Former Bush Chief Strategist Compares Conservatives to the Flinstones, Sarah Palin to the Kardashians
Matthew Dowd, former chief strategist for the 2004 George W. Bush campaign, apparently doesn’t have much of a soft spot for CPAC or for Sarah Palin.
Appearing on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, Dowd likened CPAC to no less than two prehistoric children’s cartoons, and not so subtly compared former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to Kim Kardashian. National Review captured the one-minute statement from Dowd:
“Matt, you’re just shaking your head. The whole thing, it makes you nervous, what do you say?” ABC host Martha Raddatz asked.
“To me, imagery and who’s there [at CPAC] and what you say is important, and I don’t think divisions are a bad thing,” Dowd said. “I actually think that a conservative message that is built for the 21st century would be a good thing. CPAC to me reminds me of, you know, ‘Land Before Time,’ and it’s like going to a Flinstones episode in my opinion.”
Raddatz asked if Dowd meant CPAC attendees were dinosaurs. Dowd nodded.
“It’s like a bunch of dinosaurs, most of them are like throwbacks in times, it’s like who’s running for Grand Poohbah of the Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes is what it looks like to me,” he said. “When you have Sarah Palin, who it’s an amazing situation to me, between her and the Kardashians, I think you add it up? Between a Palin connection and the Kardashians, there’s 10 reality shows that have been built around that. I don’t think it’s helpful to the Republican Party. I think there are some people, like Marco Rubio there who will become, and are, stars of the party. I think CPAC’s time has come and gone and it’s time for somebody to put together a 21st century conservative agenda.”
Dowd is the second Bush-era strategist to attack Palin on the Sunday shows following her barn-storming appearance at CPAC yesterday. On Fox News, Karl Rove made a dig at Palin for her failure to complete her term as governor of Alaska.

Independent thought is lost from them. These are Sheeple. So are their constituents. Follow the Leader blindly. Do as he says. Refuse him nothing. Dem. Conservatives, I know you’re out there. Time

The real Dinosaurs are the old school Reps. that will do or say anything to keep themselves in the halls of power. Up to and including giving up our Conservative principals and freedoms.

Posted on March 17, 2013 at 4:48pmThe “old guard” Repubs are the guys who allowed enough of the Repub party to be compromised by progressives, that a cheap suit like Obama could ponce into the country by grey-market at best, play around at university without paying a nickel for it, come into money without working for it, ride in the back of cabs smoking crack with no consequences, “unseal” an opponent’s records to sail into the Senate, and win two Presidential elections while dismantling America in front of our eyes. None of this happens unless a good segment of the Repubs are just as hateful of America as most of the Dems are.

Posted on March 17, 2013 at 10:54pmThis is pretty typical. There are smart Republicans who are talking. But the currents crop of Republicans aren’t listening. This is an interesting period in American history. State districts have been gerrymandered to the point that in any given state Republicans are going to win the most seats even though, as happened in 2012, they lose the general vote by large margins. Republicans have drawn the districts such that even though Democrats win the majority vote by large margins, they are confined to large population centers, and sparsely populated areas are won by Republicans.
They result? These low population areas, these low education areas, these Flinstone areas are going to be won by the most radical Tea Party candidate, regardless of how crazy he sounds to the rest of the country. You have to sound crazy to win with the Deliverance river people crowd. Far more people voted for Democrats than Republicans for the House in 2012. If popular vote was the deciding factor, Democrats would have won the House. As it is, Republicans only lost a couple of seats.
Anyway, Republicans didn’t learn anything from the 2012 election and are doubling down on the same policies that reduced their representation. There are smart Republicans talking, but the the right isn’t listening.

So far as I can tell….the Conservatives were the folks that voted in the presidential election, holding their noses, but supporting Romney. It was the wimp wing that stayed home, and gave us disaster, at least among those I talk with.

He hated rummy along with most of the military along with secretary rice. The future lefty rove showed him the door in 2005 and he has worked for the left ever sense.
The headline in this article says he is a “republican”. That would indicate to me that the lazy journalist didn’t check his voter registration.
