Horror: Abortion Worker Admits To Cutting the Spines Of At Least 10 Babies, Accuses Coworkers Of the Same

PHILADELPHIA (TheBlaze/AP) — A medical assistant told a jury Tuesday that she snipped the spines of at least 10 babies during unorthodox abortions at a West Philadelphia clinic, at the direction of the clinic’s owner.

And she said Dr. Kermit Gosnell and another employee did the same to terminate pregnancies.

Adrienne Moton’s testimony came in the capital murder trial of Gosnell, who owned the clinic and is on trial in the deaths of a patient and seven babies. Prosecutors accuse him of killing late-term, viable babies after they were delivered alive, in violation of state abortion laws.

Gosnell’s lawyer disputes that any babies were born alive and challenges the gestational age of the aborted fetuses.

Moton, the first employee to testify, sobbed as she recalled taking a cellphone photograph of one baby left in her work area in 2008. She thought he could have survived, given his size and pinkish color. She had measured him at nearly 30 weeks.

Gosnell later joked that the baby was so big he could have walked to the bus stop, she said.

Jurors saw Moton’s photograph of the boy called “Baby A” on a large screen in the courtroom, which took on a bizarre look Tuesday as witnesses testified near a hospital bed with stirrups and other aging obstetric equipment. Denied the chance to bring jurors to the shuttered inner-city clinic, prosecutors are instead recreating a patient room in court.

The mother of “Baby A” testified Tuesday afternoon, describing a painful three-day abortion process that started at Gosnell’s clinic in Delaware. She was 17, had an infant daughter and was told by Gosnell she was 24 weeks pregnant — the legal limit in Pennsylvania, but not in neighboring Delaware, where abortions are banned after 20 weeks.

The Chester woman said she was given abortion drugs in Delaware and sent home the first two days, then was directed to the West Philadelphia clinic the third day. She was in severe pain by then, pain that only worsened the following week, she said.

Her aunt had taken her to the clinic and paid the $1,300 fee, and they had not told her mother.

“I never felt pain like that, ever,” the woman said. “I couldn’t talk to anybody and tell anybody.”

But the teen ended up being hospitalized for two weeks with a large abscess and a blood clot near her heart. Prosecutors say she is one of countless patients injured during botched abortions or unsanitary conditions.

One patient, 41-year-old Karnamaya Mongar, a refugee, died after an overdose of drugs allegedly given to her during a 2009 abortion.

Moton, 35, had lived with Gosnell’s family during high school because of problems at home, then went to work for him years later. She earned about $10 an hour — off the books — to administer drugs, perform ultrasounds, help with abortions, and dispose of fetal remains from 2005 to 2008.

She once had to kill a baby delivered in a toilet, cutting its neck with scissors, she said. Asked if she knew that was wrong, she said, “At first I didn’t.”

Moton has pleaded guilty to third-degree murder, which carries a 20- to 40-year term, as well as conspiracy and other charges. She has been in prison since early 2011, when Philadelphia prosecutors arrested Gosnell, his third wife, Pearl, and eight other employees.

Most of them have pleaded guilty and are expected to testify.

Defense lawyer Jack McMahon told jurors in opening statements Monday that Gosnell, now 72, returned to the impoverished neighborhood after medical school when he could have struck it rich in the suburbs. He called the prosecution of his client, who is black, “a lynching.”

But prosecutors believe Gosnell made plenty of money over a 30-year career using cheap, untrained staff, outdated medicines and barbaric techniques to perform abortions on desperate, low-income women.

And they say he made even more on the side running a “pill mill,” where addicts and drug dealers could get prescriptions for potent painkillers.

Authorities found $250,000 in cash under a mattress when they searched his home in 2010.

      The paucity of trolls for this story shows how THIS aspect of the abortion issue is where conservatives should direct their efforts. Rand Paul’s recent proposal is red meat for some social conservatives, but it will not go anywhere. In fact, it will probably be useful to the Left as a fund-raiser. Same with Todd Akin — puffing your chest out about how staunch you are against abortion is not going to help the cause of social conservatives. We got where we are by increments — and we can only make incremental progress. If the abortion issue is limited to partial birth abortion, then abortion is a winning issue. If it is about fertilized embryos, then . . . well . . . partial birth abortion will be protected, won’t it?

      As horrible as this story is I am writing to tell you Barry Soetoro (aka Barack H. Obama, Harrison J. The Obama’s are evil incarnate and they have the never to call themselves “Christians.” That is laughable given their track record with this law and Planned Parenthood. I will post Nurse Jill Stanek’s brave work to stop the Chicago thugs.

      Obama also refused to allow the courts to charge the Fort Hood jihadist with the death of Francheska Velez unborn baby (7 months old) which by the way Federal Law allows. Eric Holder was ordered to stop that from happening. That is why it is always reported that 13 were murdered in the Foot Hood jihadist attack when in fact 14 were murdered in the attack.

    No one fears God anymore…I know I do…I have a daughter that is 25 ys. old…When she was 22, she was raped…She blamed herself…My daughter was a virgin and was not in a relationship…I, her mother, was devastated. I did what was necessary to help my daughter..The thought of a child being conceived did enter my mind..I struggled with the choice my daughter might have to make…and I went to my mother who is a devout Catholic and cried to her seeking some kind of reassurance that would God punish my daughter..I told my mother why because of some horrific act, my daughter will carry the sin if she decided to abort the child..my mother tells me..in the eyes of God it is murder..I asked my husband if he thought I could love this child..He thought I was crazy for asking such a question…It turned out my daughter didn’t get pregnant…I asked her several months later what she would have done…She tells me..Mom..I remember you always telling us that abortion is wrong…no matter what..The baby just wouldn’t have been part of the rapist but it would have been the flesh of me…I have three daughter and they are all adults…I have been truly blessed because not one of them are sexually active, on birth control, and are not dating…They feel it’s not their priority…

      Raising a child is a lot of work to 24/7. It all has to do about responsibility!

      For me, a pet comes in handy, pet I mean a Dog not a cat, but, a dog, A dog and your child will notify you if he/she can handle “Responsibility”, that means picking up its waste, feeding and paying for the
      toys, buying food and treats. She’ll treat it as it was her own baby! Yea, pets due come in handy.

      Think about it! ; )

      This may be way beyond your ken, but people actually do have inherent dignity. Those who are reminded of their divine worth (parents can be essential in that), will maintain their virtue. My wife did. I did. My 3 adult daughters have. Have I had them under constant observation so that I can know that? Nope. But I know them and they know Jesus Christ. BTW, religious believe is NOT requisite for people to be true to their future spouse — but it sure can help.

      I am happy your daughter did not get pregnant. My wife was raped at 22 and did get pregnant. The ironic part is it happened in the same state “legitimate rape” Akin is from. She is a wonderful Christian woman the thought of abortion NEVER crossed her mind even though she was single still attending college. She does not feel as though she was punished, but blessed with a wonderful boy.

      To Ballsofee and Standpipe..What did I say that offended you…That I seeked my mother’s advice..That my daughters aren’t sexually active….The truth is what sets them free from others…The Way the Truth and The Light is how they live…Sorry to disappoint you but some children do actually listen to their parents….The one mistake I made in all this, was not trusting in my daughter or that God was with her through all this..So you never saught out advice from your mother…My mother is not an idiot…she believes and follows God’s Law…I admire her for that…I was one that was truly blessed by God for having parents that put their children first…I was the one with doubt…not my mother or my daughter….Those who fear the truth seek to ridicule those who believe…LIke I said..I fear God..because if we continue to allow children to be murdered..we carry the sin as well because we turned a blind eye to the truth..My mother or my daughters do not need to justify their actions for their beliefs to you or anyone…

      I knew a young girl who couldn’t seem to control her sex drives and had 3 babies out of wedlock and didn’t want them. Each and every one of them were adopted by loving families and one of the adoptive families are kin to me.

      There are hundreds of good loving people waiting to adopt and now with skin color becoming less important, mixed race families are becoming more and more common.

      MAY GOD RICHLY BLESS ANY FAMILY WHO WILL ADOPT A CHILD, WHO TRULY WOULD BE LOST, WITHOUT THAT FAMILY!!!

    I am sick and tired of the choice words that they use to explain away their murderous actions. Just how exactly does one “snip” the spine. The correct terminology would be to stab the baby in the back with scissors on either side of the spine and then close the scissors, cutting through flesh, cleaving the spine and severing the spinal cord. Absolutely inhumane and barbaric. an animal shelter putting down unwanted animals in this manner would be sued into oblivion by the very leftists that herald this barbarism.

All animal shot clinics in Texas were shut down because pet vaccinations now have to be done after a full examination, a standard higher that humans… It is sickening to see animals held above humans.

    What do you expect from the progressive poster children? I’ve spoken with women who work at those mills and they are plum crazy off the farm. The mental contortions they go through to justify what they partake in. I’m no activist in other people’s business, but there is psychological trauma across the board when it comes to abortion. I don’t want to see a woman stigmatized because she may have had HER reasons and they may have been in the extreme, to have an abortion. It’s not really mine to judge. But to say it’s a piece of trash and throw it out back after severing it’s spine is the mark of the beast. A pure sickness of the soul.

    It saddens me and pains me how doctors convince young gals that it’s tissue and not a baby, and how tortured these women remain for decades over the loss of their children; for they realize,during the barbaric procedure, that they lost a life. I have counseled some of these women–the wounded silent who believed the b.s. their medical providers told them.

    Please do not think that everyone who has aborted has no remorse and is as coldhearted as these evil killers. The difference is intent. young scared girls without family support, with the man saying “you’re on your own” and terrified, truly believe a fetus is not a baby, because the doctors tell them so; they’re also told that the tissue won’t feel a thing.

    I feel sad for the millions of women and men who grieve their aborted children decades later. Not the coldblooded people, but the vast majority who didn’t understand. I pray for their hearts to heal and to find the Lord’s forgiveness, if they only seek it out. These poor folks gets silenced by the left and hated by the right. They are too ashamed to speak out, which is understandable. Most of them would have kept the child or let the baby be adopted if they had understood it is a human life. Truly, these tortured people deserve compassion, but it is rare because they did the unthinkable. May God show them mercy.
