A man rushed the stage as Kansas City Mayor Sly James gave his State of the City Address Tuesday, knocking down a flag and then hurling obscenities in protest of the mayor’s statements.
The man was grabbed and thrown off stage by Kansas City Police Officer Marlon Buie, one of the mayor’s protection officers, KCTV-TV reports.
James was talking about Kansas City’s virtues and the All-Star Game in the city last year. He also cracked a joke about Raquel Welch when the boisterous man charged the stage and took the microphone.
“This man just got through talking about exactly what the (expletive) he ain’t (expletive) did,” the man shouted.
After Buie grabbed the suspect, he continued to yell and curse, telling the police officer to let him go. Another one of the mayor’s protection officers soon came to help get the man off the stage and into a jail cell.
“Well, that was unfortunate,” James said to applause.
Watch the wild video below:
James went on with his speech, immediately forgiving the man for his outburst.
“It’s unfortunate that we have people who feel that somehow we have left them behind. I don’t blame him for whatever feelings he wanted to express, I do have a small problem with the method,” he said. “But no system is perfect, no city is perfect. We must be open to the concepts and issues and complaints.”
James praised his staff’s handling of the incident and sent out the following tweet Tuesday: “I am deeply grateful my security detail, Marlon and Cssey, that is now twice when my security detail has saved me from harm. #lovemesomeKCPD.”

Really? KC is a disaster, and someone wanted to speak out about it. The guy didn’t attack the mayor, but the mayor tweets that his goon squad saved him from harm? Unlikely.
The mayor’s goon squad saved him from embarassment by a man who was trying to “tell it like it is”. He was foolish though, as this group was likely there to honor the idiot mayor. They didn’t want to hear the reality any more than the mayor did.
Oh, but gbo, good job on the character assassination.

We have a higher homicide rate than Chicago, New York, and Oakland. I like Sly James but there is no indication that the violence in KC is slowing down. I Can’t say i agree with this guys method.. But he got his point across and got people talking in the area. and I can’t say thats a bad thing.

Mar. 19, 2013 at 5:37pmThe man who charged the podium was correct. His method was wrong.
A mayor will push an event like “A Taste of Colorado” (pick your city/region) and promote it as a success. these events often cost the city more than the revenue generated. Or they will push some cheap safety project which is out of their purview and for which they cannot be judge on. Think of Bloomberg & his health campaigns. If the obesity rate does not go down is Bloomberg a failure or a success. Either way he will argue success.
In the meantime education s failing and violence is up.
It is not genes, it is memes. It is not Port au Prince but left of center policies. I tell my kids communism works. But I tell them the parameters make it work and point to successes and failures. I also explain the underlying psychology and biology.
It is memes not genes. It is left of center policies that are at fault. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

I considered not saying “his method was wrong”. I don’t know what else he tried.
It is a hard subject. The left at least since the Russian Revolution has made a point of shouting down anyone with the opposite or even slightly divergent point of view. I don’t think this man was trying to do this, but merely trying to be heard.
***
I just posted several links showing the crime stats of Kansas City & the educations stats & they went poof. I don’t think it was blackcrow. I think it was “The Blaze” they probably consider it too much clutter.
How else are going to substantiate your assertions? Just assert it & tell people you can look it up? Sometimes they can easily & other times it can be a real bear.
Anyone see those link however briefly? I saved the source articles anyway
