Many of you know about Combat Correspondents (photojournalists) in the U.S. military and the great work that they do.

However, perhaps you haven’t seen some of the most recent photos from correspondents embedded with the U.S. Marine Corps. The following images, compiled by Business Insider’s Geoffrey Ingersoll, from January, February, and March 2013 are so good, we thought they were worth a post:

  @cvs334: ‘Would’a been on a “Frog” (CH-46) that went in w 26 souls if I hadn’t pulled the duty. Mother’s Day weekend. Then there was the time on a ’53D when the LSD took a stray roll to port and we almost went over the side. (Owe it to a great Marine aviator, whomever you are, sir.) Lost a crew a day before in another ’53. Regarding the Osprey: Get over it.

  @NEALB4ZODD, Fact is that voting had nothing to do with the outcome of the election. If you knew anything, you would know that the electronic voting machines were compromised, there’s even testimony from the software engineer who wrote the program to rig the election, hence the 100% for Obuthead in some counties, the 113+ voter turnout in several other counties, both of which are IMPOSSIBILITIES. Elections in this country became voided in 2008. But thanks for showing us your stupidity.

  Right there next to the $100,000 in-debt, jobless, poop-in-the-street, ivy-league grads at OWS. Put any group together and there will be bad people, the difference in the Marines is that the “bad people” are <0.1% instead of 1%-10% found in most groups. Your comment disgusts me; obviously you've never wore a uniform and have no idea what it's like to know that any second you could be seeing your best friend fall to enemy fire and your sole focus is to ensure that doesn't happen. Take a look at the pictures, do you have what it takes to do any of those things? How about all of them? How about 4 6-month deployments to Iraq and 1 to Afghanistan in 6 years leaving behind a wife and 3 kids. Does your spouse have what it takes to be a single-parent half the time and welcome you back to co-parent the other half and to live in 3 different locations in those 6 years? The servants-to-freedom in those pictures don't ask for your respect or your gratitude. Thats not M1 ammo. M1 ammo is 30-06 150 grain and is loaded in en block 8 round clips. This is actually 5.56 M855 62 Grain steel penetrator. It’s loaded in mil-spec 10 round stripper clips ready to recharge M16/M4 magazines.

  Matter of fact, as an Infantryman it wasn’t uncommon for the FNG’s to do the “burns” from the contents of the latrines back in the day. I had that honor a few times.
  
  After re-up as a Combat Engineer… I had a hand in constructing many a latrine for field doodies (so to speak).
  
  And you did what again besides complaining about your “sweaty” NCO’s and being first in line at the Officer’s Mess after putting your lipstick on their @sses? It amazes me you weren’t thrown overboard with the rest of the turds from the head….
