction into the large networks, He is constantly hiring more people…..How many people have you and Special Ed hired Rook?

He is no longer on from 5:00 to 6:00 at Fox, but on 24/7. Sorry, you and Special Ed have lost. As Beck said after not renewing his contract with Fox – Liberals are going to wish he was back on Fox at just 5-6pm.

Simple philosophy…… It’s all about money! Big Ed forgot two things. MSNBC is loosing their conservative base, which means lost revenue. And, he forgot whom he worked for!

Always, a recipe for termination. But, he had a Contract! So what, he’s essentially, gone.

I”m guessing Comcast is trying to clean up MSBNC’s image a little. Fat Eddie is particularly loud and obnoxious so he’s being moved to a time slot that doesn’t have a great audience. Keith Olberman’s nephew- Ralph Maddow- may “dominate” her time slot within MSNBC but she’s got a tiny audience compared to Fox for the same timeslot. In fact, Fox outrates both CNN and MSBNC combined for the prized time slots.
My guess is Larry O’Donnell is next on the hitlist if he doesn’t control himself..like the time he challenged Tagg Romney to a fight during his variety hour.

Oh Ed, Ed, Ed, Ed, Why make yourself look even more foolish by telling the world you “Volunteered” for only two shows on the weekend. Why not just tell the truth. MSNBC made you choose between the weekend or nothing and you “Volunteered” to keep your job.

Ed, why did you not just resign and start your own Web-Based programming. You could launch a popular Web News Site, Live Stream your shows, do Talk Radio, Start a clothing company “Made In The USA”, Put it all together under one privately owned company and possibly call it Mercury One.

Oh that is right Glenn Beck beat you too it. Besides ED, you cannot make it on your own. You have to belong to a subsidized joke of an outlet or end up like Keith Olbermann – who is still unemployed and has not made it on his own either. You two loved to criticize Beck, but look at you two. You two would not surprise anyone to find out you live at home with your moms.

In your dreams. The American people don’t need to wake up. They’ve awake. The ones who need to wake up are the idiot Conservatives. We’re stuck in this us\them mentality like we’re ******* liberals. We’re spreading this idiocy that we all have to think alike, as if we’re robots of the left, on everything. If “my guy” doesn’t get the nomination, I don’t vote or I vote for an imbecil with ZERO chances to win. We’re not in it to win. We’re in it to prove a point – for some sort of g-d damn principle – that makes us feel like we’re better than everyone else. No one….not anyone…can do it on their own. Neither can we. Either we work together whether we agree on everything or not, or start getting used to calling Hillary President. At this point, even she would be a breath of fresh air. At least she’s not totally incompetent.
