  A gun has no purpose other than injuring or killing. Why would a parent allow this around their children?

  I hear a lot of talk around here justifying gun ownership on the grounds that guns are needed to protect against criminals and/or to rise up against a tyrannical government.

  Neither is true, and everyone here knows it. If you need a gun to protect against crime, then we do not live in a civilized society with a police force that does its job and a population that is not angry and stressed and pushed against the wall to survive.. The answer here is to address the causes of violent crime in the US and the failure of the police force to curb it.

  As for rising up against the government–please!!! Think for one second–life is not the movie ‘Red Dawn.’ You will never defeat it in the Waco/Ruby Ridge mode that Blazer regulars seem to admire. You win with votes. We vote our government in and out of power every few years. The thing is, people aren’t buying what the GOP is selling.

    @Baikonur: ARE YOU INSANE? Where the heck do you live that you have no fear at all of criminals?! Let alone our currently tyrannical government? And we all know that guns are not needed because we live in a civilized society?! If you really believe what you said, you don’t know history, ESPECIALLY Ruby Ridge and Waco. If you’re not concerned, you’re not paying attention. You’re obviously NOT living in the same world I do. Police are merely there to record crime statistics at this sorry point… few can respond in time to protect you. Government spending is out of control, future GENERATIONS will be paying for the debt we’re accruing, but the absolute worst of it is the hypocrisy: gold-digging, corrupt, worthless, and yes, EVIL politicians, intent only on feathering their own nests. Our founding fathers told us our form government would only work in a moral society. What moral society kills the innocent, but hesitates at the death penalty for murderers? What CRAP. As I said, if you believe what you wrote, why are you here with us patriots? We believe in RESPONSIBILITY: personal, financial, and, especially, from our government officials, who should be public servants instead of autocrats. Meh – I smell a TROLL!
    Thought I’d share a gem of a one sentence editorial that appeared in the Peoria, Illinois Journal Star…. speaks volumes: “A pen in the hand of this president is far more dangerous than a gun in the hands of 200 million law-abiding citizens.” Amen, brother, A

    Baikonur, you are welcome to give up your guns. If there are guns in a home, the children should know how to properly use them. My 12 yr old owns a couple of .22 but prefers his .243. As for your nonsense of the government…go tell that to my dead ancestors. The government slaughtered them right after they were disarmed. I justify my gun ownership as it is my right given to me by Natures God, quite simply put, F*%^ YOU you’re not getting my guns. Again, your welcome to not own one. Have a Blessed Day.
