Ahead of President Obama’s first presidential visit to Israel next week, a new poll by the Maagar Mohot Institute and the Israeli daily Maariv claims that only 10% of Israelis view the U.S. president “favorably.”
Politico relates:
President Obama has said he wants to speak directly with the Israeli people and reinforce his support for Israel during his trip there next week.
He may have some serious talking to do. A new poll of Israelis conducted by Maagar Mohot Institute and Israeli daily Maariv found that 38 percent believe he is hostile to Israel and 14 percent believe he is indifferent. Only a third think he is supportive.
In addition, Obama is facing steep unfavorable ratings in the country, the poll found. Some 32 percent said they don’t like him but respect him, 19 percent view him unfavorably and 17 percent have a highly unfavorable opinion of him.
Perhaps the most daunting number for Obama in the poll: Only 10 percent view him favorably. [Emphasis added]
“I don’t feel like he’s done anything special for Israel,” Oshri Biton, a 40-year-old Jerusalem merchant, recently told the Associated Press. “As president, he has to be a friend of Israel’s. But he’s a friend who pats you on the shoulder. He doesn’t give you a hug.”

A person needs “ALL” the data.
A person needs to see historical trends. A run chart going back to 1960 would be good as well as who had control of Congress, You could break it down into trends for the House of Representatives & for the senate. You can compare it to economic trends & presidential approval polls. You need to know some of current events of the day & what policies where implemented & who supported what policies & why.

Wow, 4% difference.That is almost within the margin of error.
So the public dislikes congress. Is that news? The public has dislike congress for 20 years or more. It has had a rating around 20% for years. Yet Congressmen keep getting re-elected. It is the old Congress is bad except for my Congressman. People need to get more involved & knowledgeable. They need to know specific policies & bills.then the mainstream media won’t be able swing them around like a weather vane in a storm.

Mar. 16, 2013 at 11:47pmI’ve spent time in Israel, driven north and south and in many parts I felt as if I was in America. The people are friendly and warm; I found it interesting how few truly understood the individual support Americans would be willing to lend them.
They are quite socialist with very high taxes + a VAT, many have issue with the Orthodox community and the amount of state benefits they receive compared to their social contribution.
In a word they are just as “F__ked” as we are.

My point was more along the lines of not having to agree with someone 100% in order to have them on our team.
Many on this site turn on commenters, politicians, newscasters and the like when they ‘step out of line’ or for voicing some contrary opinion.
I do not dislike debate, I rather enjoy given the opportunity to defend my position and appreciate those that defend theirs, though I may disagree – I learn much.
I support Isreal. However if someone else does not, I do not belittle them or insult them.
We need all oars in the water.
Too many here stayed home because Romney wasn’t the ‘perfect’ candidate. They think 4 more years of Obama is better than 4 years of Romney.
Too many take their ball and go home if any one but a pure libertarian isn’t running.
Too many think their form of religion is the only religion.
Too many think their pint of view is the one that must be right and all others are pretenders.
I say, enough!
Let’s overlook our differences and unite!
The reason we are losing is because Obama has divided us…let’s not divide ourselves.

Next month I will be visiting there as well. I recommend it to every one. Once you be there you wouldn’t want to go back … guaranteed.

Any getting close with other people(I.e. countries), and the selfish friend(Israel) will push themselves on you almost. It is unfortunate that Bibi and Barry dont seem to like each other personally; I bet when Obama gets a call and sees its Netanyahu on the caller ID, he probably has to force himself to answer the phone… Where are our other “friends” in the world, what are they up to these days? I haven’t heard from France since they killed Ghadafi(to avoid paying for Libyan oil in gold, what’s Canada been up to, they haven’t called us in a while right? Or how about our friends in the developing world in South America and Africa? I’m being sarcastic, but the point is that if the Israelis have such a bad opinion of Obama, maybe he shouldn’t go to Israel. BarryO probably has a higher like able rating in every other country(except N? Korea) among the regular population. When Kennedy went to Dallas in 63, the Dallas Tribune had a photo of JFK on the front page with the headline “Wanted for treason”. This was on the day JFK was killed, and yet he was still left in an open air vehicle in a already hostile environment. I’m not saying that Israelis or Palestinians might be foolish enough to harm BarryO, but with the environment, anything is possible. There is a long history of these kind of acts in those areas, especially from orthodox joos, or fanatical Moozlims.

If 38% of them think that Obama is “hostile to Israel”, then 2% of them are apparently OK with it. Conservative pollsters are bad at math.

Obama’s disdain for Mr. Netanyahu and his casual attempts to act like he cares about their survival while making remarks such as, Israel should go back to their ’67 borders, do not fall on deaf ears in a country that is constantly under attack by an unrelenting enemy.
They should not trust Obama. I don’t trust Obama with America’s future, why should the Israelis trust him with theirs?
