Reversing course on her previous stance against same-sex marriage, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has come out in support of gay matrimony. She announced her decision on Monday in a nearly six-minute video that was released by the Human Rights Campaign.
“For America to continue leading in the world, there is work we must do at home,” Clinton said in the clip, citing the need to invest in national security and other domestic needs — and also to live up to ideals associated with the rights of gays and lesbians.
“LGBT Americans are our colleagues, our teachers, our soldiers, our friends, our loved ones — and they are full and equal citizens and deserve the rights of citizenship,” Clinton continued. “That includes marriage.”

Political observers will likely cite the Democratic Party’s shift toward advocating gay marriage for her reversal, with President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and others joining in on affirming their belief that same-sex unions should be legal. Clinton is the latest to join this chorus.
It should also be noted that her embrace of gay marriage would likely be needed before launching interest in a 2016 presidential bid, seeing as her party has so fervently advocated for the cause. Like Obama, who endorsed same-sex marriage leading into the 2012 race, Clinton alluded to an “evolution” of sorts.
“Like so many others my personal views have been shaped over time by people I have known and loved, by my experience representing our nation on the world stage, my devotion to law and human rights and the guiding principles of my faith,” she said. “Marriage, after all, is a fundamental building block of our society. A great joy, and yes, a great responsibility.”
Watch Clinton’s announcement, below:
While questions continue to surround a potential 2016 run, no definitive announcements have been made. This endorsement, though, is sure to continue sparking curiosities about Clinton’s intentions. As Politico notes, her husband, Bill, and daughter, Chelsea, had previously embraced gay marriage.
This is a breaking news story. Stay tuned for updates.

Mar. 18, 2013 at 12:27pmThis woman is incredibly stupid. Homosexuality is “the building block” of NOTHING. It’s just about sexual preferences, meaning “what makes the World go round” for YOU.
How does “the way you like it” build a family or a Community? I can see it now, Bob and Ted on the latest talk show telling the audience that their family is stronger because of their sex life.

Mar. 18, 2013 at 12:30pmYes it is governments job to protect traditional marriage, which is a foundational principle of western civilized society. It’s not it’s job to re-define marriage. Progressives on both sides, are not my friend. Signed ~ A gay conservatarian.

Mar. 18, 2013 at 12:09pmIts really depressing that after Obama,we have this waiting in the wings to “lead” the free world further into the abyss, while those who would destroy us grow stronger. Republicans had 8 years of destroying our enemies, and the progressives will get 12 to rebuild them.

Mar. 18, 2013 at 12:03pmI am gay conservatarian and against government re-defining marriage. I know enough about history to know that progressives on both sides are not my friend and are very dangerous to civil society, liberty, freedom, justice, equality, and Bill of Rights/Constitution. Gay militants and their straight allies are creating a new “civil right” to push their totalitarian agenda. If you are for limited government you cannot be for gay marriage.

Mar. 18, 2013 at 12:02pmLow information voters, who think it is someone else’s problem, are for gay marriage. Then when those same voters see their sons and daughters attacked by pedophiles and other gays trying to recruit, they are aghast and scream,”Something should be done.” That is the clarion call of the dumb*** voter.

Mar. 18, 2013 at 11:54am“Marriage, after all, is a fundamental building block of our society. A great joy, and yes, a great responsibility.” said Ms. Clinton
Well then Ma’am, this fundamental building block that you speak of, when did the blocks that hold up the structure change???????????? In my narrow mind, I must have been wrong all these years, thinking the fundamental building block (marriage) was between a man and woman.
But this change ma’am sounds like erosion and not progress- I am glad you have become ‘enlightened,’ but please do not force this artificial lighting on good people…………..

Mar. 18, 2013 at 11:50amI have no problem with her endorsing “sodomite marriages”. My problem with her and any other “that endorses sodomy” is that I wish they would stop carrying around God’s Holy Word and or claim to be a Christian. The same Holy Word that they are carrying around says in it, that God has called “sodomy” (an abomination-means: stinks in the nostrils of God). My pray is that they “repent” of their wickedness in endorsing “sodomy” OR “they stop carrying around God’s Holy Word! If they don’t, they will have a hotter place in hell than those that have never heard.

Mar. 18, 2013 at 11:48amStart a list of the different people, activist groups, etc. to which Clinton panders over the next three + years. My guess is it will cover every left-wing liberal group on the planet, no matter how radical.
It is sad to see politicians sucking up to so many, in order to garner a vote, but they want to get elected; and they will foul the country immeasurably, with no concern about the damage they do in oreder to gain power and riches for themselves and their friends.
What whores!

Mar. 18, 2013 at 11:42amThank you Mrs. Clinton, Americans have rewarded the Clinton family with one of the rarist privledges ever granted to humans, to actually have one of their members of their family be the President of the United States, the symbol of freedom, the torch of liberty, enshrined in the Bill of Rights, not to have your religious freedoms, determined by the state, at the end of a barrel of a gun?
In return for that honor, your husband has been a world wide tour, to attack the US Constution, from silence about Billy Carter and his support of the religion of Islam by bonding with those citizens, to his silence about President Bush spending hundreds of billions of public tax dollars to help prop up Islamic regimes, supporting the religion of Islam, meanwhile be silent while your political base attacks Christians on a range of issues, from school prayer to abortion?
Just like they grabbed the money out of Cypress banks, they told the Democrat Convention, yes you did vote a certain way, even though the crowd was screaming something else? No Mrs. Clinton, we don’t blame the low information voters out there, we blame the people that delibertly studied the US Constitution, and passed the law exam bars, and practiced law?
Thank you Mrs. Clinton, for being an example, of what a young woman should be, if she wants to be a lawyer, attack the 1st Amendment and the Church, to redefine the establishment of religion called marriage?
