Did You Know Hollywood Made a Movie About Ben Carson? Watch the Highlights Here
Dr. Ben Carson has been hot with conservatives since his well-publicized speech at the National Prayer Breakfast, where he criticized President Obama’s policies while the president sat all of 5 feet away, not to mention his CPAC address this past weekend. But what you might not know is that before he became a hero on the right, Carson was already a minor celebrity, and even got a TV movie made about his life. The movie, titled “Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story,” is titled after Carson’s own autobiography, and follows the life of Carson (played as an adult by Cuba Gooding, Jr.) from his difficult early life through his college years at Yale to his career as a world-renowned neurosurgeon. It originally aired on TNT in February of 2009.
Apparently, unlike many would-be inspirational flicks that get released on TV, “Gifted Hands” is actually good, at least according to most critics. The Hollywood Reporter wrote an especially glowing review, calling the film “Emmy-worthy” and in a stroke of retroactive irony, the Orlando Sentinel called the film “the perfect movie for a country challenged by its new president to do better.”
Curious if you want to watch the film? YouTube user “pianonator” already put together a highlight reel of several scenes. You can watch it below:

Posted on March 17, 2013 at 8:38pmIt’s going to be pretty hard for the left to tear down Carson. Herman Cain was a deep threat to both sides. We’ll have to see how this plays out. If we were closer to the election I don’t think the MSM and the bravado’s on the left would be acting so aloof. I think in the good doctor’s case, they will try to co-opt him somehow. Make it look like they agree with him.

Posted on March 17, 2013 at 10:35pmHerman Cain was a threat, that may be the funniest thing I have read on the blaze. Cain is a great guy no doubt, but does anyone actually think he could be president? Seriously? If you actually think that he has a snowballs’ chance in the oven in an election then you guys are even dumber than the left thinks you are.

Posted on March 17, 2013 at 8:10pmWhat a great movie. I haven’t been inspired by a movie for a long time, but the story of Dr. Carson and his brother had me from the beginning. The part that was so special was when his Mom went to the (rich people’s) homes to clean, and saw what made them, (rich people), so different. She walked into the library and saw all the books and stopped to ask her boss, “Did you read all of these books?”, where as the man said, “why yes, most of them.” She, (Ben’s Mom), even without much formal education, figured out how important education is and made a decision that her boys were going to get an education, whether they liked it or not. As far as Gooding is concerned, he did a masterful job, as usual. I may not agree with his politics but he is a good actor.

Posted on March 17, 2013 at 7:11pmDr Carson has more brains in his little toe than most of those in DC. He needs to be our next President !
He is a man of great integrity , has a whole lot of common sense. I would be willing to work my fingers to the bone to help this great man become President. !

Posted on March 17, 2013 at 7:05pmGood movie, seemed real. Didn’t make him out to be perfect just a perfectionist. Rough younger life and a fantastic man. I would not have a problem with this man running. His common sense is obvious. And his life experience seems to keep him grounded. Unlike the Washington elite. We need non, non politically affiliated people to seek office. We all hate Lawyers and yet we choose them to lead the country. WTF

Posted on March 17, 2013 at 3:52pmThis is a beautiful true life story which we all should see. Let us see how long it takes the evil left to try and dirty this man so that no-one will vote for him should he run as a conservative. This man is a true hero of a special order and let no man try to change that.
