Chris Matthews has long championed the Republicans-are-all-just-a-bunch-of-birthers argument. And on his Thursday program he resurrected it again, this time using Donald Trump and his invite to speak at CPAC to insinuate the conference and the conservative movement is promoting the idea Obama is an “illegal immigrant.”
Matthews hosted Al Cardenas, head of of the American Conservative Union (which puts on CPAC), and former RNC chair Michael Steele and cornered them on Trump.
Why more time for the number one birther in the country?” Matthews asked, referring to Trump getting more speaking time than others such as Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. That was after playing several old clips of Trump asking to see Obama’s birth certificate.
“He is nutty on the issue of birtherism,” Matthews emphasized. “I mean, that’s what he’s known for now. Not building towers into the sky.”
And that’s when Steele stepped in to offer a defense.
“I think that characterization can be put behind Donald Trump,” Steele said.
“He won’t put it behind him,” Matthews quickly retorted.
“Oh, Chris, he hasn’t been talking about that–,” Steele tried to respond before Matthews interrupted with disagreement.
After some back and forth, Steele finally got agitated: “Chris, nobody’s talking about it but you! You did a 30-second lead in on it.”
“You know why? Because people who think the president is an illegal immigrant shouldn’t be talking out loud almost anywhere,” Matthews responded. “They think he’s an illegal immigrant. That he snuck into the country, broke our laws, and is a fraud.”
“All that’s now behind us,” Steele responded.
Later, Matthews asked Cardenas if he would be happier if Trump didn’t talk about the birther issue, to which Cardenas offered a simple, “Yes.”

According to Steele, the only person in the country still talking about the birther issue is Matthews. And judging by his ratings, the number of people LISTENING to Matthews talk about the birther – or any OTHER – issue can be counted on the fingers of both hands.
I fully agree with POWER CORD: WHY do Republicans/conservatives still bother to go on shows on BSLSD or Communist News Network or other offerings for the low-wattage crowd like The View? The ONLY people who watch these offerings anymore are the hard-core Kool-Aid drinkers who will NEVER vote Republican, so there is NO trove of gettable votes from this crowd for the GOP, zero, zip, nada.
And judging by their ratings, CNN and BSLSD are having severe trouble even getting enough Kool-Aid drinkers to stay viable. Only their purchase by Al Jazeera kept Current TV from going the way of Air America, as in EXTINCT.
Ann Coulter has refused for some time to go on Matthews’ show because she will not help improve his ratings. She knows that HE needs HER a lot more than SHE needs HIM.
But the ratings woes of these outlets that pander to the LIV’s is not hard to understand. As Andrew Wilkow has said on his satellite-radio show, this crowd rarely even WATCHES the nightly offerings of CNN and BSLSD, THEY watch instead Honey Boo Boo, the Kardassians, Dancing With The Stars, reality shows, and other such mush.

Crissy M. is worried it is true and if finally proven so the people can realize it (it is already proven), then Crissy’s stubborn loyalty to a treasonous president will ruin his career.

I’m sure you’ve heard by now of how they do it: they simply put a piece of fruit or something else that attracts the monkey’s interest in a gourd or a pot with an opening into which the monkey can easily slide its hand and reach down to grab whatever it is has lured him into the trap. But the opening through which the monkey inserted its hand is not wide enough for the monkey to pull its hand back out of IF it is clutching what has been put in the trap. Once the monkey has grabbed the bait, it simply will not let it go even as those who set the trap come up to club it to death. Of course, the monkey could easily escape and save its life – IF it would simply let go of the bait, because then it could easily withdraw its hand and scurry away. But once the monkey has grabbed the bait, it just can’t bring itself to let go of the bait even to save its life. So the hunters COUNT on the monkey’s avarice – and that avarice proves the monkey’s undoing.
So it is with so many Americans today: they have become so inured to supposedly free stuff provided by a supposedly beneficent government that they have become utterly blinded to the fact that this free stuff has become a lure which will ultimately bring them to an unhappy ending unless they learn to let it go. And since they can’t bring themselves to let it go once they have it in their hand, it will be THEIR undoing as well.

The question needs to be ask; In the spirit of transparency, can we see your transcripts?……If the answer is anything but yes. The follow-up should be; Why not? What don’t you want us to know? Will you just tell us now if there’s a problem with your transcripts?
Look, we know about the pot, cocaine and lack of any true experience before the election. We also got some bad grades, big deal…So, what could be so bad about yours?

How many presidents have Americans who knew them during that schooling who have stated said President received foreign student aid during college?
How many presidents with such claims being made have been exempt from main stream media scrutiny?
Or how about…
How many Presidents have been given a social security number whose state indicator is from a state in which they never lived?
How many Presidents refused to provide birth certificate if asked well into their first term, and when such was finally provided, offered only a mimeograph or photostat?
How many Presidents have had critical review of a poorly copied birth certificate raise valid questions and concerns that went uninvestigated by the main stream media?
How many Presidents have affected clearly audience specific patter and inflection depending upon the racial mix of those to whom they were speaking, only to have the press refer to ANY opposition to his actual political ideas and executive decisions be called out as racist?
Your President is causing problems for all citizens of this nation, Chrissie, that will take years to recover from, if revovery is possible.
Wake up, and start pretending you are a journalist.
