Rand Paul Edges out Marco Rubio to Win CPAC Straw Poll

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. , speaks at the 40th annual Conservative Political Action Conference in National Harbor, Md. , Thursday, March 14, 2013. (AP)
Sen. Rand Paul narrowly beat out Sen. Marco Rubio to win the Conservative Political Action Conference straw poll, offering an early glimpse of the potential 2016 Republican primary battle three years away.
Paul (R-Ky.) won with 25 percent of the vote, closely followed by Rubio (R-Fla.) with 23 percent. Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) came in third place with 8 percent.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie — not invited to speak at CPAC — was fourth with 7 percent of the vote, followed by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), the 2012 GOP vice presidential nominee, with 6 percent. Nearly 3,000 CPAC registrants voted.
The CPAC straw poll is in no way a predictor of who will win the White House: Mitt Romney won the straw poll last year, breaking two years of dominance by Rep. Ron Paul, father of Rand Paul.

Posted on March 16, 2013 at 11:21pmI am glad to see Rand Win. However, it is disturbing to see Rubio second. Don’t get me wrong, Rubio is a good guy, but he is constitutionally ineligible to be president or Vice President (12th Amendment makes Natural Born Citizen a requirement for VP). He is not a Natural Born Citizen. Jindal and Cruz are not either. Rubio was born in Miami, but his parents were not US citizens at the time of his birth. His parents did not become citizens some 17 years after his birth. Just a shame.
I say it is disturbing because it is so obvious the Republicans are going to blow off the constitutional requirement and are going to put these guys out there who are just like Obama, ineligible to be president or Vice President. Just morally bankrupt Americans with their ends justifies the means!!!!!

Are these people Republicans or are they Democrats in disguise? Reagan said someone that agrees with you 80% of the time is your friend, but what if these people only agree with you 20% of the time? At CPAC, they must have held to the shadows, skulking about the edges, like Smeagol (Gollum), hoping yet to keep their “precious.”

Of course, the constitution says they will be nominated by the president – but that dose not mean they have to be rubber-stamped by congress. What is the point of having congress get involved if they can only vote yes?

Posted on March 16, 2013 at 11:02pmSeems to me if there are so few Ron Paul supporters, who are “Kooks” then his voters should not have had an impact on the 2012 campaign. Apparently there are more kooks out there than the GOP is willing to acknowledge and it WILL and HAS been to their detriment. Either deal with the diversity within the party or shut up and watch it crumble to the ground.
Either way, stop acting like democrats. Expecting a bunch of lemmings to fall inline with the old guard. Those days are clearly over.
You Republicans ask yourselves one question. Why would a bunch of Pot smokers want to be a part of the GOP? Think about it. If they were really a bunch of panty waste hippies getting high, wouldn’t they fit in the dem. party better? Where they give them what they want for votes. But that is not the case, these people must have something in common with the GOP to hang around and vote with them while constantly taking verbal abuse from the old guard.
You figure that out and how to bring the two together, and the dems don’t stand a chance. But as long as you keep calling them Kooks, you can enjoy your place in obscurity for decades to come.

While observing progressives I have learned that their disorder stems for many different thing.
First of all they have low self esteem, poor work ethics and a completely void of viable skills or talents.
Because of this they feel compelled to force others to take care of them.
In our studies the only thing that seem to work was to completely discontinue all help and resources. Although they fuss and have tantrums they eventually start to forage on their own.
Thus making them a productive citizen.

It appears his mother was an American citizen at the time of his birth but his father may be in question. I would love the left to start talking about “natural born” at this point. Let’s see where the chips fall and I stick with my statement.

Posted on March 16, 2013 at 6:00pmActually, it’s about HONESTY, not race or ethnicity. IF the guy in the WH had any of the qualities of PATRIOTISM, HONESTY, CHARACTER our country and our world would be a much better place. RAND and MARCO are two good men. WHO knows? That might be the ticket in 2016!! One thing for sure:
like Jesse Jackson reminded us (the only thing he’s ever said I agree with) “GET OUT THE BUSHES”..
I hope little Jebbie and his trainer KARL ROVE got the idea…ol’ Jeb may be a “Publican” but he’s no Conservative …He would have been a better Pres. over all than GW probably. RIGHT NOW if JEB
hopes to score any points he can pontificate about the insane and highly threatening threat to all of our schools in this Common Core crap. I hope he’s paying attention. Without a doubt, next to Obamacare..the single most damaging effort against our Patriotic, Free Society: Common Core. Trust GLENN on this one!! Look how many times GLENN has been 100%!! If you are not watching his show, you probably need to. (I don’t have any association with them) . HAPPY ST. PADDY’S DAY!
