Hot Mic! Who Was Caught Mocking Ted Cruz During His Senate Constitution Remarks?

Republican Senator Ted Cruz must have ruffled a few feathers Thursday morning when he questioned Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s “assault weapons” ban, because during his closing remarks before the Senate Judiciary Committee, someone could be heard on a hot mic mocking his speech — on two occasions.

“My fourth and final point is that the Constitution, in my opinion, should be the touchstone of everything we do,” said Sen. Cruz. “I would point out that every one of us takes an oath to defend the constitution.”

“Thank you for the lecture,” someone can be heard muttering under their breath [at about the 20 second mark]:

Later, while driving home his point, Sen. Cruz said this:

In my view, the Constitution is particularly important when the Bill of Rights is unpopular. That was the entire purpose of the Bill of Rights! When our rights are popular, we don’t need the Constitution.

“I’m tired of these condescending…” seemingly the same person can heard saying, trailing off [at about the 22 second mark]:

As of this writing, it’s unclear who was criticizing Cruz.

However, the voice does sound male and it appears likely it was a senator. Additionally, given a) Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy’s impatience with Sen. Cruz’ speech (the Democrat senator cuts off Cruz toward the end to remind him that he hasn’t been in the Senate for very long) and b) the fact that it’s not uncommon for the chairman’s microphone to be left on, it’s not unlikely Leahy could be the culprit.

What’s the first thing the bad guy says to his abducted victim? “Stay quiet!” Why? Because that’s the only way the bad guy can get away with his crime.

So what if Cruz is brand new to the Senate. He’s got every right, heck, it’s his duty, to remind his fellow senators when they stray off the path set forth in the constitution.

Finally, who’s really being condescending when someone calls someone else condescending? For the love of free humanity, please please stay strong Senator Cruz no matter how many entitled feathers you ruffle.

In my little microcosm world of politics, very local, this was the tactic used in 2010 with the election of a tea party candidate: mockery of his lack of experience, snickering, face making, out and out shouts of “You don’t know what you’re doing,” or “When you’re here as long as I have been blah blah blah…”
It seems clear that they’re a little worried, I hope so. Hoping for no more politics as usual.

What they are hoping for is an effective disarmament of the American people before the manufactured Federal Reserve collapse of the economy.

Yes, they are worried because they are effectively “all in” with their strategy.

Personally, I think the current administration has severely underestimated the resolve of the American people willing to fight back.

Perhaps we need to remind Senator Leahy that, while “new” to the Senate, Senator Cruz was : Solicitor General of Texas 2003-2008; while a law partner, he was a U.S. Supreme and Nat’l. Appellate Court litigator; Director of the office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission; Assoc. Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. D.O.J.; Adjunct Prof. of Law at University of TX School of Law Austin 2004-2009 taught US Supreme Court litigation; law clerk to Wm. Rehnquist, Chief Justice of the United States – perhaps Leahy and others should pay attention.

When you are talking about shredding the constitution and bill of rights you need to be reminded what it means. Remember Ted Cruz was Solicitor General for Texas and argued in front of the Supreme Court at least twice.
The “you are new” comment screams for term limits. This guy isn’t fresh out of college or right off the farm.

@ TSUNAMI_22 – There are several factors in play here. Firstly, the order of things. The economy right now is all but crashed, and then there after, they want to come after guns, all the while folks who own them are either planning future hunting trips to feed their families, or learning how to do so.

Secondly, I am not rich, so there is a chance you can tell me how horrible the rich are and how much it is their fault I am where I am, and maybe…just maybe, I will believe you because I don’t know, but…if I own a gun, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt the only individual that will ever find out is one meaning me harm, not innocent children or whatever.

The truth is, our country is vastly stronger than was anticipated by these…people…By now, they had thought it would have already been done, but it is still hanging in there, and only because we still believe. The second conservatives stop caring, and throw in the towel, walk away form their jobs and business to live off of the land, free phones and all the rest of it go away.

oath of office! An oath is indivisible, it cannot be in part true and in part false.
It is my assertion that most, if not all of these senators are GUILTY of perjury of oath of office and conspiracy!!
18 U.S.C. 1621 in any declaration, certificate, verification, or statement under penalty of perjury, willfully subscribes as true any material matter which he does not believe to be true; is guilty of perjury and shall, except as otherwise expressly provided by law, be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both. This section is applicable whether the statement or subscription is made within or without the United States.
The false statement statute, 18 U.S.C. 1001, is closely akin to the perjury statutes. It outlaws false
statements in any matter within the jurisdiction of a federal agency or department, a kind of
      perjury with oath prohibition.
A false declaration in the form established by 26 USC 1746 can result in federal perjury charges.

      MISPRISION. (1) a contempt against the sovereign, the government, or the courts of justice, including not only contempts of court, properly so called, but also all forms of seditious or disloyal conduct and leze-majesty;

@Turkey….About that pecking order you speak of and having to kiss feathered azzes on the way up to the vaulted position enjoyed by old timers in gov…I raise chickens, turkeys, all kinds of fowl and while the senior hens usually are at the top of the pecking order, it really all depends on how tough the new girl is when introduced to the flock. Quite often the younger will give way to the older, but if the younger is of a mind not to be bossed around and can prove how tough she is, she takes the place of the senior hen. In other words, it all depends of how much you want to be heard and how hard you are willing to fight for your cluck (voice in this case) to be heard.

I have to agree with Desert Speaks, there is a matter of law to be considered. Our rights are not up for grabs by the politician with the biggest mouth or who thinks they have a majority. Our rights do not belong to the government or any social group, they belong to us individually, not collectively and they are not dependent upon popularity; nor are they subject to the designs of social engineering. Government is subordinate to the unalienable rights enumerated in our declaration, constitution, and bill of rights. Whether a politician or group are willing or not to recognize that our natural rights are granted by God is not relevant, our nation IS founded upon these principles. For those politicians who are engaged in making policy that seeks to undermine our rights or to empower their self or government to the ends of subordinating those rights, I remind you that you are subject to prosecution under the law for high treason against the people whom you were elected to serve. So by all means, please continue revealing your motivations and ambitions through legislative treason and we the people will reward your efforts with impeachment, prosecution, and imprisonment.

Liberal? Thomas Jefferson was a social liberal, and he defined tyranny: “Tyranny is defined as that which is legal for the government but illegal for the citizenry.” Do we not have a lot of that?
Then there’s Tench Coxe: “Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American…[T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people.” The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788

We can always count on a liberal to be disrespectful, Our main worry besides the fact that these old guard politicians are destroying our country…When are the media and politicians going to warn the American people to get ready for this disaster looming around the bend, ….the world is looking at replacing of the US dollar as the world currency, a new unified currency is planned , IMF ..China..RUSSIA.. Arab nations..Brazil..Chile..South Africa..India and Australia have new currency agreements that do not include the US . This will be a complete disaster for America…as it was for the United Kingdom when they went through this down grade. Our dollar is about to be worth nothing…and all the democrats can do is spend..spend..spend and print fake money worth nothing now to the world. Why is it that the republicans have not taken over the news waves and news papers to warn the American people? Meetings are going on with world leaders without inviting the US…its coming and all these high stock prices will not save anyone from this disaster. The federal reserve and politicians have destroyed America.
This stock market is a joke, the printing of money to cover the banks and keep interest rates down is a joke..When the world turns away from American we will be in dire straights to say the least, we are a nation of consumers we import everything from china who holds our notes.
This should be the number one story across this nation..people are going to lose Everything. Not t

The only reason for spending all this money is because the government intends for it to become worthless. Time to invest in food, guns, ammo, or metals. Something that can be bartered. When you look at your bank statement, don’t forget to subtract it from your total value.

Lets start by example….requiring OUR candidates to voluntarily hold themselves to self-imposed term limits. “I will serve no longer than two terms…and then return to the private sector”

We need politicians who don’t want to be politicans. Ones that HATE politics. And look what the senate does to anyone serving more than two terms– lifers, driven by politics, reelection, power, and special interests that can help them get re-relected.

Senator Cruz was elected to represent me, and my fellow conservatives. While Senator Leahy may be the current chairman, he certainly does not represent the number of people Senator Cruz represents. Perhaps we also need term limits on committee chairs, and more, let the bigger states control the chairs in the senate, we, the people need representing there, in the corporations house.

Congress, both the house and the senate has spent the last generation failing the American people, passing laws against them, giving their treasure away and not representing the vast majority of the people for their own personal gain.

The “greatest generation” save Europe and lost America because they failed to continue the fight for freedom – somehow, it just became too hard.

Too hard became too much and too much became the problem of future generations of Americans that will have to do too much and work too hard to fix it.
