Chairman Reince Priebus and the Republican National Committee released a new 100-page report from an internal task force on the party’s status after November 2012 defeats and, unsurprisingly, things don’t look so good.
The report recognized that “public perception of the party is at record lows,” and ”young voters are increasingly rolling their eyes at what the party represents, and many minorities wrongly think that Republicans do not like them or want them in the country.”
The findings say that the GOP is seen as the party of “stuffy old men” and needs to change its ways.
The report calls for extensive expansion of GOP outreach to minority communities, and among ideological recommendations, it advises that the GOP must embrace “comprehensive immigration reform,” and on social issues “must in fact and deed be inclusive and welcoming.”
President and CEO of FreedomWorks Matt Kibbe and Sirius XM Program Director Reggie Hawkins joined “Wilkow!” Monday to discuss the GOP’s attempt to remake itself and the focus on messaging and outreach to minorities for the GOP.

Mar. 19, 2013 at 10:01pmHow can the GOP rebrand?
Why don’t they try FREEDOM?! Freedom enegizes people more than anything else. Republicans or Dems wouldn’t know anything about that since nobody has been talking about it for the past 200 yrs. If the Republicans are going to have to comprimise anything to the dems, they need to do it in a way that allows more freedom. Like legalizing marjiana or civil unions. Don’t legalize it, send it to the states and give the PEOPLE the right to decide for themselves. Republicans should say the word freedom in their speeches at least 10 or 15 times a day. They should explain and teach freedom as if it is some new idea. The problem is, FREEDOM is a new idea to most of the politicians in washington…From both parties!

Mar. 19, 2013 at 11:54amThere are those taking advantage of the fact the Tea Party isn’t centralized. I’m getting calls asking for donations from groups that have “Tea Party” in their name, but exist only to solicit funds. Be aware of who you are giving to.

Mar. 19, 2013 at 10:32amHow about most repubs are just dems in sheeps clothing. There is little or no difference between the 2 parties with few exceptions people like McCain who caves on all Obama garbage. Simply put I will no longer vote the lesser of 2 evils.

Mar. 19, 2013 at 9:44amWhen among your headlining speakers at CPAC are Ryan, Palin, West, Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, and Perry, all who lost their last major electoral bid, as well as Trump and LaPierre, you do not need rebranding, you need your heads examined. When your speakers take the time to defend Nixon and slavery and suggest immigration policy that allows in only white people from Europe, your party is in big trouble. I used to feel guilty about leaving the party, but not anymore.

Mar. 19, 2013 at 10:34amYour ignorance is breath taking. Maybe if Republicans would stand for conservative positions they would at very least be a party of ideals. Turning into repubocrats will not work.

Mar. 19, 2013 at 8:29amI don’t mind looking at a defeat and trying to determine the reason. Why on Earth would you come out with all the findings of the report and broadcast them to the world? It on reinforces the notions that the main stream media has quite effectively proliferated. Look at the info and silently make changes where necessary.

I love Mitt, but he was too hot and too rich for the “average person”.
Same with Palin.
Maybe Christie really is the next great hope for the party.

You meant too stupid, right?
If you listen to that woman and come away with ‘rich’ and ‘hot’ and not ignorant and uneducated,
then you too might be, ahhh, let’s say ‘rich’ and ‘hot’.

Mar. 19, 2013 at 6:13amThe GOP could start by not pandering to ‘minorities’ and stand up and tell historical facts.
The Republican party was started as an anti-slave party~Republican party ran Abe Lincoln for prez~Republican votes passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 the Dems had prevented it’s passage several times~~~Southern Democrats started the KKK and disarmed black farmers~~longest serving US Senator was Robert Byrd..a Democrat & former leader of KKK~~~longest filibuster in US history was by Sen Strom Thurmond…who at that time was a Democrat & his filibuster was AGAINST civil rights
Show the difference in the Districts across the nation that are/have been represented by Democrats vs Republicans. The standard of living is much highter in areas that have historically elected Republican leaders– on the county, state, and national level.
A starting place for the Republicans ….or a 3rd party…is to stop reacting to the agenda of the Left and be pro-active. Sharing the truth with young voters would be a good start..you cannot plan the future if you do not know the truth about the past.

Mar. 19, 2013 at 9:14amYour points are very astute if the year is 1870. The party was started by liberals. No more liberal Republicans now though. And you had better check your data about Republican controlled states and districts. If you believe they are the best and the brightest I have some properties in Mississippi, Aabama, and Arkansas to sell you.

Mar. 19, 2013 at 10:36amRepublicans started as an antislavery party, Democrat KKK, Robert Byrd, 1964 Civil Rights Act passed by Republicans, yada yada yada. Same tired old stuff.
As for Strom Thurmond, to borrow a line from Ronald Reagan, he didn’t leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left him, by endorsing civil rights just when the Republicans very suddenly, and very conveniently, were discovering “states’ rights.”

Mar. 18, 2013 at 11:57pmAre they really stuffy old men, or are they failing to market their product on purpose? When you own the competition, that’s called in the market place, a win win? Only by staying true to the US Constitution and strictly following the Bill of Rights, and then making sure your commerce is not regulated in ways that chokes it, while reserving rights to the States AND – AND – AND (can you hear me now) Private Citizens, there is not a branding problem, there is a communication problem?
Sarah Palin was a stuffy old man? Why did SNL spend so much time on her?
LIke Cher says, snap out of it?
