It’s official, Jimmy Fallon is going to take over “The Tonight Show,” at least according to anonymous sources at NBC. The decision would remove longtime late night host Jay Leno from the time slot.
Meanwhile, there is an ongoing debate about the timing of the switch among key players at NBCUniversal, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Executives are reportedly leaving toward launching Fallon’s show in February of 2014, while others don’t want to move too quickly.
“Moving more quickly not only would provide a high-profile launch for Fallon but effectively would keep Tonight Show host Jay Leno from moving to a rival network until his contract expires in September 2014,” THR reports.
The Huffington Post reports that NBC has been “quietly” building Fallon a new studio in 30 Rockefeller Center in Manhattan for the anticipated move to “The Tonight Show” at 11:35.
Sources say the transition will occur “by the fall of 2014 at the latest.”

Mar. 20, 2013 at 8:00pmNothing to watch on NBC if they take Jay off. Everything else is terrible. It’s no wonder they are in last place.

I don’t comment on many stories but I read alot of headlines around the web and want to comment so I come here to give my 2 cents but the stories are not posted. I just think Blaze is a tabliod site, you have to weed through heaps of stories mostly a bunch of BS to even get the news and the real stories of the day are not here.

It’s a good story… The top comment on it says it all..
Un(stinking) believable…(Saudis) get a pass, but a double-amputee combat vet catches hell from a TSA (female sanitary device). This administration really does have their heads so far up their (posterior), it may never become unstuck.

Mar. 20, 2013 at 8:14pmMe too. He’s the least political. I don’t care for Letterman, Leno, Fallon or Kimmel, in that order, due to their constant attacks against Palin. Over 4 yrs. and they’re still attacking her, to protect their Pet.

Mar. 20, 2013 at 7:47pmLeno, his politics aside, has lead the ratings on late night TV over the last 20 or so years for a reason;
He’s funny. I hope that he turns up on a rival network ( FOX?) and blows all three of the other liberal attack dogs right out of the water. Letterman is too rabidly liberal. Conan . … . Conan who? Fallon is funny to all the high school kids who stay up late watching TV in Dad’s rec’ room.

Mar. 20, 2013 at 8:20pmHis timing sucks! He’s just the prettiest ‘dog’ in the show. He’s obviously kissed a lot of *ss to get to his place. He got his old time slot back, and got Conan kicked out. I remember when he first took over for Carson. Buddy Hackett came on his show one night, and said, ‘Don’t worry, Johnny wasn’t so hot the first couple of years, either’. That was 20 yrs ago. Now, he’s more partisan, and with the same bad timing he had way back then.

Mar. 21, 2013 at 10:14amLeno didn’t get Conan ‘kicked out’. Conan’s ratings sucked and he was replaced by Leno by order from ‘above’.
NBC OWNED that time slot until Conan came along and then he tanked. Leno was the only show that NBC had that consistently lead it’s time slot. So when Conan circled the drain they had no choice but to move Leno ( who also tanked at the 10 PM slot) back to the 11:35 PM slot. Conan was a bad attempt to appeal to a younger demographic. NBC thought that if they moved him up to Leno’s time slot the younger audience would flock to him. What they discovered was that all the younger audience that would ever watch Conan was already watching and moving him did not bring in more viewers.
Aside from the fact that Conan sucks of course.

The same thing is going to happen to Fallon. He has reached his peak and changing his time to 11:35 PM will not bring in any new viewers. His demographic includes SNL viewers and not much more. Watch NBC scramble in about two years, when they try to find a replacement for Leno. Hopefully Leno will be on ABC by then, giving them their first successful late night show.

Mar. 20, 2013 at 7:44pmI am done with Obama’s little troll Fallon. His over the top worship of Obama is ridiculous. I know Leno liked Obama but at least there was some balance with his political humor. But to be perfectly honest these late night shows are a thing of the past. No one really watches them any more when they have a zillion other channels to watch late at night.

Mar. 20, 2013 at 7:41pmLate night T.V. is dead and has been dead for a very long time, Leno his jokes are lib slanted, and stale as he tells the same ones night after night, Letterman is not funny just, mean, and has not been funny since the 80s, and has the same boring celebs on his show night after night, mostly Sarah Jessica Parker shes on Letterman weekly, and i am surprised she doesnt have her own spot on the show regularly. Falon-. i dont waste my time.

Mar. 20, 2013 at 7:15pmFallon’s “Lying a$$ B1tch” stunt means I will never watch him. Letterman was written off years ago as he openly flaunts his progressive support especially after the Palin stunt on child rape. Leno is tired and old and safe and liberal – nothing for me there either.
Progressive topical theater of late night TV just makes you dumberer… :-)
