White House Press Secretary Jay Carney during an interview with Fox News’ Jenna Lee on Friday snapped at her questions regarding the effects of sequestration, saying that “if [she] did a little reporting” she would be better informed.
“The White House is going to be open for the East Egg Roll for families for Congress,” Lee said, referring to the various closures that the White House has announced since the March 1 automatic budget cuts, “but not open for families that are just, you know, regular families out there that want to visit the White House.”
Carney pounced.
“Well, actually,” he said, “Jenna, again, if you did a little reporting you’d know that the Easter Egg Roll is open for a lot of military families.”
“It’s paid for by the sale of those eggs that come out as well as donations from the outside,” he added.
For those of you who might be a little surprised at the Press Secretary’s tone, you shouldn’t be. After all, this is the second time this week that he has snapped at a reporter.
Recall that NPR reporter Mara Liasson on Monday asked him whether entitlement reform would be part of President Barack Obama’s official budget.
“Mara, the way you phrase that question makes me think that you’re still working on a typewriter or something. It’s available online. The proposal is there,” Carney responded.
Indeed, Carney’s tendency to be somewhat curt is hardly new — especially when it comes to Fox reporters. Consider the past dust-ups both he and Fox News’ Ed Henry have gotten into:
And then there’s this:

Mar. 15, 2013 at 10:35pmHe’s a little smug weasel… No one has yet to explain to me why we are spending over 1 Trillion more than we take in , which is 1 Trillion more than we were just 5 years ago. Why? The wars are declining, why are we spending over 600 BILLION more now than, then?

Mar. 15, 2013 at 10:23pmIs Jay Carney showing his true colors… there are just some questions that some of them or should I say all of them just don’t want to answer. Deception, lies.. oh yeah their so transparent. Obama lied about him having a transparent administration! We need another Watergate.. with recorded phone calls or meetings! I’d love to be a fly on the wall.. we know they love Obama!

Mar. 15, 2013 at 9:29pmMaybe if the administration was “transparent” like they claimed to be and the rest of the media actually did a little reporting instead of covering up for the administration over and over there would be less questions. FOX is the only place that actually reports the whole story all the time regardless.

Mar. 15, 2013 at 9:26pmCarney has a thin skin like his boss….his lack of experience is showing…like his boss. Dissing a Fox reporter might feel good at the moment for them…..but look at whose ratings are on top…..and we viewers are paying attention to the dismissive arrogance of this admin. Oh, and ‘we viewers’ also have the ‘net where we don’t need to see it ‘live’ and there are many many other outlets that we can watch the ignorance on display every day in every way.

Mar. 15, 2013 at 9:15pmBudget cuts are chopping off their egg rolls and the White House is hiding them? Why the nerve of these people? Gee, I would think military families would want to opt out of that little fun party? Are they forcing them? Come here son, times are tough, its got to go, do you understand?

Mar. 15, 2013 at 9:12pmThis is typical of anyone in the Obama administration. They are all extremely thinned skinned when it is them being asked direct, to the point questions about important issues. But yet it is the White House and the Democrats that demagogue every issue, even resorting to calling people murderers. I am so sick of these people. We will rid this country of their ilk when the insurrection comes.

Mar. 15, 2013 at 8:30pmCarney gets his “OK” to treat reporters in that manner from Mr. Obama. AG Holder has the same marching orders. Reporters are now just members of the “Sten-O-Pool” and should really be ashamed of their conduct.
So nothing new here until a reporter jumps Carney’s bones and gets into a shouting match.

Mar. 15, 2013 at 8:22pmIf Carney and the Socialistic Regime behind him could get away with it, they would never call on any reporters that didn’t have a left leaning agenda. If they could get away with it they wouldn’t have press conferences period. Alinsky style!

Mar. 15, 2013 at 8:18pmWhat a dismissive *****! Imagine talking down to an intelligent news reporter when you are a lowly puppet…spewing BS that the administration is insisting you say. Can these people look at themselves and the faces of their children and not feel they are aiding an administration of lying thugs? Daily disseminating continuous lies and rhetoric to the stupid, uninformed losers that elected this Bozo.
How can their children have any respect for them. Obviously, the salary these people get is more important than self respect, because no one with a semblance of intelligence could possibly believe 3/4 of what they say.

Mar. 15, 2013 at 8:03pmI’m glad all of those people get to go to the Easter Egg roll courtesy of private donors. Now, can my grandson go on the White House Tour his class was scheduled for – courtesy of all of the many who have offered to pay for them – even Donald Trump? Oh, I heard Obama “refused” those donations… maybe they weren’t from the “right” party. Hey, kids: it’s OBAMA who called off your tours – not the Republicans!
